- In this episode, the contestants must bring in the most satisfying thing to touch, let the cat out of the bag, make an older family member hang up on them, do the bravest thing with a ream of paper, and de-pineapple some pizzas. There is also a thrilling tie-breaker task involving clapping as quickly as possible.

In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion. - Komedie
As soon as Luke called his mom... and started to chat, we all knew how this was going to go down.
When he said "she's retired " , oh this is going to go WELL.
Already knew, if you want a fast call, NEVER call mom.
And 20 mins? That is a short call with mom.
Wrapping up a call with Mom in 20 mins is genuinely impressive! I consider anything under an hour a win.
@adammitchell115 depends with my mom. If I call her when she's at work (she is a nurse) she only answers to ask whether it's an emergency or whether it can wait until after her shift.
@adammitchell115
Right? Even my phone messages to my son last longer than that (I'm working on that 😬)
Luke's Mum chatting forever and Julia's agent hanging up IMMEDIATELY is so perfect.
If youre wondering where Tom got the statistics mentioned here at 1:41
The two minutes and twenty five seconds refer to how long Jimmy talked with his auntie on the phone (19:48)
And the 71% refers to the amount of bags Julia opened (15:55)
Thank you so much!
Aw nice, almost forgot about those!
now I can sleep without worrying 😌👌
You've made it so I don't have to count to see if there were 100 bags. Thank you 🫡
See, my teachers were wrong. I don’t have to know maths, just wait long enough and someone else will do it!
"He shares his name with Carr and Fallon but he doesn't Carrey." - I needed a few seconds. Alex would be proud.
If not for being cute, Danielle deserves a point for being a good granddaughter. I love how even after the fact she tears up at the thought of stressing out her nana.
Cat & bag is a perfect TM task. So many different ways to solve, and all used (clues in the bags, clue from above, dumb luck, brute force)
Luke made a rookie mistake. If you want to have a quick, succinct phone call, never call your mom.
As soon as he brought her up being RETIRED, I knew it would be a long call.
Yeah maybe call your mom is she's at work maybe if you want a short call. Your mom AND retired? Clear your schedule.
There's no beating Greg and Alex as a duo, but the double Tom of TMAU are definitely a solid second for me. They've got a great grasp of their roles so early on in the show and paired with this amazing cast gives TMAU one of the most solid first seasons. Tom Gleeson is also definitely the best Taskmaster among the international adaptations. Great mix of harsh and funny.
Luke trying to get off the phone with his mum is incredible. "Just checking how much battery I had left...............and I'm doing pretty good!" *winces in regret*
This was like a scene from 'Liar Liar'! 😂
He's so nice he couldn't even lie about that! He could've used it to potentially end the call!
I sensed acceptance from that scene. Just like Joe using the egg to make a full-on breakfast. (The results were also somewhat similar...)
It would be epic if Luke didn't remember the task and habitually hung up the phone call at the end, ngl
That was the most honest line in tv history.
"How did the date with the girl from Sydney go?" If I'm not mistaken, Luke married her not too long ago.
We need details!
@@doubleT84 google it…
@@doubleT84 He'll fill ya in in person
Luke's spouse is an indigenous author, advocate, and academic named Amy Thunig (they/them pronouns). They have three kids who Luke is now stepdad to, from Amy's Twitter it seems like a very cute blended family :) And the duo got married on Valentine's Day 2023 after Amy proposed by giving Luke a wedding chapel made from LEGO. Goals haha
@@katkatattack indeed ❤ 5 points to Luke and his partner for being cute 😂
Jimmy's auntie being *in* the audience was glorious.
"Don't applaud, you'll make it worse." 😂 I like this guy as TM.
Check out Hard Quiz and Hard Chat, he's even better there.
Tom is such a great taskmaster "I've heard the audience and the answer's still no" BRILLIANT. I'm loving this so much
“So, like, full Italian, or Chris Pratt as Mario?”
there was something absolutely heroic about watching Danielle craft a sword and shield and then charge out into the field with conviction
Luke and Danielle’s conversations with their family members was maybe the most wholesome thing on Taskmaster. Ever. 😊
It's official, taskmaster AU has the best replica head trophy.
