    Deanna Tikhonov WHNP-BC talks about how to use the Natural Family Method effectively to PREVENT or INCREASE your chance of pregnancy by figuring out when you are most fertile.
    In order to use this method, it is best that you have monthly periods, otherwise this can be challenging to determine when ovulation is occurring. This method is MOST EFFECTIVE when you are #1 tracking your cycles for 3-6 months, #2 checking your body temperature every day, & #3 checking for cervical mucus changes over at least 3 months.
    With dedication on your part this can be a great way to learn more about your body and prevent pregnancy that is FREE, without any side effects and accessible to everyone!

    This was such an informative video! I loved your calming energy and aura first of all, and the general overview of this method was great. It would be great if we can get a follow-up video on how to use the FAM in more detail!

    I love this method personally. I actually had birth control take away my periods for 6 years after stopping it(due to several issues) and started drinking fertility tea to regulate my hormones because in my head it wouldnt hurt anything and was affordable. After 3 months of drinking it I got consistent 28 day cycles and started this method. Idk scientifically if fertility tea is proven to work but my hormones did regulate after drinking it so in the least it didnt hurt. My favorite part of it is picking and choosing when you want to have a baby or avoid it without any hormonal birth control interfering with that process. I think its actually easy once you figure out your own body but it does require you to pay attention every day. My younger sister wanted to try it but she is not at all consistent about anything and very scatter brained and it's not for those types of people so she got an IUD but if your a very disciplined organized person it will work out pretty great and you can use condoms etc with it until you get it down to an exact science and in your fertile window if you choose to do so. It's great wether your trying to get pregnant or avoid it because you learn so much about your body and it can give you a sense of control of your body if you like that kind of thing.

    I’m new to all of this, trying to learn more. If my cycle varies between 28-32 days, is there any risk of pregnancy if I were to have unprotected sex on day 5 of my cycle?

    Great video! I am not trying to get pregnant but looking to prepare for the future and learn about fertility / ovulation well ahead of time as I am 27. I have an app that tracks my cycles and predicts ovulation. The predicted ovulation day seems to be a little off, I get creamy sticky discharge THEN egg white discharge (shouldn't it be the other way around?). Can you get stretchy egg white discharged after ovulation? Or is my track predictor just wrong. My cycle is tracked at 28 days on the app.

      Hi Sandra, most apps give a very general idea of when ovulation could be occurring based on a 28 day cycle. This is why tracking your cervical mucus and temperature can be helpful for a more accurate time. It's important to track your symptoms versus just rely on the app. I offer birth control education sessions on zoom, feel free to book and discuss further :) You can find the link via my instagram @_theladysguide

    How do you start NFP if you just had a baby?

  • @hafsamumtaz1
    @hafsamumtaz1 Před 3 lety +2

    My cycle is usually 28-33 days as it can vary. If I had unprotected on day 8 right after my period ended should I still take plan b? I would think ovulation wouldn't occur till day 14 but I guess could it technically occur early as my periods do vary?

    • @TheLadysGuide
      @TheLadysGuide  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Hafsa, the way to be more certain when ovulation occurs is to take your basal body temperature daily for a few months and log this information. Pregnancy is less likely right after your period but depending on if your cycle varies this can change. If you do not want pregnancy right now taking Plan B is reasonable to take.

    Also for the natural family planning method when would you recommend using condoms? Would it be 5 days before and 1 day after ovulation?

    • @TheLadysGuide
      @TheLadysGuide  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Hafsa, I recommend a week, 5 days before and 2 days after. But in order to determine ovulation, checking your basal body temperature will help give a a better idea of when this is happening.
