For all the people talking about the poor baby’s head….😞 I was born with a flat head in 1983 and I hate it. Mine wasn’t caused by laying on my back and helmets weren’t a thing back then. I wish people wouldn’t judge the baby cause at age 40 I still have it!!! Flat head syndrome, also known as positional plagiocephaly or deformational plagiocephaly, is caused by pressure on a baby's soft skull bones from sleeping in the same position for long periods of time. This can happen when babies spend a lot of time on their backs, such as while sleeping, in car seats, carriers, strollers, swings, and bouncy seats. Babies often turn their heads to one side when placed on their backs because of their weak neck muscles. Other factors that may increase the risk of flat head syndrome include: Womb position, such as being part of a multiple birth, developing in a small uterus, or experiencing low amniotic fluid Muscular torticollis Being the first-born child Being a boy Being born with the help of forceps or vacuum extraction While most flat heads can be prevented, they are not always completely preventable. Some ways to help prevent flat head syndrome include: Changing your baby's position in the crib each day Putting a mobile on the side of the crib facing the room Supervised tummy time for 10 to 15 minutes, and at least 3 times a day A physical therapist can help determine the cause of the head flattening and the best treatment. Early physical therapy can also help to reduce the risk for related developmental problems.

She lays on her back all the time. She needs to get her to the doctor so they can fit her for a helmet. Liv ignores that baby and lays her on her back all day.

Also repeatedly laying a baby on their back can cause it or make it worse but it usually starts from birth on most babies that have it which is why they make helmets specifically fit and molded for their heads. Some parents don’t see it as an issue. My head is flat in the back and I absolutely hate it and I was born in 83 rarely put on my back but helmets weren’t a thing back then.
