Facts 😆😂🤣
Well I’m coming from the automotive and guitar hobby so this is nothing. 😂
LMFAO
Yikes!
Tell me about it!
This is actually the best review of an Audio Technica turntable ever made in my opinion. It truly shows the consumers what they get. Such a shame it's only possible to give one thumbs up, because this video deserves at least a million.
Dude, you rock.
Stay awesome over there.
Thank you so much!
My fiancée and I have always wanted like a chill room where we could watch movies, listen to music, create crafts, and create like more of a dedicated family space. Thank you for this video, I ended up buying her this with some speakers and a James Blunt vinyl for Christmas. I'm excited to see where this journey takes us.
I just got one of these today, I’m absolutely in love with it! I was torn between the 60x and the 120x, didn’t want to spend too much but wanted something better than the 60x. This video brought this specific model to my attention, thank you so much!
Awesome enjoy 😎
I'm picking one up tomorrow open boxed for $150. I'm jacked!! I have a lp60 and it's ok but is super light, only around 6 lbs. and it feels cheap. The LP3 will be a good upgrade. I have to have an automatic and this should be perfect for me. Like you, didn't want to spend the money on a LP120 and I don't like that it's manual. LP3 for the win!!!! Glad you love yours.
I've watched this video before, but I'm watching it again because I'm in love with my AT-LP3 and can't get enough of it haha!
Awesome!
Hi I just bought mine. Do you find that the tone arm becomes unbalanced when you close the lid?
@@NashrayT I haven't noticed it personally and I always play my records with the dust cover down. I would confirm the anti-skate matches the counterweight balance (the default recommendation is 2), and I also used a tracking force gauge to confirm the track force, and I haven't noticed any issues. @Record-ology Do you have any ideas?
Can you list your whole setup man?
Nice review. I just saw a review of the same turntable from "the audiophile man" and he spent the whole time putting the table down for being too cheap and making fun of the fact that it has a MM and MC switch in the back saying you'd be crazy to put a moving coil cartridge "worth buying" on it without even testing it. Followed by a bunch of pretentious audiophile jargon.
Thank you for showcasing sensible products in a positive light. I would've bought this if I hadn't just upgraded my current table 😭
This is the model I settled on after years of dealing with a cheap all-in-one. At the time there were no reviews on CZcams. Thanks for posting this. I’ve enjoyed my LP3. Did recently have to do a speed adjustment though.
I also own a LP3. I thought it was perfect, especially for the money. Very nice features, well build and a good sound. But you mentioned it's weak point: Speed. To fast, around 34 rpm, but ok, that varies. BUT also occasional slowing down with wow and flutter of sometimes 0,4! So a somewhat inconsistent motor. Mostly it plays well, but this shouldn't be the case. I read other users had the same problem. What a pity, in all other departments it's a very fine turntable.
purchased one a few months ago and would have loved to have seen this review before purchasing 😅 none the less great turntable
I bought this turntable after watching this video so thank you for the information.
It arrived the other day and I love it!
Hi everybody!
Sorry for my english....
I bought in this week the one of these turntable. I think this turntable is the one of the best choise in the basic level turntables. I'm hungarian, this turntable is here 59.990 forint. It's about 180 euros or 200 dollars.
Sound quality is good, but I think when the automation works is a little bit loud for me. Overall, this is a great player in its class. Great video!
Thanks for reading!
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Enjoying my LP60X but have acquired a ton of old records at thrift and used record stores. Really want a second turntable to hook up to my living room receiver and may step up to this one for the next table. Thanks for the great review. Even two and a half years later this was the best review I could find of the unit. Really happy with the LP60X and with this being basically the same with an improved tone arm and future cartridge options it seems perfect.
But it has a fixed output cable that looks cheap and nasty.
I got one of these early last year and fell in love with this TT! I went through so many players in the last year or 2 and couldn't find the perfect TT until this beauty. The sound, (even with the standard needle) was exactly the same as I remember from when I was a kid in the 80's.. Dunno what it sounds like with a modern amp but using an old school amp, Realistic SA-1001 is simply stunning.. The Golden sound from the Golden Era has come back from the dead in my household. Although, I do have one downer with this model.. 2 months in, I had a problem with my anti-skate which is the key to the perfect spin. So I decided to return and found myself an older / 2nd hand Pioneer which was my best TT up to date. But as older gems do come to an end I decided to go back to the AT-LP3 in white and yet again, I had another let down with the anti-skate. Faulty.. Was purchased online so sending it back for a replacement which is a bit of a hassle but I'm really hoping third will be a charm!