Blasphemy
Gospel!
It is so accurate!
With Tom's baldness, they just had to get an emu egg, glue on some wrinkles and spray it gold...
It’s pure gold… paint and medium-heavy plastic
I like this as much as original task master. The host is the right level of elitist and mean.
but he lacks intensity
And a warm-hearted smile! Like Gteg he seems to be a sweet guy enjoying the tyrant role
@@20x20 I think them lacking intensity is the charming part. They clearly enjoy being mean so much that you can't help but encourage them.
I gotta say unlike TMNZ that took me a few episodes to get into, this version was an immediate win to me. I just hope one day they do a Taskmaster World or something with previous contestants from various editions.
Disqualifications, clueless contestants, harsh taskmaster, and a tie breaker task; is this the perfect TM episode?
It was glorious, loved every second
The only thing missing was a reveal where someone gets disqualified afterwards 😂
My poor heart can't handle another Joe Wilkinson-case. @@mrjankeck
Not gonna lie, the TomTom variant of Taskmaster is very enjoyable to watch, especially with this cast. And i thought it'd be hard to outdo NZ s2
2 points for fighting a couple canada geese even if they flew off is criminal
Never would have thought Canadian geese would travel that far
As a Canadian, I assure you there is legitimate bravery involved in facing down a Canada Cobra Chicken! 🇨🇦
@@roddyeskew3909They are Canada Geese, not Canadian Geese. The name denotes species, not nationality.
Unfortunately, I can't take credit for this clever thought; I read it on another CZcams comment. It was intended to be funny, but as I read it now, it appears to have a nasty tone. I am Canadian. There's not a nasty bone in my body! I will close my comment in the most Canadian way possible. Sorry! 🇨🇦🫤
I love how Tom Cashman just seems to always have a good time.
I love that he's always down for shenanigans with the contestants - he and Luke make so much mischief together!
21:57 this moment may be cut for effect, but I really appreciate that the crowd gives their opinion, he shuts it down, and then they just laugh it off. I think I would have expected boos or hisses with other audiences.
It does help that Tom Gleeson is known and loved for his absolute brutality. It's why his other show Hard Quiz is so popular.
as a Canadian, those geese are actually terrifying! Truly brave to stand up to them
When I saw them I actually gasped, haha. We had a Canadian goose chase a woman down and break both her wrists. They're horrifying when they are nesting, haha.
My campus has a ton Canadian geese and it's just common knowledge that you give them a wide berth
Fun fact: Nina won this episode without winning any of the tasks, scoring 4,4,4,3,2. This has happened twice in the UK version, with Josh Widdicombe and Lou Sanders, although they didn't require a tiebreaker to win.
I was fully expecting Patatas the cat from TMUK to be the cat in the bag.
Greg wouldn’t allow it.
I can relate to Jimmy's fear of being poked in the eye with an umbrella spoke. Just the right height to be at eye level for most other people's umbrellas.
Avoid the anime "Another" at all costs!
On the Taskmaster Podcast, after winning CoC3, Dara talked, at length, about how he is certain that his death will be caused by a bus' side mirror because he is tall enough for that to be a concern.
**SPOILERS!**
Tom's Stats, in context:
Two minutes, 25 seconds: Length of Jimmy's phone call
71%: Amount of bags Julia Morris opened (71/100)
Like for the spoiler warning
I'm loving this dynamic between the taskmaster and everyone else already.
I’m just a few seconds through the “call a family member and get them to hang up on you” task but I’m thinking if it were me- I’d be completely silent. No partial talking or weird noises. I feel like they’re more likely to stay on the phone if they can hear SOMETHING. I know my gran doesn’t have anything better to do than chatter on as she waits for me to pop back into service as I’m driving lol.
That's what I'd do too, but if my mother answered it, she would still "hello, hello" for about 3 minutes.
@@SennaAugustus 😆 gotta love mums!
I'd block my number, put on a fake Indian accent and start the call with "Hello, I'm Tom from Microsoft tech support. Your computer has virus..." And then I'd pray I've trained my family well enough to end scam calls quickly...
I feel like I recognize Nina from somewhere, but I don’t know where. She’s fun though- I think they all are! This version of the show is growing on me.
