  • Acute Interstitial Nephritis (AIN) | Causes, Pathophysiology, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment
Acute Interstitial Nephritis (AIN) is a renal condition involving inflammation of the kidney (nephron) often due to immunological responses to a variety of causes at or within the renal interstitium. AIN has a variety of causes, with medications being the number one category of causes. In this lesson, we look in-depth at many medications, infections, and systemic conditions that cause AIN. Additionally, we also discuss some of the pathophysiology behind the condition, along with some of the signs and symptoms, how AIN is diagnosed and how it is treated.

Quick treatment often leads to a full recovery. Sometimes interstitial nephritis causes permanent damage to the kidneys before you can be diagnosed.👍