I've got one and it's brilliant, upgraded cartridge to a at95 which improved it and yes it's a great TURNTABLE!!!
Dope. I have a stupid habit of buying things, using it and THEN watching reviews. Glad I made a good purchase.
I got this one 4 months agot personally in don't care if has not got Bluetooth got enough around the house it's a great record player
Great video. No long boring intros, just straight to the point. Subscribed 👍👍
Thank you!
Thanks for the review. I just bought one of these for my daughter and a pair of Steljes NS3 powered blue tooth speakers. Sounds very good indeed. Very happy teenager. 👍
Glad I could help!
Never understood why people go through all the trouble to have quality source material (LP’s) just to have the signal go into Bluetooth.
Anyone that's thinking about buying a cheapo Crosley or an LP60 should buy this turntable instead. The quality is bang for your buck and it certainly won't damage your records. Having the upgradeable cartridge and adjustable counterweight with anti skate is worth it.
Thank-you very much for such an informative review. I'm considering getting back into vinyl (been collecting CDs since 1985; now have 6,100+ of them), and saw a link to this turntable on Amazon. Your review helped me understand the features of this unit. Thanks again.
UPDATE: Guess I'll have to consider this and not the more expensive AT-LP7 model. I see that this model is US$199 on the Amazon U.S. website, but here in India on the local Amazon site, it's US$650! God knows what the more expensive LP7 would go for.
Thank you for watching and commenting! Good luck with your search!
AT Lp3 Model is Fantastic..
6:15
talk about not twisting the belt... :P
I know hahahahahah
So, the upshot is they gave an LP60 a real tonearm and a preamp that handles both MM and MC cartridges, and dialed the list price up to $250 (on sale as I write this for $199), but it's still a kinda cheap belt drive. You're completely within range of an LP120 at that price, and the LP120 is a direct drive 'table.
Fair point.
It really is a smart-looking turntable. I can see why you love it.
Glad you liked it! It is a really good one!
I had this very model I was very pleased with its performance for its money. Now I am totally pleased Audio-technica At LP 120 x usb bk.
Which one is better?
Thank You for interesting review of this vinyl record-player!
This is a decent turntable; it has a good arm, and the supplied AT91R is good performer. The plinth is pretty solid, and made of a decent plastic. The auto mechanism is, as you say, the same as that used in a bunch of other turntables like this one, and those below it, but it's a good, clean, simple design that just works, and is very quiet in operation.
I bought one of these last year to see how it stacked-up; I had to adjust the motor speed slightly as it ran about 1% fast, but now it's solid at 33.3rpm (as measured by RPM iPhone app). I like the sound quality; it's not lacking any detail or presentation in comparison to the Rega RP1, or Project Primary (with acrylic platter) that I can hear, though it's not quite as 'spacious' with it's imaging.
I also have the AT-LP120USB which I do like, but I'd take the AT-LP3 in preference as it is an automatic, and the motor/belt drive is quite than the AT-LP120's ever-so very slightly noisy motor!
And as with the AT-LP120, this LP3 has a fairly heavy steel plate in the base to add mass and prevent unwanted resonances.
It's a very good 'budget' turntable that sounds far better than it should for it's price (£169.00 UK when I bought mine).
Glad you like it, and gave it a good, well detailed review.... even if you did twist the belt when you put it back on the motor spindle!! Lol! :-D
lol I DID twist the belt! Thats funny because that's exactly what I was saying NOT to do! Hahahahaha. BTW the new LP120XUSB has all but eliminated the motor noise. Thanks for your comment!
to Steve's stuff I to have the audio technica AT-LP120USB I I've had for 3anda half years to this date I never heard any motor noise on my turntable,I have read alot of reviews on these turntables,I will hear some noise when I clean the albums but that noise is normal cause motor is fighting against the cleaning brush or cloth you may use but once I stop it is very quiet JRo
good evening a question, how do you fix the speed of this turntable if it spins faster? from the at-lp3 turntable
I like the fact that they used a rubber mat this time instead of the felt one
Agreed!
I have the AT LP 60. After seeing some of the comments, not so sure this would be for me. I want the LP 120 or better. Maybe someday. I still enjoyed review.
