    I have owned one of these over here in the UK for 3 years now. A superb piece of kit. You can cook anything on it given the amount of control you have over the heat. Fill one bay with charcoal and then cook by radiant heat the other end or with the lid down. The rotisserie is superb too - and huge - almost a metre long - enough for a suckling pig, several chickens or beef joints.
    Only one problem - the thermometer has given up the ghost so I buy a cheap s/steel oven one and leave it inside on one of the shelves.

    I have one of these. The best lighting option in my opinion is the Looftlighter, or an equivalent. Especially with the Rotisserie basket. Filling it with Charcoal or a mix of Charcoal and Briquettes, and then lighting it in three spots at the bottom of the basket with the Looftlighter is quick, easy, and a lot safer than pouring hot coals into the top slot. I noticed the comment about the drip tray. Of course, you would only empty that when the coals have gone out. If I grill in the evening, I will do it the next morning. Because we live by the sea, I then wipe some cooking oil on to the trays to prevent rust. Later models have three individual charcoal trays, as the large tray as seen here, is susceptible to warping. It really is a great barbecue, and adding smoke wood works well too. I also use a small Napoleon Pro285 Gas for convenience, eg; Breakfast bacon and eggs, mushroon and tomato!

    Hi Steve, thanks for that review on this - as it seems - awesome grill! I am so curious for some cooks on this Napoleon Pro605. Did you not post any or did I just not find them? I´d really like to know how this grill behaves when you want to do low and slow jobs like ribs or pulled pork. Have you any Information for me?

    Great looking grill Steve. I would have never guessed it was a charcoal grill. All the features of a gas/infrared grill with the use of charcoal, cool combination.

    Steve I currently have a natural gas Napoleon grill which I love. When I cook steaks I do so with charcoal. I checked out this video as I'm interested in buying a grill for charcoal use only. This grill is quite expensive here in Canada at $1,449 Canadian funds plus tax. Is there something I could buy instead of this grill to use on my current gas grill? Thanks for your help and keep up the great work.

    Steve, nice review. that grill has a lot of good features and looks very well built. the door in front of the bbq with the pull handle has to be for adding charcoal can it be added at any grate height ?? cant wait for you to cook on it especially on the rotisserie.awesome job brother.

    • @StokedOnSmoke
      @StokedOnSmoke  Před 9 lety

      Cris Workizer Cris, yeah man, that's for adding charcoal during the cook. I can't BELIEVE I forgot to show that! You're the first to call me out on that so I'll make sure to show that feature in my first cook. It just needs to stop raining here now! :)

  • @jwr223
    @jwr223 Před 9 lety

    I own 2 basic BBQ pro smokers.. I like them, the grates season so well its gonna be hard not to still use it, but this grill is what I'm looking for because of the ability to lower the coals so easily.. I mainly only do pork butts and chuck roast so this grill would be perfect for indirect smoking..

    @MRP78 Před 9 lety

    I love it! Can't wait to see you cook with it. Does it have a lighting port for an electric starter? I'm guessing the door in the front is for this use.

    • @StokedOnSmoke
      @StokedOnSmoke  Před 9 lety

      Hellfax I'm sure you could use the front door for that...but the instructions are pretty clear about using a chimney for lighting the grill, then using that front door to add additional briquettes as needed during your cook.

    what is your go to smoker now? I remember when you started on the WSM. Why is said smoker your go to smoker? if it's not the WSM, what makes the other smokers better? Just curious if it's worth it for me to get another smoker other than my 18.5 wsm. maybe this could be a video? you going over all the smokers you've used so far? love your stuff man. keep it up. Go gators. I used to live of 13th st in the NW part, back when there was still a blockbuster at the corner.

    • @StokedOnSmoke
      @StokedOnSmoke  Před 7 lety

      DUDE!! You've been following me a long time. Thanks so much for the support!! Small world...my college house when I was attending UF was on NW 7th Ave near 13th :)
      Short answer that I tell everyone now: There's no perfect smoker/grill....it all comes down to what you want. Convenience, consistency, smoker-only, smoker/grill/roaster combo? IMO...a buller (WSM) or barrel smoker (PBC), a pellet grill and a kamado is THE perfect setup. A lot of guys have WSMs and ask me what's next on the pricier options. I always say the next step is a pellet smoker/grill or kamado.
      But at the same time...I'm always quick to mention that if you love your WSM and cook some epic food on it and don't mind the mess of them, then there's no reason to get something else. At the end of the day though...we're dudes....and a lot of time we're like chicks when it comes to shopping for clothes.... we don't "need" another smoker...but why the hell not!!?? :)
      I'm still recovering from our loss on Sunday....we should have won that game, then fell apart.... :(

  • @thebuckeyebbq5424
    @thebuckeyebbq5424 Před 9 lety

    Looks amazing, can't wait to see it inaction. With charcoal basket control and airflow you should be able to do a reverse sear on your steaks.

    • @StokedOnSmoke
      @StokedOnSmoke  Před 9 lety

      Ryan T Ryan, I plan to do exactly that some time this week if it will stop raining every day...so keep an eye out. I'm gonna start with the grates all the way down and cook over indirect then raise them all the way up and sear real quick on the direct side to finish.

  • @Beans29
    @Beans29 Před 4 lety

    I am only worried that the drip tray and charcoal tray are not stainless steel, that is the killer for all charcoal grills. Even if you cover and clean your grill it is a matter of time before they rust.

    Everything was going good until you showed the ash/grease catcher. If you took that ash catcher out the remaining ash can fall into the storage area. Just thinking about it, who knows what if the coals that felling into the storage bin is still hot.... guess what fire in the bin where you stored the bag full of charcoal and lighting fluid

    Well isn't that a load of crap... porcelain coated cast iron, that's just what stops me from buying a damn BBQ.....WTF is wrong with plain Jane GOOD OLD SIMPLE CAST IRON FFS. I want to put some oil on it, treat it, and use a damn metal brush to clean my damn grill, NOT plastic. Can't use a good metal scrubber on that girly porcelain crap.
