Chinese spear techniques reaches its zenith in the Ming Dynasty. With the publications of a number of Spear treaties that details the principles and techniques for the formidable Long Spear, also known as CHANG QIANG (長鎗)
With poles of length exceeding 3 meters , the treaties describes a very special type of spearhead. That is very light and very small, that did not weight down at the end of a very long spear shaft and enable the long spear to be lightening fast.

Total Length 3 cun 寸 5 fen 分. Spear tip 1 cun 寸 5 fen 分, with a thick and tall spine, the edges should be sharp. Spear socket 2 cun 寸 with diameter 5 fen 分 . Socket should be hollow, with the spear shaft insert all the way to behind tip with no gaps. cun 寸 = 3.11 cm, fen 分 = 0.311 cm
Tip no heavier than one tael 兩 (37.5 grams or 1.33 oz). A lighter tip is a better tip.