I ❤️ Nina. She seems so random and ditzy, it's adorable.
I love that Danielle was so worried about her nana. ❤ so sweet.
There's few greater pleasures in my life than a new taskmaster episode I haven't seen 😊
I'd forgotten that for the first few episodes, Lesser Tom isn't called Lesser Tom. Makes it a bit strange, but kinda fun to rewatch.
I think it took a series or two before Little Alex Horne became a thing as well.
But he is?
Nina is one of my favorite contestants ever, she's so delightful
Australian dictionary for non-Australians (compiled by an Aussie):

Nina is one of my all time favorite contestants. She's pure joy.
Julia is so out of pocket I love her
Jimmy & Nina in particular are so energetic & excited with their approach, but everyone seems quite fun!
The geese flying away from Danielle are comedic gold ddjjdjd it's like they knew
loved nina's gun show at the beginning
I am so happy we get the AU one too now here. NZ was an absolute blast.
How did no one think of pretending to be someone else on the phone call? I would have called a relative that doesn't know my phone number and pretended to be a telemarketer. "Hello, we're calling about your car's extended warranty..."
I thought the same exact thing, including the car warranty lol.
I wanted to know what those hand pin mold thingies are called and google autofilled "hand pin mold thingy". Turns out there is no actual consistent name for them.
I just tried it. I can't believe it actually suggested hand pin mold thingy 😆 But it does say in the actual results that it's pin art or pinscreen.
Pin screen, is what I've seen
To be fair, google suggests things that other people search. I think a lot of people probably searched the exact same thing after this episode and here we are doing it again!
It is sooo good 😍 Tom & Tom really understand what to do!
As an italian I feel both grateful that you saved those pizze from ananas and slightly offended because he said "correct italian"... And then served someone asking in mix of english and spanish.
I don't know... I got through the first 2 weeks of my 4 weeks in Italy speaking Spanglish with an Italian accent! 🤣 Also, apologies but I LOVE pineapple/ananas on my pizza with pepperoni. I'm probably banned from Italy now.... and 37 US States.
@@EricaGamet Boopa-dee Bappa-dee
@@EricaGamet you realize I'm litteraly writing in english and I said I am italian, right? The fact that many italians will understand a mix of english, french and spanish does not make that language chimera "correct italian"... Someone could go around in britain speaking a mix of dutch, french and portoguese, doesnt mean that's "correct english"
@@boniakarlo You realize I was making a joke, right? Sorry if you missed the joke entirely.
Love from Portugal. This is really AWESOME!! Upside-down Cheers m8s
ah yes, retired parents, famously known for having very brief phone conversations
Unbelievable! This is so good, thank you so much foraking the ahow and sharing it with us ❤
this is perhaps one of my favourite seasons of tm
The Aussie taskmaster is absolutely savage and I’m all for it!
This tm is much more combative I love it. And the Aussie audience actually laughs at the jokes. Both makes a much more enjoyable video viewing compared to the NZ series we’ve watches
fully agree, this one is more enjoyable compared to the NZ one. Jeremy is such a boring and uninteresting taskmaster..
@@blitz3391 Paul is pretty funny though. I like Paul.
@@JacktheRah Paul must be protected. Paul is a good bean.
It feels like the contestants are really enjoying everything, perhaps the Lesser Tom persona affects it somehow? He's nonchalantly smiling unlike grumpy Alex or sad and confused Paul.
Great show! I loved the live task with the pizzas.
33:44 The last thing made me tear up, as a enby person what Julia says means a lot :,)
I cannot get over how they pronounce Danielle "Danny-el"
This is where the fun begins! 😊
Oh I just love this whole cast!
AU is doing great with TM! So many laughs, I love it!
come on, judgement with geese was unfair. when you jump with the parachute from a plane - you're not afraid of a jump, you're afraid of falling flat on your face. and you become safe once the parachute is opened, so like 800 meters from the ground or something. but did you face your fear? absolutely, because of your intention
32:13 it's not cringe it's adorable! I thought along the same lines as well tbh!
17:00 task. How is calling your agent an "older family member"? 23:19. I know she said "most" family members are deceased, but not all of them.
