I don't say this often but thank you Mazda for STILL using a traditional 6 speed auto and NOT a crappy CVT
Well said! Same here!
This is the single biggest reason why I bought a Mazda CX5 instead of any of its competitors. I like the feel and reliability of a good hydraulic automatic transmission in a daily commuter.
@@fjcarmo0369 Honestly I've been thinking of trading my 2010 Sentra for a 2016 CX 5
@@TomDeVito my friend bought a 2015 versa and his cvt gave out after 34,000 miles. Under warranty but still... I own a 2016.5 (2016 facelifted) cx5 and my friend loves it.
@@dgreatll Jesus Christ that's insane. I have 59,000 miles on mine and the CVT hasn't given out..yet *knock on wood* lol there's just something special about the CX-5. My ex girlfriend had a 2016 Mazda 3 she let me drive it and I gotta say it handled quite nicely
I own a 2021 Mazda CX-5 Touring and let's just say that even though it isn't packed with features, it's still a great car that satisfies me every time i drive it.
I own one and I can vouch for it. I especially love the driver assistance tech - Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Prevention (FCP), Automatic Cruise Control - they all work flawlessly. In fact, the FCP saved me from crashing twice during a 1-year ownership period. The best part is the handling of the vehicle, and the interior quality. Worth the money!
Best new addition to the TFL car review formula:
Nathan slowly moving around and fondling the vehicles he's attracted to.
This is best SUV in the compact segment. Better than a lot of luxury compact SUVs. Last winter, I went for a 3K mile road trip in a rented CX5 with my family, and the drive was just amazing. I personally own a Audi Q5 and this one beats Audi in some areas. 👍 great review
Question: how was de-frosting in the front and rear?
I saw one review complaining about it - foggy rear window all the time and it was taking long time to clear the front.
I did 2k in Norway, above arctic circle in the winter in CX-3. Amazing little thing. I wish Mazda had bigger trunk but incredibly comfortable vehicle for short people like me (170cm).
You didn't drove SQ5 tdi...
@@manuelrusu7052: and he said "in some ways"
manuel rusu lol how much is the price difference?
@@manuelrusu7052 i drove Audi Q5 and believe me,the quality and the feeling as a driver îs not so far!!
Mazda makes the best vehicles in every class. They just been underrated for far too long.
I am 5ft5. Tried most of Japanese SUVs... since I live in Japan ;)
So far the most comfortable was CX-5 and CX-8. I like sitting up right and can rest both of my elbows even though I am short.
The steering wheel regulation seemed tiny bit too short for me in RAV4 and Forester - strange, since I am the exact middle size guy in Japan for height and have longer reach than average.
I sat in RAV4 today and, well, nothing special for someone my height. It comes with 2.0l and direct shift CVT for the same price as 2.5l 6AT CX-5 in a higher trim.
They do shit backwards. I work for Mazda and maann it’s like they don’t want these to sell and just want to stack up on inventory.
@@t.f4738 What do you mean by them doing things backwards?
@@t.f4738 dipshit You dont work for Mazda, shame on you loser
Keep them underrated, it keeps the price cheaper
I test drove pretty much every SUV and Crossover before buying my CX-5. I think the driving experience and power are what put it over the top for me. Wasn’t super excited about less cargo room than competitors, but there’s proven to be enough for most of what I need. It’s a really outstanding vehicle and couldn’t be happier with my decision. If you’re remotely interested in getting an SUV or Crossover, you should at least test drive a CX-5.
John Petrick - hopefully you give it back soon and get something with a good transmission. Preferably one with a transmission that is going to last longer than 80k miles
@@Shehan.H96 lol wtf are you talking about? They're very reliable
Well there are lot of van and suv out there have more room but they are very sucky in many things else including some luxury brands too, there is no such thing perfect vehicle even you buy a Porsche or an Audi brand still you will find something lacking
John Petrick total agree with you there. In Oz, it’s best selling SUV.
