The older I get the more I admire this writer. I just reread his Memoir and still found myself unabashedly shedding tears at the end of it. No fancy writing, indeed; just the truth. Along with William Trevor he makes Ireland and the Irish come alive for the imagination. Kudos from the Philippines!
Just listening to this brings back memoriesJohn McGahern really captured life as it was in Ireland the way of life and the way we all spoke. John McGahern so proud of this writer who hails from my own county of Leitrim in Ireland. He has passed on now to his eternal reward but we still miss him and his writings. Thanks for seeing this video.