Great video, one critque: Why not route the audio from the turntables/preamps directly into your analog to digital converter rather than setting up a microphone infront of the speakers? This way we can get a better idea what's going on, for instance, how much rumble one turntable has vs. another. Otherwise, we're hearing your speakers through our speakers/headphones and that might add colorations and resonances that obscure what's coming out of these units. Thank you!
Lovely record player, it’s really GROOVY
Thank you thank you, I will be here all night.
The joke is because records have grooves, and it’s a record player...
It was subtle but I did grasp it :)
@@Recordology haha, good job. 👏🏻
Great review...Looks a brilliant turntable....Again,another temptation !!!....Cheers..Ade
This is a SUPER WOW!! Beautiful machine
Very nice. A great intermediate between the 60 and 120. Wouldn't it be great if they included a random record with each unit?
Agreed!
This is the turntable of my dreams! So bad it's so expensive and I'm just a college student 😔
I have a LP120 & LP5 love them both. Nice review.
The so called purists say automatic turntables result in bad sound quality, but I am not convinced, I have heard DUAL and Thorens Autos they sound and operate amazingly.
the red headshell really looks classy
I really really like this turntable. This is a proper "every man's" turntable.
Your mic clips like crazy sir
Nice little turntable 👍👍👍👍
I know it's entry level and rather affordable for most people but I cant get over the lack of a strobe on a belt driven turntable. I would like to check the sppeds accuracy and how stable the table is turning. Other than that, it doesn't look like a bad deck for the complete novice.
Requires a strobe disc....
Alright that's it. Im saving up for this and im gonna get it.
Hahahah awesome
I use seperate turntables for my Vinyls and my 78s because they mostly need different pressure of the stylus and it is a lot of work to alway do all the settings when change. So if someone has 78s it makes sense to have an own player only for these.
I'll keep my lp50 it does what I want to do listen to music don't have to have fancy stuff besides I've got many many turntables
This was a good review, really helpful
Glad it was helpful!
I own one. This turntable has one issue, but it's an important one: Speed. To fast and occasional slowing down (wow sometimes 0,4!!). Comments from other users mention this problem. A pity, because for the rest it's such a nice turntable!
I may get one of these when my Magnavox FP1413 quits
It’s a nice turn table I’m going to get it on Amazon today but the Bluetooth version simply because it doesn’t come with rca Inter conector leads so I can buy my own most probably Chord at £46 a mitre to connect it to my Marantz NR1200 amplifier is just what I’m looking for a nice fully automatic turn table with the choice of using my own rca leads I’m going to buy in white looks very nice for £269 on Amazon UK. Thank you for the great video peace ✌️
Such a beautiful turntable
Suggestion: Instead of a coin, use a Crosley 45 adapter. You can get one at most Books A Million! It works well!
They do pack them Good 👍👍👍👍
I WOULDN'T upgrade the cartridge it is a very good one
Brilliant review. Am deciding between this and the Sony PS-LX310BT as they are similar price points (as I am writing this). This video is swaying me towards this one. The thing that scares me as a beginner is the weight and anti skidding, I just dont want to get this wrong and get a bad sound and not really know it. I see in the video you have it set to 2, is that just the starting point or would you say this is about right for the turntable?
Great question...... check this out czcams.com/video/jmmsUHsOEk8/video.html and this czcams.com/video/LYAbWTt3Akg/video.html
What a great video I was thinking to get this turntable the only question that I have is about the needle do you think will be better using the ATN3600L? Or which one would you recommend
I have a Denon 300 F it doesn’t have the clip either and I really do not like that at all I think it should have the clip my tech Nicks had to clip but I’m glad to see that there is other options in addition to the Denon
I just received mine! Thank you for the info. My only question is there no power off switch?
i have one of those cartridges. they are better than some that cost $50
Weird question, but @11:21, is that a skip, or did you edit the video there? 'Cause if you edited the video there, that is the most amazing edit, matching the record rotation precisely. Sorry, OCD, but I just can't figure out what's going on at that moment.
LOL! Very good eye! I honestly don’t recall what happened there but I do know sometimes I cut out some video and magically the label rotation lines up. So it’s hard to say I think it might’ve been an edit.
I think only the cartridge is made by AT. The turntable is a Hanpin product, same as Pioneer, Sony, Denon, Marantz and many others...
