Some butter? That’s 400 calories worth, add the oil which is probably around 300, plus the rib eye itself which is almost 700, that’s around 1400 calories for a steak.
WHERE ARE THE AROMATICS
What did you do with the rest of the butter in the pan? Did you make buttered toast?
@@PGproductionsHD I don't think oil has that much calories my g, don't know what you're coming from
@@lilypads3033 A tablespoon of oil has 119 calories, I am coming from knowledge unlike you clearly
This is one of my favorite ways to make steak, I almost always do ribeyes on the cast-iron, mostly because it can be a challenge to find a charcoal grill since I live in dormitories.
If you haven't tried this you could also smoke the meat by putting it on a saucepan adding some oil/butter to a mini foil bowl then adding a hot charcoal to the foil bowl creating smoke instantly, leave it covered for however long you want or until there's barely any smoke left and then you season your meat and cooking it on the cast-iron.
throw a sprig of thyme, garlic greens and a slice of shalot in the butter when you baste makes the steak go crazy and if you want it to tast like you grilled it i use just a small dash of smoked paprika to replicate that smoky char taste
It's good it taste better on the pan imo

He forgot to say that you have to lower the heat on the iron pan so that the butter doesn't burn 🤷🏻♀️
What temp do you start cooking the steak at? I'm guessing no higher than medium, because cast iron retains heat well, so too high can burn the butter
if you use ghee you don’t have to!
@@sungiibut ghee doesn't yield the same result as butter
@@thalohdepends on the burner but yes, medium and let it preheat, get a good sear on the sides, remove steak, lower heat, add aromatics and butter, once the butter is foaming put the steak back in and baste until it’s about 10 degrees Fahrenheit under your desired temp, maybe even a bit more. Basting will cause a lot more carryover cooking than other methods
@@sungiighee is great for the initial sear, but browned butter adds extra flavour when basting

Its like I am listening to a fairy tale of the steak being prepared, and they lived happily ever after, in the stomach of Guga. The end.

😂
If your butter burns, you used salted butter, opposed to unsalted, and you get a better sear with ghee.
Thank you my family loved it. Everything came out cooked right and perfect. My family was super happy. Thank you again.
Think Guga needs to include how long you should let a steak rest AFTER it’s done. Cause you DO NOT cut into a steak directly our the pan/grill. AT LEAST 5 minutes it should rest. Sometimes, longer is better.

That's like a whole Christmas worth of butter for one steak Trent!
People disregard pan-seared stakes too much in my opinion. A perfect crust EVERY time with the hot oil. I like to use a high-quality cold press olive oil for my steaks to get a delicious, nutty, savory taste even without using butter (which i still use, Kerrygold, btw) and then rest it with a small amount of fresh kerrygold to have the fresh butter flavor along with the roasted, basted butter flavor. Never had a bad steak since using this method!
So true. So underrated

I also like to throw in some rosemary too... Cast Iron the way to go. Guga can you dry aged a steak in flamin hot mountain dew?
I usually don't put garlic powder and just crash some garlic cloves, and put it with the butter + rosemary + thyme
Please don’t
Carbon steel has my preference, lighter and will hold similar heat
I normally use creole seasoning it's got pepper garlic powder and salt but it's better

Very frustrating watching videos like this when they say 1mon. then flip, 4 min. total, but you don't know how hot the pan is to start with. How about a specific temperature, I have an infra-red digital thermometer. Thanks.
This isn’t an experiment in a laboratory u don’t need that type of equipment. Just a pan with plenty of oil, on a fairly high heat which is ready to go when white smoke appears. Do as he says, then let it rest for at least 4 minutes on a board
Thanku so much for this.. I am completely new to cooking steak and i only have a cast iron skillet. Almost all the videos i found were using an oven at some point of the cooking and I was starting to wonder whether an oven is an absolute necessity for cooking steak!! This clearifies that it's not the case👍🏽
Just made my steaks. They turned out great! Thank you!❤
Never knew that I needed a Peter Griffin ASMR till now.
That is beautiful. Simplicity is beautiful.
This is honestly the best way to cook a steak not only is it delicious, but the cast-iron serves an important role in allowing a smaller amount of iron to absorb into the meat. the benefit is your body getting a little bit more iron that it needs plus it’s the proper way to cook a steak just look how delicious that looks great job
I can tell you cooked it on one side mostly for the crust and making the video look better 😋🤤
that's a man that knows how to season his meat so the flavour explodes in your mouth.
💀
The first time we’ve ever seen Guga cook a steak on the cast iron
I just did everything you said in this video (first time cooking a steak) and it’s perfect. So good
No matter what steak it is! It’s always scrumptious. 🥩
What are the temps of the pan throughout cooking? Do you lower it when you add butter? Mine always burns
Yes, after searing, you have to lower the heat ( idk the temps, i just go by how it feels right )
You start searing with mid-high temp, and lower somewhere to mid or below (depending on your fire source)
@@popaandrei4422 you don’t sear on high heat?
@@k33p1tc00l i sear on high heat, i was saying when you are done searing and start basting with butter, you usually lower the heat

