Built for the 1989 IMSA GTO series the car is powered by a 2.2-liter 5-cylinder turbo engine able to produce 720hp and 720 Nm of torque. Listen to that glorious sound!!

-Insanely angry sounding 5 cylinder
-All of the turbo noises
-side dump exhaust that shoots flames
-extra thicc wide body
-the coolest turbine wheels ever

Saw this car running in person,....driven by Walter Röhrl at the "one-and-only" Niagara Falls Trans Am street race of 1988. Utterly amazing......as the other cars came up to a 90 degree turn, and were backing off and braking....Walter goosed it some more and upshifted and floored it, .... my heart was in my mouth thinking he suddenly became insane and will drive STRAIGHT into that retaining wall,....and instead...he just motored around the corner. The most amazing race car scene I ever wittnessed. And yeah, the turbo pop-off valve... peep-peep-peep-peep in rapid succession......

Laguna seca 1989 two of these cars blew by us at the bottom of the corkscrew with an F40 on their ass the chirping and the what seemed like 3 foot side exit flames was sensational! Maybe I was just aw struck at the freedoms I had being fresh off the boat from OMSK the 5 cylinder sound is instantly recognizable!

Alex 90 that’s why i love my jetta. On a highway ramp, reving to 3-4k rpm you hear that sweet v10-like rumble. Since a long time i wanted to own a 5 cylinders car, and i bought one almost a year ago and i enjoy it everyday, smooth, torquy in midrange and great fuel milleage, but the best is the manual gearbox!

Martingoldfire on the north american market the beetle, the golf, the jetta and the passat came with an inline 5 2.5 liters. It had 150hp and 170hp. It’s quite smooth and fuel efficient. And most of all, reliable. You can have it with a 5 speed or 6 speed auto (not dsg) or a 5 speed manual. They stopped to produce them since 2015. Now we got the 1.8 tsi to replace this engine.

mongocrew4life It’s n/a. You know the 2.5 tfsi from the audi rs3/ttrs? It’s the same engine, without a turbo and without direct injection. The head of the vw 2.5 is derived from the Lamborghini Gallardo’s v10, even the exhaust manifold can be fitted on the head!

I remember seeing this car as a kid at Del Mar and Long Beach!! The blow off sound, flames coming out from the side, Hans Stuck driving like a maniac!! Hands down my favorite car of all time!!

The most amazing sound ever produced by mankind...
This car has also been made in a Hot Wheels Diecast replica. In which I finally got for the first time. Hans Joachim-Stuck was the driver of this Audi. And Walther Rohl co-driven with Hans in one event with him. In which of winning Seven events in the GTO division which they won the championship. The events they won was Summit Point in West Virginia, Mid-Ohio, Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas, Sonoma, Watkins Glen, Lime Rock in Connecticut, and Laguna Seca.

I remember seeing these Audi's at the Camel Del Mar GrandPrix in California about 30 years ago. Unfortunately it was only held for 3 years because of noise complaints. GTP, GTO, GTU car overdose. It was amazing. Unbelievable the acceleration and stopping power of these cars. I can still remember the smell of race fuel in the air......

The only trouble with GFOS is, (well, as well as the recent influx of drifting), there's always the comemntators talking away, when we'd probabloy rather concentrate on watchingand listening to the cars thank you.
Probably wouldn't take much to have the commentary livestreamed on a youtube channel so you could choose to tune into it.
The main problem is the leaderboard is staged, Only some cars give it hell and put up representative lap times, Generally the new cars, While the old cars like this beauty pewter around like my mum is driving....

I would have this car over anything else. That 5 cylinder sound is just so good. Thus, why I'm still keeping my VW Passat 2.5 5cyl.
It's a big reason why I've still got my Audi 90 20v after over 20 years of owning it. Just love the engine and sound. And the looks, design, engineering and quality!

My stepdads car was a audi 90 quattro, unfortunately the engine blew up just the otherday, and he is keeping it for me (at least I believe so) and when I can get a job in a year or so, its becoming my project car.. Im thinking maybe a 2jz swap but I don't know if it would fit
