Tried the method of leaving underglaze in a pan to thicken. I used for newsprint transfer. Problem I faced was the image when transferred smudged. This doesn’t happen with using other mediums to thicken the underglaze. Any idea why this may have happened?

What's the ratio of water to gum to reliquify the underglaze?
