Steve is one of my friends that I know will tell the unvarnished truth. Too many people dismiss the shotgun because they have not developed the skills to run one effectively and efficiently. A well maintained and equipped shotgun used by a trained gun owner is a devastating CQB weapon. It's significantly harder to run a shotgun in a training class compared to running a AR/AK in class.

Hit the head on the nail!! I love my shotgun. When I first hit the streets in Huntsville, Alabama, patrol officers didn’t have shotguns. Eventually issued, they were the only long guns we carried for a good many years. I find it to be versatile and flexible to the mission, and easily a match for patrol rifles in most of the engagement distances faced by officers.

He is 100% right about everything! I've taken a couple of shotgun classes. One taught by Louis Awerbuck and one by Bill Davison at Tac Pro. Louis Awerbuck focused a lot on what was around your target. In front and behind. As far as bolt on's go, a good 18.5 shotgun with a 4+1 capacity can out-shoot YOU right out of the box. Bolting crap to it won't make you any better at using it. Check the basic boxes. A good ammo delivery system (side saddle/shotgun card/dump pouch), a good set of sights, a simple 2-point sling, a light and you're set to go to a class and learn without fighting your gear.

Y'all, take this class, it's a great starter for learning shotguns. Learned a lot about my gun and gear, found that some of the kit I had wasn't right for me and wound up running my backup shotgun, a 5-shot wood-stocked Mossberg, better than my original defense gun. And Steve's classes are super affordable, I think I spent more on an Airbnb and gas than the actual class itself and the ammo I shot

The result is he will teach us all the good.

I've thought this was a good idea too, because almost certainly some rounds or pellets are going to be sailing past or through the target in moments when adrenaline is flowing, and if they are headed at chest or head level, well... Let's not pretend we are all going to accurately figure out our background completely in one or two seconds.

Sentinel Concepts's "Practical Shotgun" was an insanely informative class. I went in knowing so little about shotguns that I had an entire page of questions that I wanted to ask Steve when I got the chance. It turns out that I didn't have to even ask most of my questions since he just answered them before I could ask! I even left with answers to questions that I didn't even know to ask before the class. I'm still a yucky Millennial who likes boring ol' ARs more than shotguns but I know so much more about shotguns thanks to Steve's class. It's also pretty cheap compared to most classes out there.
