At one of my garage sales I received a fake $50 bill. It checked out ok with the pen but when my son took it to the bank it was a washed $1 bill that someone printed a $50 on it. My gosh people work hard to screw you out of your things and money!

Man, I use cash because I live on a fixed income and have to be careful from month to month.. I feel it more when I pay cash, than swiping a card. People look at me like I’m a crook or I don’t even know!- when I give them a $50 or $100 bill. It’s become so abnormal to use cash, that you are a minority in that area. They examine 90% of the money I use, even $20 bills. Everyone just wiped thst card. They don’t feel it- till the bill or bank statement comes. Crazy world!
I guess I should have added, it’s mostly cashiers at grocery stores or gas stations.

It's been years but when I sold at my local flea market, they told every seller to check all $10 and up bills. Apparently they kept getting reports from sellers who'd accidentally accept fake bills. I never checked with a pen, but would hold them up to the light.
Call me crazy, but anything second hand sold personally I check every bill at least once.
My daughter had a sale . She also checked the bills . She worked hard on that sale . I was so proud of her . Even the people coming thanked her for her hard work.

We've had a counterfeit bill given to us at a yard sale we had. We also had a man try to pull a quick change scam on me! Thank goodness my husband saw and stopped me from giving him more money than he should have received.
Yeah, that car fit pin. You can pick that up pretty much anywhere like at Walmart or wherever but it’s smart. You need to carry one of those with you no matter where you go or what you do you be surprised how many people out to run around with counterfeit bills and it just takes one bad apple to screw up your entire purchase or sale or just all your money in general.

FYI those money pens are garbage. Fun fact, if you mark bingo paper with them, you'll get the same color marking. I used to work in a casino and the FBI came in and showed us, we never knew. The best way to check bills if they're counterfeit or not is to use the special light.

Talk about time. My friend got cash from the BANK. 1 bill ended up counterfeit. Bank told him that he wld have to take it up with the police and didn't reimburse. Lesson learned was that when he goes to any bank anymore, he brings a counterfeit detecting marker with him. Weird, because wouldn't it be the banks fault for not seeing it and not his depleting wallet?

Hey you met one of our friends who owns the Bebee flea market in Arkansas! I live right down the road and we have shopped there for 20 years! Also they are right about the Bargains Galore on 64 it’s like 180 miles of yard sales in August! I live on HWY 64 so I just walk up and down the street and look for deals! 😂
Believe it or not, friend and I had a garage sale and someone passed off a $100.00 counterfeit bill! We found out when she went to Sam’s and they caught it😮. It was awful. Really passing it off at a garage sale? Sad….

You should look for old nomads wuilts. Or old vintage feedbacks and fabric. Big big big market for thst. Quilting is a multi billion dollar a year business! Just a tip from my point of view.

Makes sense though, really. A rummage sale would be the one of the least likely places to get caught trying to use funny money. People are probably way less likely to check it there than a store. Even if they do they probably don't have you on video cameras that can be used as evidence to prosecute you with, so you could just act surprised, give them real money and walk away. Due to that I bet dishonest people actually do target rummages to try to launder the stuff into circulation.
I have one of those pins they work. And I had a buyer that was paying with counterfeit 87.00. I was pissed but so was he I told him he could leave my yard now because I was fixin to call police he left. Luckily I had my husband and my daughter there with me and I’ve had people still small items I catch them sometimes. Good videos
Wow first time I seen someone check, 20 yrs ago in Canada we had alot of counterfeit 20s, we had piles of them we would cash in at yard sales, spend 50 cents and get the change back, i believe it was Westley Weber that made them ,a college kid or he made the 100s i cant remember it was awhile ago

My brother was working odd jobs under the table (tax free) so he was being paid in cash at the end of each day.
He left work, went to buy a 6pk of beer.

Well he said the cashier told him she needed to change the tape on the register. Left to go get a new roll. He had given her a 100 dollar bill so of course he waited patiently for her change. She came back and proceeds to change the tape thing. He said it felt like it took longer than it should and asked if the other cashier could finish him up but she said he had to do it on her register since she started the process. Whatever.
Cops showed up and immediately put him in cuffs. Not a word is spoken til they get outside and hold the bill in front of him.
He lived in a 3 strike state. He had a previous drug arrest as well as a charge for theft. He says he took a tool box from a car that had its windows down. Shitty of him and he knows it but it is what it is. So he went to jail 3yr for that bill….and it was the one time he really didn’t have a single thing to do with it.
They don’t mess around with that crap.
Had he not already been in trouble before or could have afforded a lawyer it may have ended differently. Our jail is full of poor people who can’t afford representation. Some of them belong there….some don’t.

About 10 to 12 years ago there was more $20 and $100 passed at garage sales here in Modesto Ca. than you can imagine. Every one had a pen after awhile.

Finding counterfeit bills is EASY!!! I found t g em all the time in the cash office, & could never figure out how these cashiers couldn't see them!!! Especially when they handle money every day!! And you can feel the difference! Came across a $50 once & it was a $5! They bleached it, you could smell it & money pens didn't work on it!

Actually Kevin, those markers aren’t that quite accurate. I worked at a bank and was told that if someone’s money happens to go through the washing machine and it gets fabric softener added, it can make the bill show black, like it is counterfeit. Just a heads up!

I sort have been taken for fake money at this sale. This group of crackheads came to my sale and bought the most random things, almost like they were kids in a candy store. They spent $100 and left and when they left, a backpack in their truck went flying out the back. I grabbed the backpack and put it aside in case they returned. Well as I was looking at the money they just gave me I noticed that the bills all had the same serial numbers and were odd. They sure enough came back 5 mins later looking for their backpack. I confronted them and they returned all my items except 2 so I told them I saw someone pick up their back pack and take off. I opened the backpack and there was over $500 in makeup etc that i returned to the local cvs where they stole. Cvs gave me some of the products that they couldn’t resell and I sold for $100

Oh, you mentioned 127 so yes, I live in Ohio and I go on that every year. It runs about 20 miles west of where I’m living, but I’ve done that whole route. You’ll be surprised what you’ll find out there but most of the stuff I don’t know how it is up here in the north, but from my experience usually most anything worth finding it’s gonna be in the southern states Southern Kentucky on down, but with that being said, I’ve got enough stuff that I’ve heard from my mom and her parents that if you came to my house, you’d be picking me trust me because this stuff I’m going to sell and I don’t even know what’s in there vintage jewelry But I have no idea what nothing I noticed. Is you post things about Ebay that you’ve listed and you don’t show exactly what it sold for she said best offer accepted but she had like $10 for shipping or something anyway I don’t know just kind of curious if you can show more sold listings than what you actually had it listed forreally doesn’t help out lotta Ebay or in my book. Maybe it does I do eBay but don’t do the stuff that you put on cause I don’t know nothing about all that kind of stuff anyway have a good one. I might run into sometime.