I just got a CX-30 turbo and it is as fast as most sport coupes--if not faster under 40k--only a veloster N is faster--civic si--GTI--CVT impreza--Toyota 86 and subbie brz--those cars would get shamed in a drag race against my 30--Mazda =great cars.
Just bought the 2019 Mazda CX-5 grand touring and I can’t be any happier!!! Test drive all 3 RAV4, CRV and Mazda hands down beat them in driving experience and the way it handles 😍😍😍🥰
Bought a 2019 CX5 GT earlier this year, and my wife and I couldn't be more happy with it. We drove most of the competition, and when we got to the Mazda, it took the cake. Best design, best ride, best interior.... all for around 35,000, I honestly don't think you can beat it.
same thoughts here!
Mazda as an overall brand is exceptional, not just the cx5. I wish them good fortune in the future because I’d love to see more performance models from Mazda.
Very true! If I had the money, I'd have both my 2019 CX5 signature and a 6 (I had a 2014 touring with tech package, then a 2016 GT fully loadedp... As much as I love my CX5, I still love and miss the 6!)... The new 3 is another gem and the CX9 is a thing of beauty despite its size... Great lineup, indeed!
@@chriscerullo3614 I have an old Mazda 6 (07 model, my first car!), which one would you recommend as an upograde, the 6 or the CX-5?
Got one a couple days ago, first thing I noticed- handling, feels so connected to the road, my wife loves the exterior design
Adrian B , oh, yes! It hugs the road! S-M-O-O-T-H! Comfortable, peppy, untouchable, as far as I am concerned!
I LOVE MY CX5! I’ve owned 5 Mazda’s, they are the best cars!!
AGREED! Love my Mazda 3
Agreed..after getting a CX9 2 yrs ago got another Mazda last month (CX3)....very reliable vehicles!
Same here! I own a Mazda6 and a Miata. Even though they’re older, I love em both!
I've owned 7 Mazdas. Currently have a '14 Mazda3 GT hatchback and a '16 CX5 Touring AWD. Nothing beats the driving dynamics of a Mazda unless you move way up in price point. They are very reliable too. Can't imagine driving anything but a Mazda!
Bought our 4th a Mazda CX5 2019 Maxxsport after Mazda 3 Sdn 2017, 3 Hb 2018, 6 Sdn 2017.
It is the best. And that's why I bought one
Congratufuckinglations Mark.
I dumped my p.o.s civic hatchback for a 2019 CX-5 Touring. I love it. Average 31-32 mpg. Only grip is the arm rest needs to be adjustable (forward and back).
Good catch. I would have liked the center armrest a couple of inches longer (or able to be adjusted forward).
@Duke Silver on the 19' cx-5?
@Duke Silver Better then the fuel in the oil issue Honda has. Lol
You got used to that in the Civic. Lol
@Duke Silver Thanks, I'll do some research
The CX-5 signature is a BARGAIN when you consider the fact that both the rav and cr-v can be optioned up to 38 grand and neither of them have premium materials like the CX-5's nappa leather and genuine wood trim or have a premium driving experience. Not to mention the fact that the CX-5 Signature has 50% more power than both of those. If you want something comparable to the 38 grand rav and cr-v you can spend 32 grand on a CX-5 Grand Touring which still has arguably nicer materials.
Or you can purchase a top trim Hyundai Santa Fe for the same MSRP as the CX-5 Signature trim with vastly more interior space, arguably an equally attractive interior with nappa leather, a better infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, and a user lockable 50/50 torque split among other features.
Jay Trabucco exactly! In response to the previous poster about the Santa Fe, sorry but the CX-5 is more handsome than the Santa Fe, in my opinion
Stephen Hendricks equally attractive!?..🤦🏽♂️
I’d rather pull up to my friends or relatives house in a new Mazda than a new Hyundai
@@jayt6023 You're certainly not alone in placing a higher priority on impressing your friends and relatives than other aspects of a vehicle.
This Mazda CX-5 is more luxury and up scale than rav4 or crv or rouges in my own personal opinion the cx5 is a higher step than competitors that’s why it’s price higher but quality and reliable suv that needed in daily use. Trust me I own a Mazda and they are priced right for the quality you get and the way they drive
The Rogue is a cheap, unreliable POS compared to the CX-5.