Do you eat meat everyday? I wana see a routine of your meals everyday for a week that would be an awsome video
From what I heard, he eats steak 2-3 times a week
I just discovered the wonders of medium rare steak this year and let me tell you that I've never tried a better tasting way to make steak EVER. My family is the type to be like "if there's any pink in meat, then it's raw and trash and will kill you" so I always fully cooked my steaks but I always hated the taste, so I came to the conclusion that I hated steak until I met my girlfriend and she made it like this and had me try it. Never going back😼

Great loop editing for this short
Just tried this and it tasted amazing
“If its black something went terribly wrong” Is what the doctor said to me as my wife was giving birth.
Is this guy the voice over artist of peter Griffin
Yes
That's how you cook your steak to your preference
Revisit the test there where you concludeed that you need a good amount of oil to get a good sear! I usually just put a little knob of ghee to “wet” the surface of the pan, and I even see people doing it without any oil all if they have a fatty piece of meat ofc, try it out!
POV: you are looking for a comment saying “ITS RAW”
how dare you call me out like that
This is true
I just thought most of us realize it's just medium rare tbh
I don't like to touch my steak a lot when it's searing. Plus if you want the butter to not burn just sear the steak like you normally would but turn off the heat completely then baste. The residual hear from the cast iron is plenty to melt the butter, continue to cook the steak and ensure no burning butter.
Nice. And yes you’re right about the butter and the heat being turned off. Works perfectly. 👍
The best and detailed tutorial an Steaks love u

Today i did my first steak, i overcooked and over seasoned it, what to do with it now, can i put it in some rice and vegetables?
Yes or noodles or make a cheeset steak by melting some cheese kn it and put it in some bread. Also don't worry

Love to see people eating raw food with blood 🩸 yummy 🤤
That’s not raw, and it’s also not blood.
You are the reason why people make no cook vegan restaurants.
Its not blood so shush and do some research on food before complaining
You probably eat a overcooked steak from your mom
Good, clear, simple!
It's a beautiful crust. My issue is that you would rather use garlic power than actual garlic... And that you you don't use aromatics
Honestly the times and temperatures are so subjective when doing steak like this. As long as you have a crust, pink in the middle and butter that didnt burn you did it right.
I would like Guga to read me a bedtime story, his voice is very nice
😂😂😂
WOW!!! Beautiful! That sear sings!
Went awesome!!!! Thank you!!!!
Me seeing 10 steak vids in a row
Thanks guga!!!❤
Might I suggest adding garlic, black peppercorns, and the spring of an herb like Rosemary or thyme to the oil just before you add the butter. I live in an apartment that don't have a grill, but that's how I make steak.
I used to cook steak in my cast iron strictly. Works great but cast iron is heavy and can be annoying to clean, I switched over to stainless steel recently. Got an all clad d3 stainless pan and it’s amazing. Sears just as well as the cast iron and it’s way easier to handle/clean. Still love cast iron for searing but stainless steel is the winner for me.
Just soak water once the cast iron pan is cooled after n hour wipe it no soap, then rinse and season again
Heat cast iron then add little oil
Cook the side first 1 min then 3 min & 30 sec for front / back lower the heat add butter 1 min front ‘ back let it rest for 8 min enjoy
I swear man this channel makes me hungry 😂
me watching this while fasting : 🥲
Thank you so much I made it and me and my family loved it
Usually the butter does not burn on medium heat
Don’t add anything but salt before you cook it. Season it after. The pepper and garlic powder will burn on the skillet. It will create a burnt/charcoal taste in the mouth, and some people think that that taste is supposed to be there. It’s not. It’s only there because you seasoned before. Salt before. Season after.
Can you show us what black butter looks like
Wow! Nice recipe, I really love how it looks! 😮❤