Perhaps.....Hanpin makes most AT and Crosley units these days but they are indeed good.
Lovely table however if someone ever made a fully automatic, 3 speed, 3 size selector (12," 10," 7"), removable headshell, s-shaped tonearm, wood grain plinth turntable, I'd be in heaven.
pretty good review man! now, what do you think about making the review for the Denon DP 400?
I would like to do it! We shall see!
If you like this you’ve gotta check out the LP5 and the LP7!
Cool will do!
Very nice turntables
Awesome review . So detailed and hit all the points. I was wondering why there wasn't a lift button like there is on the 60x but right at the end of the video you mentioned that it has a lever instead.
I purchased the 60x a few weeks ago to connect to my sonos speakers but I haven't been impressed with the sound. It sounds dull and worst than playing digital music directly streamed. . I'm thinking of returning it for this upgraded model or another brand that has fully automatic. Any recommendations? .
This would be good because you can upgrade the cartridge if you want.
Wow. Your vinyl sounds so clean. Nice job on the LP3. Is the conical stylus an issue? Also I've heard that this model suffers from speed fluctuations? Maybe I should buy the LP-120 instead?
I have heard that from a couple of people - mine seems fine. I actually like the conical stylus so for me it works very well. Thank you for your comment!
@@Recordology You may have covered this before, but these "pre-aligned" cartridges - would you check alignment with a protractor? If so any suggestions on which one? Thanks for your reply by the way - great channel!
It's weird to me that people hold the LP120 in such high regard. I've owned two of them (a replacement after I assumed the first must have been defective) and have spent a lot of time with a third at a good friend's house, and they are among the worst sounding, most cheaply built turntables I've ever encountered. I actually think that the LP60 is a much better record player than the 120, and that this new unit is a *way* more sensible upgrade.
Curious about what albums you played during the demo? They sounded pretty good...
Great review. I'm tossing up weather to get this or the Lp60x and I think you've just made up my mind for me! I'm wondering what the best powered speakers would be to link this up with (on a budget of around £100)?
Good question - lets see what the community has to say.....
bought these with my first turntable, an lp60, 3 years ago. Even though I quickly moved on to better gear, I still got plenty of use out of them. A friend of mine came over who is a noise artist with the synths and pedals and stuff. He just fed the signal to these and it was surprising how much sound they can put out. a disgruntled ex roommate took them when he left. I just ordered a second pair for around 60$. Needed something better than the speakers in my bedroom tv

I went through 2 Audio Techinca LP120's both of them had issues right outa the box. I use the Pioneer PLX-500, which for some reason never gets talked about
Really - I have heard that the new lp120 and lp140 series are very solid.....I love my 120xusb so far.
Why are fully manually players more readily available than fully/semi automatic turntables??
HI I have an LP60 a good TT for the price but i do like this LP3!
To Record-ology Iwas wondering if you never reviewed the CosleyC-10 turntable I know you review a lot of the crosleys record players I was just curious to see what you thought of this turntable JRo
No yet but I would love to!
Ten-Q to Recordology for your VERY Quick response ,very much appreciated, would like to wish you and family VERY HAPPY & SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR !!!!!! JRo
Ten-Q for your quick response much appreciated, wishing you and yours a very Safe,Successful HAPPY NEW YEAR!! JRo
Este video é excelente, muito bom concebido, parabéns. abraço de Portugal
Muito obrigado! Agradeço seu comentário!
I had this same AT TT. Beware; after about 5 weeks the speed increased with no way to adjust it. I returned it.
The LP 7 has an internal motor speed sensor. Not sure is the 5/5x does as well or not
You can adjust it. Underneath the TT next to the front left leg are adjusters for both 33 and 45 rpm
I think I've made my mind up.
I’m thinking about maybe getting one exactly what is the build quality like?
Its a hollow plastic body but everything works really well.....its my daily driver.
@@Recordology thanks is the plastic nice quality though I assume it is sorry if I sound stupid I’m just thinking of getting into vinyl and don’t know much
Good question......I feel that the device is really well made.
I’m thinking of getting either this, AT-LP120X (people’s choice obviously) or a less popular option TEAC TN-400BT. What would you recommend me to choose, upgrade ability-wise and sound quality-wise? Thanks!
LP3 and LP120 are equals sound wise - just depends on whether or not you need 78rpm or auto....