Nathan. Always great delivery, style and practical. A pleasure to watch.
I had a 2018 CX-5 GT and loved it and a kid turned in front of me and totaled it. I went and got a 2019 CX-5 GT with the Premium Package and OMG it is awesome and I totally agree with everything you said. The G-Vectoring was fantastic but the 2019 has G-Vectoring Plus which is amazing. This is a poor mans BMW. This is the best vehicle that nobody is buying. Test drive one and you will be sold!
Just got one and first drive was for 3 hours im in love with the cruise you pretty much control the car from the steering wheel. And the cornering my legs got to relax for almost 1 hour with the smart cruise control.
It’s a shame that the cx5 is not selling as well as it deserves.
Agreed
It’s okay man!! I like cars that you don’t see millions of in one block. That is such turn off for me.
These have started popping up all over the place in my area within the past two years. It's a welcome addition to all the Subaru Foresters and Outbacks which traveled in herds.
TheFlea1987 Not much of Subaru fan
@@tootsiejoon They became boring to me.
As a single person, this would work for me. Not in love with the information system, but I might be able to live with it. I would get the Signature trim, which is a bit pricey but is probably worth it. I have a friend that has one of these and says it's the best driving car in it's class.
Treads Or you could get a Grand Touring trim with the GT Premium Package or the GT Reserve trim
Then wait for the CX-30.
Treads I was sold on the infotainment system either, but I’ve actually adapted too it fairly quickly & I like it
Treads : You can get it with Android Auto / Apple CarPlay.
The infotainment system actually works well once you get used to it. I love being able to navigate it with the dial in the center console. I never use the touchscreen.
Love my 2018 cx-5. I get a lot of compliments on it from friends/family.
Just got mine yesterday in white - couldn't be happier!
Spot on review!
We’ve owned a 2015 AWD GT since new and I have to say it’s been a great CUV. Coming from a 2001 Dodge Durango it was a revelation! Handling, comfort, MPG and reliability is excellent. We’ll probably get a new one in 2021.
Bought one yesterday and love it.
I bought one after test driving the competition - this car blew them away, not least because of the torque. I agree the handling is superb, as is the appointment. LOVE IT.
If I'm not mistaken the CX-5 is the best selling SUV in Australia.
Mazdas sell very well in Australia but mainly with the diesel engine. Time will tell if that engine choice is a popular one in the US. I'm skeptical.
You are correct.
@@stephenhendricks103 not really. Mazda sell more petrol CX5s over the Diesel but yes they are the best selling SUV in it's class. I have the 2015 CX5 GT so I know why that is, they are reliable and awesome to drive
Reko Sri you were right, CX 5 is best selling suv and Mazda 3 is best selling compact here in Australia
Yall know style
I agree with you on this one! Im surprised why that vehicle is not selling better than the other crossovers! To me it looks way better, performs way better, and its a lot more comfortable! and to drive! Its way more fun!😎👍
Love my 2016 CX5! This one looks so friggin cool though! It's one of the few SUV's that actually accelerates when you want or NEED it to!
Got it as a gift recently and I'm in love
Just bought one tonight! And this thing is AWESOME!
Changed from cx3 to cx5. 2nd up model in South Africa called Dynamic. Very happy with my drive
I have a 2011 Mazda Miata and after taking it to the dealership for inspection and checking out the new cars it's the best Japanese brand in my opinion. Definitely gonna get the new Mazda 6 in a manual or a CX3
im miata mike mazda 6 manual is gone for 2019😬,
@@Brandonjamlarue they will be bringing it back. They're making a new inline 6 cylinder coupe with a manual option. From what I've read
Just bought a 2020 Touring with the Preferred Package. That's the 'sweet spot' for the CX-5--well equipped and well priced. Very happy with it.
