I love percussion. All the drums, blocks, cymbals, everything. It's all great stuff.
Thanks!
Neil Peart of Rush used temple blocks during the middle sections of "The Trees". That was the first time I ever heard the instrument in action. It's a cool sound.
Very nice explanation. It would have helped if you had presented a comparison of plastic vs. wood for the wood block presentation. Love Vic Firth....always a quality company that has never let me down.
thank you for posting this! i'm trying to compose a new piece using woodblocks, this video helped me a lot
You're amazing, Vic. I'm learning a lot with your videos. Thank you!!

Just curious. Are woodblock carrying cases the same as for temple blocks?
Wait...what are temple blocks?
Sounds like those Japanese sticks which the Japanese musicians hit against each other at appropriate times of performance.
Are there specific pitches for these wood blocks?
No it’s untuned.
Yes, each block is designed and calibrated to make a specific tone. I don’t know what notes these are, but they are definitely specific notes..just like a drum set, if that helps?
No tuch the cajation

How to play lp blocks
Wood blocks sound like a woodpecker pecking a hollow tree.
