    separate video with more pulls will be added soon
    In this video you are getting a look at the differences between an STI and WRX. Now, if you plan on getting these car, chances are you are going to modify them in some shape or form. Whether it's a front lip, performance mod, or an air freshener, it's most likely going to happen.
    Both cars are modded to the point where they cost about the same. Erg, at least similar in price.
    So hows does a stage 2 tuned e40 vs stage 1 sti? Well, we actually do race each other at the very end so skip to that if you that's what you are looking for.
    other than that, enjoy and i hope this helped a smidge on your choice.

    You don’t floor the STI at 2000rpms, you can possibly wear out the engine.. (causes of ringland failure)

    • @JohnNguyenVincent
      @JohnNguyenVincent  Před 5 lety +11

      The point that comes across are both cars have it's pros and cons. Many people believe the STI is better in every way. That's clearly no the case, especially in this 2015-2019 generation. Both being modified, the difference sway my opinion more.
      The WRX is cheaper upfront, cheaper to maintain, and cheaper every fill up.
      The STI is still Subaru best Halo car.

    • @ToxicityAssured
      @ToxicityAssured Před 5 lety +1

      @@JohnNguyenVincent Nothing can ever be better in every way. We agree that pros always go with cons. The STI is, to me, every bit as fast as any street car need be. The best mod anyone can ever do is learn to drive. A good drive can murder in an STI. The WRX could use a little help getting up to STI limits. So, from my point of view it's comparing the price of WRX+mods to just STI. At that point both cars are about equal in cost and performance. One has a warranty and no worries about acquired issues. Don't bs, modded cars ARE less reliable. I also don't do cosmetic mods so that may change the math some. As an owner of both, the gas difference is minimal. The difference between the STI and WRX is less than some 87 octane regular car and a WRX. Thanks for being a nice commenter!

    I was fortunate enough to have owned both, I had a 2017 WRX, 365 whp on an E55 tune from Ron @ Phatbotti and currently a 2020 STI. Right now just intake, catback on the STI, with E85 planned at the end of the month. I'd absolutely rather daily the WRX and keep the STI for a weekend toy. It's more fuel efficient, the power band is in the lower RPM and the suspension is more comfortable. I didn't care for the shifter though, even with the STI short shift kit, but after adding the Perrin shift stop, it was much better. Plus its so easy to just add flex fuel, fuel pump and boom, tons of power. The STI needs more supporting modifications to do this. I do love the STI though, it has a more "raw" feel to it, and it likes to be driven hard. Can't really go wrong with either, just depends what the purpose is and your budget.

    I personally have a Wrx and I had the choice to purchase a new Wrx or a new STI. The reason I personally went with the wrx is because of the motor. I have too many friends that have had issues with the EJ and buddies putting down 380 - 400 hp to the wheels on the Wrx with full bolt one and e85. They so far haven’t had any issues but they replaced the head gasket to a stronger one just in case. I personally love both and still want a STI in the future, I just couldn’t compensate 10k more for the older motor over the Wrx which is still fun cars. Mad love and respect to both cars, they’re bad ass and I will never get the UEL sound which sucks but both cars are great. :)

      from just driving the two side by side on public roads.
      The main differences that are VERY apparent. (MODDED)
      -Power (wrx is better everywhere in the powerband, faster, and more efficient)
      -Transmission (Sti has better engagement, feels more similar a bolt action rifle in terms of engagement vs muted in the wrx).
      -Sound (rumble, distinct, loud vs more refine)
      Other stuff like super cool diff, limited slip, bigger brakes, and whatever gizmo, aren't really felt driving it pretty moderately on the street.
      Now would i personally get a STi? For the money probably not. The ej25 is exactly what i thought it would be ancient. Sounds cool but for the power and mpg... Because it's ancient there are a lot of things people know about the engine and you can build it. $$
      Stock for stock, sti is better. Modded for modded. The wrx is much better solely because of the engine. It's a huge part of the experience. AJ likes his car better. So yeah.
      Now if the STi has all of the cool bits + a new engine. Now that's what i'm talking about.

      ricardopr54 lol. His wrx with that mod out performed the sti. He didn’t try to make it perform like the sti, because it just couldn’t. FA20’s and Ej’s are waaaay to different to perform alike. Come on man. Get your facts straight. Two different engines yet will perform alike?? It’s like putting a monkey in a pool and add some scuba gear for it to perform and swim like a fish.

    The STI is for someone that tracks their car. Hydraulic steering, beefier trans, stiffer suspension, and the diff controller. I have had an 06 hawkeye wrx and 06 sti. I later purchased an 2016 wrx. The FA motor is way more efficient than the ej's but the stock throttle mapping sucks. The fuel economy is so much better in the FA motors but it should come with both direct and port injection. Out of all three I wish I would have kept the hawkeye sti. They have really held there value well and it was a blast to drive.

    I missed the part about you making the WRX better than a STi with money saved. Your WRX is mostly looks and a tune. My wife drives a 2018 WRX and I have a 2017 STi. Both are awesome cars and perform great. There is such a difference between them. It's more than just power. The STi drivetrain is SO different. The locking center, front and rear make the car feel very different. Low speed turning, backing up turning, powering out of turns and uneven ground all feel very different between the cars. Compare the brakes between cars and look at the cost to add Brembos to a WRX. Compare the suspension and look at costs to modify. Compare a bevel gear viscous diff versus a planetary locking diff and look the the big cost to upgrade.
    You're young, ignorant and have wealthy parents. Remember to separate your opinions on things from facts of reality. The STi driver was humble, you are bothersome. The WRX is the best daily driver but kids want to pretend they are a purpose built performance car. STi will always be daddy and the WRX the child. It's just sometimes the WRX is the more chill option needed. (My 5 year old daughter likes the STi more.)