Nice review! I Got the Signature after having a 2017 GT and the upgraded turbo engine, the soft nappa leather, and the useful 360° camera are a worth the price of the upgrade. And actually, If you shop diligently and find the right dealer, you can get this amazing vehicle for more like 37-38k which, to put things in perspective, is only about 3,500 more than the 2017 GT with premium package I had with no turbo or 360 camera... So, shop carefully! Also, I've found that in cruise mode on the highway averaging 65-75mph I get more like 30-33 mpg versus the advertised 27, which is really impressive considering the extra power and larger engine... All in all, really amazing vehicle that is worth the price!
@ chris cerullo - I'm super excited !!! I love that you love your car !!! Could you do me a favor in the future?? Could you please use more explanation points ??!!!
What a piece of shit this car is
Love Mazda. I had a bunch of Mazdas over the years and loved each and every one of them to different degrees. Drove a 86' 323 over 200k, a 98' Protégé about 150k, a 2004 about 150k, and a 2008 cx-9 and all of them ran well at the end. I wish they'd come out with a crossover in between the cx-5 and the cx-9. The cx-7 was a bomb back in the 2000's, I wish they'd re-release a new improved version. Mazda is the most underrated and under appreciated car maker in the business in my opinion.
Bought one in June 2019.
This car exactly, same colour too!
Fantastic vehicle. VERY happy with it.
I see alot of Rav 4’s and CRV’s around where I live but, also seeing more and more CX-5’s too.
Mazda’s entire lineup of vehicles are just b-e-a utiful!
If you’re looking for a new vehicle in this segment, you must check out Mazda.
I absolutely love my 2018 Cx5 GT. I travel abt 100 miles round trip 5 days a week and get an average of 33 mpg. It’s fast enough for me and I love using apple CarPlay. It’s the right sized vehicle for me coming from a Toyota Camry. Only grip is the gas tank is way to small.
What size is it? Thanks😀
I have a 2019 CX5 with the midrange Touring trim. No turbo. Just got back from a 2000 mile round trip - speed limits were 75, 80 and 85. Even at those speeds, it got a little over 28 mpg, which is pretty dang good. I paid just under $25k for it. It has a pretty dang lux interior. And he's right....the dang thing handles like a sports car. Never thought I'd see myself in a SUV, but I LOVE this CX5. I don't haul a lot, so cargo room isn't a big deal for me, but I do oftentimes transport my bicycle, and I can drop the rear seats and fit the bike without having to remove the front wheel.
Finally - I did not get 4WD. Not enough bad weather and if the weather is too crappy, I stay in. But I took it out after it snowed pretty good and had absolutely NO problems in the snow/ice.
What was the sticker price if you paid under $25 for a Touring? Thanks.
@@michaelmaxwell568 I should clarify that I did NOT get AWD. I really don't have a need for that. Sticker was just over $29k, then I used USAA buyers service and also got a loyalty discount for my 2016 Mazda 6. There was also one other $500 discount...can't remember what that one was for. It took the price down to just under $25k. FWIW, I got the white (premium color). I am retired, so if the weather is too crappy, I won't go out. But even with FWD, I had to take my daughter to the airport one morning when the traffic reports were saying "this is the worst we've seen the streets all winter". And it made it thru everything perfectly.
I don't care who sells more, what I care is this car is way better than those brands that sells better. The design and interior of this car is enough for me to like it plus the driving dynamics without CVT is a pleasure to own one. You can't be wrong with the CX-5
I agree, but at the end you journalist always talk about top trim models and I know that's what they give out, but you should ask for lower more mainstream trims. The price difference between the lower trims and top trims could be more than 10k! I always like to see entry models and see how much manufactures are willing to give for the least amount of money.
Blame the manufacturers. They're anxious to put their best foot forward when they give journalists the opportunity to review their vehicles and that almost always means a top trim version.
@@stephenhendricks103 the problem is that if you drive the top trim regardless of brand they all feel really good and you will have positive first impression. Drive the low model such a Hyundai Tucson and they feel really cheap with nothing but hard plastics. Mazdas low trims actually feel decent, but you do lay more.
David Zavala Don’t ever buy a lower trim. How are the automakers going to make their profit by making loaded entry level trims!!! In all seriousness though I agree with you.
