- Derek picked up a super clean Cannondale Cannibal quad a few weeks ago and the thing absolutely rips!

I remember when these first hit the scene, both the quads and the bikes, a buddy at the time had his dad buy one for him(they had good money), but like all his new, bought for him bikes, he cracked it up before it could have a natural death 😅

I had a Moto 440 back in the day. I loved it.
I remember looking at these when they just came out. I think the blaze and the moto were like $9,000 or $10,000 20 years ago. They were setup for xc and mx racing off the showroom floor and had some goodies on them. Those prices were crrrrazy for a racing quad at the time, but aluminum frame, fuel injection, ohlins shocks(if i remember right) and itp holeshots stock . Too bad the motors had serious flaws and they went under fast. Cannondale could have became a powerhouse in atv racing.

I remember that engine noise. These quads were so hyped up (looking back, they kind of were). The engines always sounded like they were on the edge of flying apart.
What do you mean..they did fly apart that's why they went out of business. I had 2 of them they both blew up within a month of me getting them then the dealer decided to trade me out for a DS650. It was amazing when it was running..
My all time favorite quad. I XC race one. I've owned alot of them over the years. Ill never not have one to ride

@@joenewberry5912 That is great to hear. Now I need to find one of these quads and i'll be set lol I saw a guy post a non-running one for sale for $300 - yes, $300. Thing sold in less than 2 hrs. It was in very good condition so besides that based on the pictures. Hopefully i find one in the furture

I raced GNCC's in the early 2000's when these had just came out. They weren't super popular but there was a curiosity around them. I forget which race it was, Spartan - Powerline Park - Mountaineer one of those, but a teen rider in the morning race I think who was in the 4-Stroke A class, had his Cannondale catch on fire. I'm racing against my class a few rows back and start seeing smoke around some trees, came out of the woods and did hairpin turn to the right and on the outside of the turn was his Cannondale just in flames 15 feet high. Have never seen that happen to any other quad ever. Cannondales I think had their oil lines going thru the tubing of the frame.
I've got a petition: bring Cannondale back!

still have my 02' Cannibal(silver/black), is on original motor(HMF exhaust system) and still smashes the newest 450s from Japan, only knock is it hates cold weather, then it runs no better than my riding mower !

Oem parts are very easy to get. Black Widow atv builds engines & sells replacement parts.
