Is this Therions greatest concert?!
Yes, mainly because it has the 4 Fantastic on stage. But "Celebrators of Becoming, live in Mexico" is also killer. And "The Miskolc Experience" (played ia a real Opera festival, only band with Epica to have this honour), with full orchestra and choir is also a must see experience. In this concert the first half are classical music covers and the second part the more "classical music" songs by Therion: "Via Nocturna", "Schwarzalbenheim", "The Draconian Trilogy", etc... Absolutely amazing... The Budapest 2007 concert is also good, and they played the whole _"Theli" album (the album that changed music)... Cheers
The Budapest concert is also quite good.
Gothic Live, Budapest 2007, Wacken 2007 and Miskolc are the best.
Better to select the right songs in the right concert for best experience.
Miskolc : Schwarzalbenheim, Draconian Trilogy and the exceptional special version of Clavicula Nox in full classical style.
Budapest : Midgard, Son of the Sun, Via Nocturna, Wine of Aluqah, Wisdom and the Cage
Wacken 2007 : To Mega Therion
Gothic Live : many others!
The pioneers and masters of the genre! Definitely in the Big Four of Symphonic Metal with Nightwish, Epica and Luca Turilli.

Great reaction to the best symphonic metal of the world!! FYI, the guy that composes all Therion's masterpieces is Christopher Johnson (the guitar player with the long coat... and hair). The other guitar player is Kristian Nieman (best solos in symphonic metal), the bassist is his brother Johan; on drums is Peter Karlson (amazing, as you have seen)... And the Four Fantastic are Lori Lewis (soprano), Katarina Lilja, Mats Leven and Snowy Shaw... This song is already from 1998, from their second "symphonic metal" album, "Vovin" (a masterpiece from the beginning to the end)... Well, the rabbit hole is huge, more than 100 songs, but once you'll hear "To Megatherion" and "Ginnungagap", you will be completely trapped... Cheers from Spain...

Thank you so much for the reaction! Love it! They are phenomenal. Epica and Therion are the ultimate in this genre. The best by far. Both of their lyrics too are unbelievable. It’s indeed a dark song, about the Hashasins of Iran centuries ago. And satan. But they’re phenomenal and so intelligent. I can’t wait for you guys to explore this band more. They have sooooo many great songs and meanings and this is only scratching the surface quite literally. Glad you enjoyed it! And yes they are still going. The first song you reacted to from them, Codex Gigas was a new song but they had a lot of member changes so their new stuff isn’t as good as the older stuff but they have been around for 30+ years. Their golden age was from 1996 to 2010 ish I would say. And they made 10 incredible albums during this time. So soo sooo good.
I agree that Therion and Epica are the best. (I’ve never been able to get into Nightwish.) My favorite era was the time when the Neimann brothers were the lead guitar and bassist ( no criticism here of Christopher, but rather a time stamp) and Lori Lewis was the lead female vocalist.

The band changes members a lot. There are already 33 musicians (15 vocals). On the Deggial album only one song has vocals (Hansi Kürsch from Blind Guardian) all the other lyrics are sung by a choir.
An interesting detail is that the best male vocal that the band had is the current one. A Swede named Thomas Vikström.
This line-up from the video was disbanded at the end of the tour. When Christofer (band owner) heard that there were a lot of shows and little rest time, he shouted for them to shut up and stop complaining. Well, the band continued with just Christofer but Thomas could join the band.