Buy a mid level trim if money matters. A bottom trim is usable, but not as worth it
@@boxlad7583 The "touring" trim is the best value for the money
own this car in Europe and totally enjoy it every day, especially on highways, it is great! Support every argument, wondering how far Mazda will go with the next generation of CX-5 will it be 100% luxury model already? :)
Great video! Thank you!
Mazda's have so much heart and soul. I wish there was more around, it could really help there tech and dev $$$ make Mazda as popular as some others. It's also kinda cool not seeing so many makes it more unique and I thnk almost every mazda new and old on the road always looks super fierce and clean.
To b honest
The car looks so small and cramped
2018 owner here, great car. A bit slow with the 2.5L non turbo. Decent gas consumption. Plastic trim scratches pretty easily. Piano black trim scratches if you breathe on it.
Got mine this week for my business. Our 4th mazda for private and business use.
Just bought a 2021 CX-5 CPO for my daughter. Best choice in the segment if you don't need a hybrid.
I bought one b/c of the great 6-speed Trans that rev-matches in manual mode, MPG which is great in the non-turbo models, and steering feel, which is best in class. The thing that really sets the
CX-5 apart is that it drives more like a sports car than an SUV.
Their red colored suv is stunning
sadly it falls off the car. They have issues with it.
Not on this model, they fixed the problem for the 2019, I have one in Soul Crystal Red and it looks stunning at 5 years old.
What are you talking about. These things are everywhere. Everyone loves them. I don't own one myself, we have a HRV as a second car but we are considering it.
Highway mpg rating is misleading. I own the Signature and I'm getting 32 mpg highway at a steady 65 mph. What is really nice about the turbo engine is because of the ample torque you don't feel any strain from a standstill even with the a/c running. You don't have to turn the a/c off for merging and passing.
Had mine for 2 weeks (coming from a Mazda 6), still haven't found a flaw. Easily the best car I've owned and easiest to drive.
It's all good when you know you can fit a body in the boot/trunk.
Great honest review...You did SUPER...Agree the CX5 deserves a 2nd look
First look for me. Looking for a CX-5 for my grandson's first car.
Loved pretty much everything about my test drive in a 2019 GT w/PP except for one big thing. At the end of my ten minute test drive, the driver's seat were noticeably pushing my legs together. Don't know if the side bolsters are too stiff/tall or if the seat is narrow but people have complained about this on CX-5 forums. Some people don't have a problem with the driver's seat at all.
Anyone interested definitely needs to take a longer test drive
The seats are stiffer and more narrow, so high or overweight people might struggle. Also they are design for a correct driving position - straight. A lot of people thing they cool with their silly low position. ;)
Took my 2017 up and through Illinois Gulch last week, so if for some mad reason you want to actually off-road it’s capable of that, too.
The CX-5 is awesome! I was quite impressed when I had a non-turbo Touring model as a loaner. They should make the next gen longer and wider. I was comfortable in the loaner, but that back seat is cramped!
We love you Nathan !!!
We're going to go with the CRV but I've had one of these as a rental and it was a fantastic car. . . if you don't have as great of a need for kids or space than I'd consider this vehicle because of the premium style and comfort.
I have a 13 cx5 and absolutely love it I get 27 mpg on base and the awd works amazing I can anything I need in it and it has ok power
How much have you spent on maintenance? Cost 4 new Tires? Any new brakes since 2013?THANKs😀
@@sandraboyle2520 well I've had it for only a year I'm the 2nd owner. I live in upstate NY and have had no problems in the snow or playing in the mud all I've had to do was oil changes and rotating the tires
"Even standing back here it deserves a slap..."
Got to love this guy... 😂
Traded in my '16 CX-5 for the '19 Turbo ... Wow! ... 26.2 MPG combined on 93 octane. Bit of turbo lag but still, what a fun/practical SUV .. Until they MazdaSpeed the CX-5, I'm keepin this one.
This thing is a Gem 💎
I have a 2018 touring model and I love it! Definitely upgrading to a GT when my lease is up, but still an awesome driving and solid car.