Thanks. What about the other one???
hello, please could you tell me the dimension of box packet 01:36? thanks!!
Nice but what about after sale service and components repair and maintenance ect
liked the review. im planning to get one... how is your lp3 right now? any problems with it?
My black one had the built in preamp go out.
@@Recordology thanks for the quick and honest reply. anyway, is it still worth buying/owning this LP3 now? thinking of getting a LP3 or LP60XBT.
The cheap looking Chinese fixed output cable, looks a bummer. Also, can the stylus be upgraded without going to the hassle of changing the cartridge? Does the arm return to the rest position automatically at the end of the record, as with the LP60?
Hi. Great review. I bought one of these last week, but I am hearing distortion when playing vinyls. Could it be the cartridge that needs adjusting or perhaps the calibration?
Could the MC/MM switch be in the wrong position perhaps? Needs to be in MM position.
Does the tone arm have to balanced like on the LP120? Great videos btw! Thanks!
Yes it does! Thank you!
@@Recordology sorry to bug but I have one more question. I'm moving up from a Crosley Cruiser, which I've enjoyed lol, so which one would be a good turntable to move to, the LP3 or the 120?
Thanks again.
@@cpmarti83 it honestly depends on what you want out of the turntable. LP120s are great because they're fully manual, but unless you know what you're doing when setting it up and running it, it can be a hassle. The LP3 has the future proofing like an LP120 but it's easier to operate and less hassle to setup.
Great review! Thanks. I want to bu it but I have a question. I have a Denon 4300H amp which has a phono connection. The problem is that I have to put the player about 1.5-2 meters away from the receiver. Can I extend the cables that comes with it? Many Thanks!
Yes that should work fine...
What's the difference between this and the lp2x which I have?
Good review! Not bad for $200, but the MC option on the built-in preamp is hilarious. Who the hell would install a $1,000+ cartridge on this turntable? 😂
Is that what they cost ?!?
I have a question that maybe you can help me with. I've had this unit for a few months, and it still plays and sounds really nice, but yesterday I noticed a faint burning rubber or plastic smell. Any idea what that might be? I have the same platter mat as you, so it's not a rubber platter mat. And the smell is only noticeable if I bring my nose close to the platter. But IDK what it might be. Any ideas?
I would stop using it immediately and contact Audio Technica.
@Record-ology
Hi, would you explain what characteristics are this LP3 actually sounds like compared to the LP60xBT?
Cause I have this LP3 and it sounds muffled compared to the LP60xBT.. lack detailed and lack clarity.
My friends had the LP60xBT and it sounds even much detailed and clearer and brighter than Spotify (digital music streaming), but mine (the LP3) sounds worse than spotify..
Thanks a lot before!🙏
There must be a problem.....it should sound the same if not slightly better.
Would you recommend this over the Marley Stir It Up as a beginners turntable?
Very much yes....
What's the name of the song at 13.33 red lp?
Hey there, what’s the difference between the LP3 and the LP2X?
INTERESTING! I had not seen that.....my guess is an older variant on the lp3?
Have you tested the anti-skate? Does it actually work? I have an AT-LP120 USB that I purchased several years ago and the anti-skate doesn't work at all.
I know the new LP120's anti skate works fine......
To Jamie B ,hey there ,just wanted to say I to had the same problem w/my ATLP-120 I found that the cartridge overhang was way off on my turntable it should measure from tip of stylus to end of head shell exactly 59mm ;when I did this it seemed to fix my anti-skating problem ,don't know if this might fix your problem but I just wanted to help enjoy your turntable JRo
I read that this model tends to have speed issues can you address that?
Mine was a tad fast but easily adjustable via pots on the bottom.
Looks a lot like the Akai BT 80 i recently bought.
Hi. Do you know if the new LP3 Bluetooth have the same speed issue as the previous LP3 ?
I don’t know if the issue was just mine or not….unfortunately I have not yet seen the newer one.
@@RecordologyOk. Thank You.
When thew record ends, does the arm go back automatically to rest position or it just stops?
For what it is, it might be a tab bit expensive. You're mostly paying for the name. IMHO not with $200.00
Can I use this red atn91r stylus on my atLP60X? I'ts better than at3600L?
An excellent question - it LOOKS the same - but I doubt the performance would be noticeable.
can we actually use no speakers in this turntable, by any mean external speakers, is it okay?
Requires powered speakers / active speakers or a stereo system.
