This is how I turn jeans into sunglasses using a process that has taken me the best part of a decade to develop. It all starts by making a strong composite material (Solid Denim / Micarta) by cutting up discarded jeans and other waste denim and then infusing it with a strong bio based resin. You can see the rest of the 2 week long process in the video!
I came up with the idea of infusing denim with resin in 2011 and I soon started playing around with the material, making (very rough) prototypes of the sunglasses. I knew that I could develop something very unique, but I didn't know what the end result would be like. Hundreds and hundreds of prototypes later, having tried so many different ways of making them, these sunglasses are finally at the standard I have been aspiring to.
I started Mosevic a few years ago and I have developed a range of styles in blue or black denim.

He has come a long way… his creation was polished back then but now it’s more refined…
Craftsmanship do be increasing in final product with experience
You are a JEANIUS!!!
Nice one !!!
The process looks great. I love how you combine hand craft with CNCs and lasers.
Thanks
I love the whole process. You can really feel how much the man loves making these. From pouring the apoxy on the denim all the way to buffing and bending the final product. I can’t wait to get my hands on these. I will proudly wear these all summer 😎
Cheers mate keep up the amazing work!
Now those are crispy! At 1st i was think no way they can make those look clean with all that glue, but all that trimming and cleaning they come out freaking smooth!
Thanks Bilbo!
Beautiful video and amazing craftsmanship. The S-shaped hinges show that not only you care about the method and construction but also the design. Another step, another extra effort to make the product....perfect.
Thanks very much!
I've never wanted to own sunglasses a single day in my life until today! Absolutely stunning!
Respect from an artist to another artist. This is a masterpiece you just gave birth to.

That’s a nice way of putting it :D
Product / Process / Montage / Music .......everything so f**n perfect. Hats off to you sir!
Wow, i salute you man. Its a long and messy process with a lot of resin, combine with hi tech expensive tools, custom tools, elbow grease, skill, it must be take a lot of research to create those long line production step.
Respect 👌🏻 your sunglasses are beautiful and you put so much thoughts and efforts in them, it's amazing!
magnific, beautifull and interesting. Master of the glasses

Wowww that is a great video, the most interesting thing in this video is how you made those molds and fixatures, love it.
You´re a genious...a genious and an artist. Good luck with your entrepreneurship!! Regards from Argentina.
Speechless.
I found you a while back on IG, I love your work! I made myself a couple of acetate frames about a year ago and been working on and off on a process to produce it efficiently on a larger scale. Wish you all the best!
Thanks very much. I'd be interested to see your frames some time. I wish you all the best too!

Harika ellerinize sağlık çok güzel olmuş
Very good
Wow - I love the idea and process! Nice video, thank you! Which tool did you use to matten the brass parts?
Hi, thanks. It's called a flick mop. It's a spinning wheel covered in steel wires
this is one of the coolest things ive ever seen
Absolutely love it if you ever want an apprentice, give me a shout absolutely ingenious
Awesome! You should partner with Orange Cassidy.
Amazing work! I am here from reddit and wondering where I could buy these?? I honestly love the creativity down to the waxing, you really deserve more attention for your work.
Thanks so much! Please go to www.mosevic.com which is where I sell them. Jack
Amazing work !!!! Good job guys!!!
Harris Tweed would be another interesting material for sunglasses
How beautiful!
Bravoooo 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Amazing work! Beautiful process and results. However I must ask if it is just a personal preference or a part of the process that creates the “cloudy” look when the denim is sanded into. When working with other composites sanding into the cloth is usually undesirable, but I must say I think it really works with denim! Do you apply a final top coat or is it just the wax? Thanks!
hi im from UAE wahtch your creation impressive i need to know what kind of resin you used from where can i get give me link or detail i need fom some good purpose ?? THANKS
Great content, subscribed! I wanna buy it but far from Indonesia tho..
Thanks Stefan! I can ship to Indonesia from www.mosevic.com
How do I get my hands on a pair of these please???
These are INCREDIBLE ❤
East Yorkshire UK
Wow I loved It is excellent work and Very very good This is a wonderful thing. Is this epoxy, or fiberglass or plastic? I would be grateful when responding 🌹🌹
I'm sorry I want to ask mister I want to ask what liquid is used
what is it called? the tool you used to compress the jeans you combined?
How much research went in to the production equipment design ?
Hey any chance you can get just the frames without the lenses for cheaper amount as of now they remained the same price weather you chose lenses or no lenses.
Can you show the black colored ones?
These should be lifetime warrantied for how much you charge for the glasses
Beautiful work. Do you have interest in networking with other innovators of sunglasses?
$250 quid!!
man i wish i was wealthy, id buy them in an instant. I wish you the best though, they look stellar, and I would like to support you.
Can you get Rx lens in this?
What music is that? I want more of it
Did you try some other fabrics as a base material? some flowery curtains might work as well
I've carried out a few experiments, but I have been focusing on denim fabric until I have a bit more time to explore other materials. The trouble with a patterned fabric like that is that you would lose most of it when it is in the shape of sunglasses, because of the small area involved. So unless the pattern was very small, you might not be able to tell what it is.
@@mosevic_eyewear I was curious about other fabrics also. like hand woven dupioni. something that has visible and interesting texture. but also. luster? love the BTS of your work
Interesting stuff, I graduated doing product design in Cornwall this year, it's a shame I didn't know about you whilst I was down there! Keep up the good work, and they don't look ugly at all. Any thoughts on development of this technique?
Thanks Louis, were you at Falmouth uni? I graduated in 2010. I don't understand your question though?
@@mosevic_eyewear Yeah, its a good course, I was just asking in terms of making it more efficient/other products? 🙂 It looks like denim has some really nice/interesting flex to it
@@LouisHv2 It could be made into all sorts of things using a similar process. However I don't have the time to explore any at the moment sadly. This keeps me busy enough. Yes it's very versatile. It's flexible and strong. At one point in the video you might have seen me hitting it with a hammer. I reinforce the temple arms with spring steel, because without this they would be bendy, but not very springy if you see what I mean. It needs the steel to return to it's original shape each time.
@@mosevic_eyewear really interesting stuff mate, I'll follow this with real interest 🙂
Teach me! Apprentice me up 😭
Muito bom. ;)
Prescription lenses possible
Чётко!
Take care with textile dust. Its very hazardous for lung and it may lead to lung ca.
I want
I get why it’s got to be so expensive but damn I wish I could afford one
Can this process be done with any type of fabric ?
as long as the fabric absorbs the resin. It's taken me along time to develop a way of making the finish nice and other fabrics might require a different way of finishing. Different thicknesses would complicate things too
@@mosevic_eyewear thank you.
I wish there was a school here in my country that taught skills like this. I would love to learn how to custom make my own eyewear brand.
Do you have a list of tools needed for this process?
how do i become your distributor in brazil
Where can I buy one those great glasses?
Try it with blue carbon fiber
how can i get one from SA
You can order from www.Mosevic.com

£235 / $305...... Nice pair but not that nice!! 🤣
The process is amazing but the end result is ugly.
Thanks..... I guess!
That's just not true, they might not be to your taste, but I quite like them.
I don’t agree, I have some previous models and I always get lots of positive comments. If you are a denim freak and appreciate British innovation and craftsmanship they are quite brilliant .