Can I ask why you want to upgrade to the GT? I'm seriously considering buying a CX5 but am not sure if Touring or GT would be better.
I also have a 18 Touring on lease. With premium package added. The only 2 features I'd add from GT - and they are minor - are power front passenger seat and HUD. That's it. That's all. My Touring has everything else I need!
4 Mazda’s and love them
If I was in the market for a crossover I would probably go with the CX-5. My wife has a crossover, and we thought about getting a new one (probably a CX-5) when we had a major repair to do on her current Equinox, but she decided to go ahead with the repair.
Great review very popular here at Australia
The fact is that enthusiasts like Nathan don’t represent the majority of the consumer for CUVs. The market in this segment care more about practicality and utility than handling, design and appeal. Mazda is for niche market of people who like sporty vehicle that gives elegant experience without paying luxury prices. That’s why they have limited dealer network and marketing campaign.
Exactly!
For me, it's between leasing the CX-5 Grand Touring with the GT Premium Package & AWD in Deep Crystal Blue Mica, the Tuscon Ultimate AWD in Dusk Blue, or the RAV4 Limited in Blueprint with AWD & the package that adds all of the optional interior upgrades with the Weather package, the JBL audio system, & the panoramic sunroof. Although I feel like I lean more to the Tucson since it has everything I like & want at a possibly less expensive lease price
NileshR12 The new Rav sucks. It feels so cheap
We live in New Zealand and have the new model CX-5. The Diesel model with the 2.2 twin turbo . We drove the 2.5 petrol model you're promoting first but, honestly, there's no comparison.
Thanks for the commercial for Mazda. I’ll definitely consider it for my next automobile.
Took a GS for a test drive today. My impressions: Major gripe: Driver seat only has a 6 way power adjustment. And the lumbar support consists of a handle located almost behind the front seat....you have to manually push the handle. Once you awkwardly do this, there is hardly any support so it's not worth the bother. Pretty cheap compared to the competition at this price range, which usually have 10 power adjustment, including lumbar. Some road noise as well. Pros: Nice interior, decent ride, excellent sound system, and very functional space and utility.
in california theyre selling well
But I DID buy a 2019 MAZDA CX 5 GT Reserve. What a great compact SUV. I can easily compare it to the lower to mid-level model levels of ACURA, Jaguar, Lexus, and other luxury com[act SUVs. Great styling, handling and quality.
Very few dealers is a sales factor
It's a great car. And its design is outstanding.
I think they’re great I’m going to buy 2020 version of the signature
It's pretty popular here in Canada. I see way more Mazda 6 on road as well
We bought a Mazda CX-5 Signature Edition and it is indeed awesome😊
Thanks you great job !
Will luxury or premium SUV buyers give this one a chance? I don't know. One thing is for sure, though: this SUV definitely looks and feels more premium, more special than everything else in the class, including the new RAV4. I chose one in 2017 over the competition, and now with the Signature trim, it's in a different league.
Informative review👍🏼 I’ve been thinking about trading in my Mercedes Benz GLK for a cx5.
I downsized from a BMW X5 M because I was fed up spending a fortune each month to do 5k miles a year. The CX5 is a good car for its class with a build quality which is equally as good as the entry level Mercedes, BMW'S & JAGUAR SUV'S, all of which I've driven. The real clincher is that it costs me 60% less per month to own the CX5 for the same 5k pa!
@@spikeytop8982as well as very good build quality it’s also fantastically equipped, the HUD is excellent, I came from an older Lexus and it has as good or better interior, way better handling and road feel and a virtually perfect balanced ride, it’s tremendous value.
wow. best and creative review
Seriously this is my next car next year. Ive read and watched a lot of reviews now of this, vw Tiguan, rav 4 and even mid size cars etc, and this is still my choice. Hope by next year, theyd improve the infotainment
They really are a step above in terms of features and it’s a Mazda which means it’s fun to drive.
i don't think I've seen a non SG non turbo review on youtube...pretty smart mazda
I'm actually considering leasing one
I love love love my Mazda3 and was actually going to upgrade to the CX-5 but need a bigger family vehicle. Mazda, as a brand, is phenomenal. I will always recommend Mazda to anyone looking for a new car!
