Virus type have the best skills very early on game, you can easy capture to Betamon then evolves to DarkTyranomon, Fire blast is the best triple attack of champion level, Dark patamon is easy to get by DNA evolution use it for get Bakemon with Evil charm that have confusion effect also the first champion virus digimon you face is Woodmon, it worth for hp drain skill then later ultimate triple attack from Cherrymon
Virus Type Kuwagamon's is one of the most OP by lowering defense, really makes strong bosses easy to beat. It;s even improved in its Ultimate form as a triple defense-lowering attack. Always get Kuwagamon / Okuwamon in your team.
There's also Numemon that you can trade for Megadramon relatively early. If you recruit Metalgreymon using the free Toy Plane you're given, you can DNA digivolve the two of them into a Greymon that can level up into a Wargreymon. The dude will pretty much carry you all the way through the story mode
Love the look, sound, and feel of this game back in the day. playstation and n64 had all the good games soo nostalgic, also loved the voice acting. lol still remember some on the attacks in Japanese. 🤣😆🙏🏾👍🏾
To be honest, this game is too tedious compared to other Digimon games I can't bear to play without fast level up cheat code (Just that code to ease the work of having to constantly leveling everything because of level cap system). But this game has the coolest opening among 3 classic Digimon games on PS1 (or even among all of them), has killer OSTs, and ridiculous amount of playable Digimons for the time. Maybe also the first one to features Voice acting, tho tied to the moves that characters which can be hilarious sometimes to hear a cute Digimon use heavy voice in some moves or vice versa the cool ones using kid/female voice in those moves. It's kinda ambitious, not too good but commendable.
I loved the game, I will agree though, the only shame is that Digimons can't skip levels (you have to pass through every level one at a time) but I loved the system, it was fun to have Digimons use skills from other Digimons, IMO they should have a used a pitch feature to pitch the sounds depending on the casting Digimon. The dungeon crawler was interesting but also boring at times, but still that did not stop the game from being one of my favorite Digimon games. For me Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth fixed all the issues I had with this game.
Me too, whenever I play it now, it's with the support of cheats, because the grinding in this game is just way too much. I don't have too much time free anymore, and have other things to do and other games to play!! I change the digimon to the one I want to play with, give it whatever techniques I want, and give it balanced/appropriate stats for the given moment at the game (I don't want to make it too easy! still want challenging battles :D )
Personally, as long as there is a speed up option, the grind is no longer as tedious. Was able to play this game like an hour a day and beat it relatively quickly. The levels are not that difficult to go through and grinding is not as tedious as you think so long as you advance properly. Able to get to Megas with little to no difficulty by the time you reach the 1/2 way marker. Which by that point you have a team roughly in DP 3-4 and should be capable of ending the game with that team with really no trouble at all, as you also would have gotten plenty of money for upgrades and even a bunch of Max Drives that will just never let you down.

Yeah, the texts are from those used for American localizations/anime dubs. Many of them are comically non-indicative, such as Gryphonmon's Supersonic Voice being changed into Legendary Blade and H-Kabuterimon's Giga Blaster being changed into Giga Scissor Claw.
I really hope this comes back in the next Digimon Story game. I wanna hear the JP VA say the attack name. Only Volcanomon and Pilevocamon did it in Hacker's Memories, but it was fantastic.

@@kaizoku8087 Thats not a bug, Shadow Scythe does that. A cheaper Giga Cannon but the opponent must die before the alternate shot and the shots after the First attack doesnt cost any MP.
@@bismarckimperia8781 There are 2 bugs for shadow scythe. 1. When interrupted upon its normal/first attack it will perform a 2nd attack and both will happen haphazardly (attack at random) 2. At the end of battle,the mon with shadow scythe will try to attack when all monsters are fainted,which will result in a miss.

Some digimon Have to be evolved with DP higher than 5 to get (exp. Raidramon). The rarest digimon needs to be evolved with DP 20 (exp. Diaboromon). Omnimon as always needs combine metalgarurumon + wargreymon with DP 20. You will encounter rare enemy in the 99 floor dungeon (exp Jijimon) but i forget who is the rarest wild digimon encounter

I think the names we see on screen are localizations, but the voice actors are the japenese sieyuu saying their attack names. Lets face it Genocide Gear isn't going to fly with American Censors even though I think Gigadramon clearly says it ingame.

Getting IceDevimon AND THEN Water Ray from the starter DemiDevimon was one of the biggest disappointments when I was a kid.
It didn't stop at that, Hyogamon's skill is an awful assist too. Gotta rely on the costly fire blast of Dark Tyrannomon early game :>

This game was my first digimon game ever. I loved it so much.
Scissor Claw and Horn Buster is just way to OP, one erode the enemy deff into paper, the other reduce enemy attack power into gentle breeze

@@otkogaming224When you KO a digimon with shadow scythe,the mon that used it attacks again. If this move KO’s an another enemy,it makes one more attack on the final enemy
@@kaizoku8087 Thats not a bug, Shadow Scythe does that. A cheaper Giga Cannon but the opponent must die before the alternate shot and the shots after the First attack doesnt cost any MP.
@@bismarckimperia8781 There are 2 bugs for shadow scythe.
1. When interrupted upon its normal/first attack it will perform a 2nd attack and both will happen haphazardly (attack at random)
2. At the end of battle,the mon with shadow scythe will try to attack when all monsters are fainted,which will result in a miss.
I got a big suggestion, Yu Gi oh forbbiden memories all cards attack animations, they have just one animation for every card
Here's hoping for the same.
Each card has 2 attack animation, depending on the Guardian Star you choose when you summon it

Some digimon Have to be evolved with DP higher than 5 to get (exp. Raidramon). The rarest digimon needs to be evolved with DP 20 (exp. Diaboromon). Omnimon as always needs combine metalgarurumon + wargreymon with DP 20. You will encounter rare enemy in the 99 floor dungeon (exp Jijimon) but i forget who is the rarest wild digimon encounter
@@rakryann.w.5733 rumor is that you could encounter kimeramon in the last floor at very low encounter rate. He was planned to be in the game but was scrapped. It has to be hacked in or something