Just because they're alive doesn't mean they're up for talking on the phone....
Oh yes the two versions of Italian normal and Chris prat being Mario. I'm so happy to finally rewatch tm au it's been so long!!
Nina won the episode - I wonder if she ever got her $50!! they did shake on it!
Wow... Australian born Canadian Cobra Chickens sound different than Canadian born Canadian Cobra Chickens.
😂👍🏻
As a Canadian, I felt she was in danger running after the gooseses.
God but I love Danielle
I already watched this series of TM, but watching it again STILL makes me laugh so hard. I absolutely love this version of TM!
for the ream of paper challenge, I would’ve asked Tom to imagine the caravan was a bus during the civil rights movement in america. I’d sit at the front of the caravan and tell Tom to demand I relocate to the back of the bus. then i’d simply say “no”. challenge won
42:20 - My friend taught me how to one handed clap with both hands at the same time. I can't quite pace with my friend... but I think I could take this lot.
@taskmaster Modify the description of the video with the correct info. Your time starts now.
Update its been 7 minutes. Not changed yet.
It's been almost an hour. Still no update
What is incorrect
@@TheresaTrejo-lu3vq Greg Davies isn't the host of the Australian show, and Alex Horne isn't the assistant.
It looks like a third is correct. No points!
Why does the taskmaster channel cut out the throws to commercial and return from break for all the foreign versions? I know there are no commercials here, but they are usually pretty funny.
this TM version won me over at the 1st episode, and it's surprisingly nice to see the tasks fulfilled in lovely weather for a contrast.
I was just wondering, if they did the spider-wellies task in Australia, they would not be much impressed by the size of the plushy one, would they? There might even be confusion if done outside...
As someone who's been chased by geese, she's got my vote, too.
Aussie taskmaster is relentless 😅
@1:37 That's Numberwang
Luke, reminds me a bit of spongebob
7:35 Nice to know that the Aussies know about Jimmy Carr
At this rate I may have to look up episodes elsewhere... they're too good to wait once a week when there's multiple seasons available on the internet...come on TM can't we have the same schedule as the NZ season?? Pretty please 🙏🏼🥺
The similarity between the taskmaster house in AU and NZ is (positively) uncanny
They are literally the same place. AU films in the same location as NZ
@@captainufo4587 oh ,😭
I love this series!!!!!!!!!
The video cutter with the nervous fingers is back...
I swear, Luke and Lenny from the NYs treat could be father and son. There's something so similar about their mannerisms and that mischiveous look they both make when they're being hammy
I know some people have talked down the Aussie series 1, but I'm enjoying it a lot.
Who talked this down? I'm enjoying it a lot so far. Aussie-Alex has started to grow on me in this episode, and I very much prefer Aussie-Greg to Kiwi-Greg.
I never thought any -Alex could burrow as deep in my heart as NZ-Alex and the original no-hyphen-needed Alex, but Lesser Tom has won me over.@@Veepar
Nina reminds me of Sam Campbell so much
I love the call back to "Crumbs in My Bra"...I mean "Swan Lake".
Also, the Mario accent. Hahahaha!
Thanks!
Luke's mom seems lovely
Odd strategy for the phone task, but the only thing your relative isn't allowed to suspect is that you specifically need them to hang up, they can theoretically catch on that it's *something* weird. So I'd call up the relative I trust to be most down with my BS, then ask them to call a different person for me ASAP. Make up some arbitrary weird instructions if they ask, or have them ready before making the call - probably just that I'm pranking said other person. That requires them to hang up to make the other call, but your first question probably wouldn't be "wait you just want me to hang up right" because it's obfuscated with a different nonsense task.
...or try to make phone-dropping/pocket-smushing sounds or just dead silence so they think it's a butt dial. Julia proved that could work a lot faster...but I'd feel much cleverer pulling the first one off.
Why was Julia not disqualified for the phone task? She didn't call a family member.
because her older family members are dead
Isn't the type of jellyfish Danielle said she was afraid of the one whose sting gives you ennui?
Okay, AU TM. I missed the first episode, but I think I'll definitely check that out.

33:56 is such a sad scene... its kinda hard to just pass that.