Amelia Davies - CX-9 ??
@@btl4220 definitely a possibility.
They are amazing beautiful cars!!!
Theyre better now because they got away from the grips of Ford
Like a century ago. Lol
Facts
Ford actually left Mazda just prior to the global financial crisis in order to cut costs. Ford called this “One Ford”. Mazda though could have gone one of two ways. They were losing a lot of money post Ford, and could have taken from the Ford parts bin. Instead they decided to completely reinvent themselves. This meant for example starting not only with complete cleansheet for vehicles, but their processes. In one stage of the transformation they did something as simple as physically moving engineering and design beside each other and using software that would shorter the feedback loop between the two teams. Mazda studied samurai sword making with a local steel company to patent what is still the most tensile steel in the car industry worldwide for the sake of saving weight. They decided not turn both diesel and gasoline engines on their head. The Diesel engine itself requires a long comment in how they got there.... but I digress. Mazda May be small, but they spend more of their revenue in R&D than any other Japanese car maker and should be congratulated for their efforts. And while Ford has basically pulled out, Toyota has noticed and invested heavily to ensure they can include Mazda engines and future engineering wins in their vehicles whilst providing hybrid & battery tech to Mazda.
Glenn Stewart great info Glenn
Thank God!
I Bought a CX 5 GTR.. in July 2019.. it's such a Joy to Drive.. looks . Power. Handling.. if you are on the fence.. jump on it. It's sexy
Just so everyone knows -- the usb ports are anemic and don't adequately charge an iphone or pixel. But Mazda will sell you an "upgrade" console that will do so for only $500. So either get that in your deal or factor it into your price.
I’ve got a 2019 signature model and they upgraded the usb ports, it has fast charging now.
I’ve been driving Mazdas for over 20 years, including 3 CX-9’s over the years, a Mazdaspeed 3 that is moderately modded, and a 2016 CX-5 (my wife’s daily driver). I drove the CX-5 fully expecting to buy one as my daily driver. I drove it and was not impressed as I was expecting.....so I started shopping around and watching CZcams videos and discovered the new Acura RDX. WOW! I bought the A-Spec model and love it. Fun, great seats, amazing stereo, 4 cylinder with turbo (defunded from the Civic Type R). I noticed that there are at least 2 aftermarket tuning apps to give it some more punch. No one is more surprised than me, but I’m loving my RDX!
Which rdx do you have and what year?
I bought a 2019 RDX A-Spec.
I bought mine already.
Nice review, Needs a bigger info screen!!
This is an amazing car u get a lot of value for your money
The CX5 is a great vehicle. Couldn’t be happier. Drives great, handles great, Bose system is very good and it looks better than anything in its class
I just leased a new Grand touring 2019 CX5 in Crystal Blue metallic w/black leather, love the look and leather. A few complaints, no remote start built on with the car and remote, arm rest needs to adjust higher and further up if no drinks are in cupholder. Make rear seats slide back so extra room when no cargo space needed. Make the driver seat able to go further back and down, I feel like I sit too high still. Still a great car but needs a little changes as mentioned.
I remember reading that their auto start for the vehicle is in the app mazda has. But it does stink it doesnt come on the key fob.
I have one just like that, but it's red! Awesome car! 😎
Btw, it's called Takumi Plus version in my country.
The only reason why I didn't buy a Mazda CX-5 was because the dealer in my area here in the eastern part of Canada, gave me such a very low trade in value on my vehicle as compared to two other
dealer's here selling very competitive vehicles
Good review Nathan, thanks.
I'm starting to enjoy my 3 month old Akera (Signature) 2.5T after a decent drive in the country at last to show its strengths. Still not sure I will like it more than my outgoing 2010 Outback 3.6 ( 5 speed auto, which I liked very much). I bought a Mazda because CVT is now Subaru's choice of transmission
