- A 4K 60 FPS Walking Tour of Waterford City Centre, Ireland filmed in May 2024.
Lets go for a walk in the historic City of Waterford in the south east of Ireland and explore it's medieval streets and Viking heritage.
On the banks of the River Suir in the southeast of Ireland you will find Waterford City, a place brimming with Viking and Medieval History. Reputed to be the oldest city in Ireland it was settled by Viking Raiders as early as 853 AD. The name Waterford comes from an old Viking word meaning either Fjord of the Rams or possibly Haven From The Windswept Sea. Today’s walking tour will explore the medieval streets, historic buildings and visitor attractions of the city centre. The Viking Triangle contains a 40ft replica of a Viking Longboat constructed of Irish Oak, Reginalds Tower (one of the oldest buildings in Ireland) and a 23 metre Viking Sword called the Dragon Slayer that was carved from a single tree from the woods of Ballinamona.
Keep an eye out of the Sculpture of Strongbow & Aoife outside The Bishop’s Palace that represents one of the most significant moments in Ireland's tumultuous history. Strongbow otherwise known as Richard De Clare laid siege to Waterford in August 1170 with 200 knights and 1000 infantry. His victory and marriage to Aoife MacMurrough, Daughter of the King of Leinster immediately after the battle opened a flood gate of Norman invasions and signified the end of the Gaelic Kingdoms of Ireland.
Please take a moment to give the video a thumbs up and make sure you are subscribed as it will help me greatly to further explore this beautiful country. You can use the chapters in the timeline to see the street names and points of interest throughout the walking tour.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of Waterford City, Ireland.

places to eat and drink thank you.👋🍻👋
Thanks so much Roger!
Dear Peter!
This is a video that you have to watch again and again! Waterford is a spectacular mix of old and new, modern shops, traditional pubs, elegant restaurants. The many wall paintings are a bit unusual, the chess board is interesting and much more!
It is very difficult to take in the many attractions at once.
Thank you very much for the experience as always.
Dear Susan.
Thank you! I'm so happy you enjoyed the walk around Waterford. There is certainly a lot of things to see and visit in this old city. All the different murals and of course the giant chess board were interesting to see. Thanks so much again.
Have a lovely day.
Peter.

That's great. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Thanks for a lovely representation of my home city, we're very proud of it. I can only apologise for the awful election posters tied to lamposts in some of the shots, nobody likes them but it happens all over the country. We have a great county to visit asd well, well done Peter and thanks!
Thank you. Glad to hear you enjoyed the video. It was a pleasure to film in Waterford.
