Nighttime is scary as that is when the weather gets bad in the mountains , the later it gets, the worse it gets. You are unable to escape due to the weather and darkness. Mountains are scary at the best of times due to the sheer power of nature,. Where I stay, in Scotland, winds have been recorded upto 173mph in the mountains. I have had one tent flattened, another (a hilleberg) ripped out of the ground.

Me and a friend camped out last year. Kept hearing what sounded like foot steps. But could not see anyone. Later found out it was frogs. Then sat on my hammock, something touched my leg,as I looked down something big and dark moved. Jumped out my skin. It was only my hammock stuff sack. Lolz

@@adamfreeman2348 was more curious what the foot step sounds where also new to hammock camping so was not expecting something moving between my legs. There is always a logical explanation.

Really good basic video Johnny. You made a very good job of explaining the ways of solo wild camping. Thank you and Stay Safe.

I've wild camped since I was a kid, the night noises in a woodland take some getting used to but you end up enjoying them eventually.
I use the Rakoon for most of my camps, great little tent 👍

In my experience the worst hazards in the woods are ticks ( in summer ) and maybe the odd psychotic badger 😕
Very much enjoyed your video 👍
& big up for the Staines MAssive!

Badgers are fine. Lovely animals. They are very wary of people as many scumbags love to kill them. Me i love them. No ticks and mosquitoes are the worst. Nasty especially ticks as they hide in your clothing and attack you at night. Spray the tent with permethrin and keep all outdoor clothing and shoes separate from your sleeping space.

I dont camp as such but actually live in a tent on and off as i am homeless. Prefer the woods to avoid problem people and the pigs of course. Dont have time for fear as i have no choice. My advice is have a weapon close to hand when asleep just in case some asshole stumbles across you.

Can't believe he's answered to all messages besides the guy who has no choice to sleep in a tent. I hope your doing well in urself brother, if you ever find a large campsite on a Sunday or festival sleeping area after it finishes you can find lots of free finds. Approaching farmers who have forest areas and being honest abt the situation works. I've made fences for half a day and been allowed to camp in forested land for the whole month free of charge. All the best, I'm sure things will get better.

@portsmouthpiratessoftballc9727 first of all I haven’t answered “all messages “ and I don’t have anything to say to him in regards to camping other than be sure you can be warm enough as winter is approaching I hope your situation improves and be sure to check your local shelter options as you might qualify for a shelter. I hope things get better
