I get it. I can't play them at all. my heart literally can't take the stress. but watching John play them allows for me, someone who loves scary stories, to enjoy the game . otherwise I'd have to play for 30 minutes take a break and come back the next day. horror movies are the same I can only watch them in small increments otherwise I get light headed and itchy which means I'm having a panic attack. watching someone else play a game takes the stress off me and I can always come back later and finish it at my leisure.
