    Great video. I have the clip already but will be getting the rest when I get my X-T5 with the new 16-50 kit lens next month. Just one point. The grip you mention is just a grip, not an L bracket. I think Small rig does make a grip that is an L bracket as well. Thank for your video

    • @DanielBryn
      @DanielBryn  Před 15 dny

      Hey Robert, youre right - its just a grip and they do have the L-bracket also. The grip though... A necessity imo. Thanks for watching!

    The PD camera clip is a godsend - I purchased one for when I went to Peru last year and it made carrying a camera so much more convenient - and you 100% end up taking more shots because of it

    I use an Op-Tech mini. wrist strap as suggested by Omar Gonzalez over on his channel and I love it! I also have an Op-Tech neck strap in my bag at all times in case I want to use it instead. I just leave both male attaching ends on my Xt5
    I also have the Smallrig extended grip and mine kept loosening . I solved the problem by inserting a sliver of paper into the screw hole and then screwing the Smallrig in. It hasn't come loose since.

    @Bill.Pearson Před rokem +4

    To fix the problem with the L-bracket coming unscrewed...Add a thin sheet of textured rubber between the body camera and bracket. I know that there is some there already, but not enough. You need to make it so that as the screw tightens, it compresses the rubber. The rubber then presses against the L-bracket base and puts pressure on the screw threads, keeping them tight by friction. If it's just metal against metal, once the screw loosens even a tiny bit, it's free to keep spinning off.

    I agree with your choice of accessories. Just received the Small Rig grip for my new XT5. Perfect fit and really provides a nice handling. Clever Supply also makes some nice leather neck and wrist straps with the PD attachment. I have these same two Sigma lenses and I really like them a lot. I also have the new 10-18 on order. I love the close focus abilities of the 18-50.

      Grip is awesome, hey? And that 10-18 looks really awesome. How do they do it over at Sigma? I think it will replace my native fuji 10-24 f4.0 (maybe even the viltrox 13mm f1.4 as vlog lens?!)

    Great suggestion on the small rig plate. I had a cage on my old camera but ended up using it more for protection than anything else. I use a camkix wrist strap, nothing all too special. I’ve also handmade a few paracord wrist straps. They work nicely as well!

    • @DanielBryn
      @DanielBryn  Před rokem +1

      Ive looked at paracord straps, did you actually make them? Thats nice man! Cages are nice, but I found them annoying simply because they obstruct free access to dials and buttons. At least on my cameras. The L-brackets are so much better in my opinion. Got a similar one on the X-H2S (better actually since it has an integrated allen key, and later found out theyve got the same one to fit an xt5. Bummer for me lol).

      @@DanielBryn sure did! Watched a couple tutorials and then went with trial and error, had a few of the paracord straps work out really well! Let me know if you want some and I’ll figure out how to get them to you haha. L brackets seem like the way to go, I agree with the cages feeling like they are in the way. Small rig doesn’t make an L bracket for the a6400.. my search continues!

      @@carlgoetzinger6876 Hmmm, shame on smallrig! Id definitely try out a home made paracord for sure! Allrighty, now back to product photography for the rest of the night. Have a good one, and if you do have a spare cord, dm me on IG hehe

    I like the PD wrist strap with the anker attached to the base plate in the middle. It feels if I have more freedom. Just try if you like it too.

    • @DanielBryn
      @DanielBryn  Před rokem +1

      Ive tried, and for me ive landed on the bottom corner attached to the smallrig cage. Just a matter of personal preference I guess. Cheers for watching by the way Rocodil!

    Hei Daniel, I use a PD wrist strap on my Lumix GX9 and also an L Bracket Grip from JJC. I have metal screw on Hoods fitted to each of my pancake/small lenses as they help with flare and protect the front lens element which means I don’t bother with lens caps but I do have lens bags and a small Tamrac shoulder bag for my street gear.
    So I can safely swap lenses, in the street, and it takes about 10 seconds.

    • @DanielBryn
      @DanielBryn  Před rokem

      I like the straps from PD, easy with the clip on anchor they have. I cant be bothered w lens caps either. They are never on tbh. That metal hood is really great! You are one of the lucky ones that doesnt get bothered by shoulder bags, I am a bit jealous tbh... On that note, I do my best to stick with one lens only on street sessions. Today was 33mm day, and great for shadows up here in Oslo. Thanks for watching Colin, ´preciate it mate

    Thanks! Good ideas. Small point. I don’t think the Small rig is an L bracket, which allows a camera to be attached to a tripod in landscape and portrait mode just by flipping it. I think the Smallrig you showed is a bottom plate with handgrip. Thanks again.

    • @DanielBryn
      @DanielBryn  Před rokem

      Cheers for the correction Geoff - It is correct. I may have said that because I have an L bracket/baseplate version on my other camera, which is actually better. This version you can detach the L-bracket itself if needed which is pretty neat. Thanks for watching!

  • @ronmasters751

    I had the same problem with the L-bracket. Using a leather half-case instead, almost as useful, much cooler.

      Leather half-cases don't help with grip though. In fact they make the grip worse, going from pebbled rubber to smooth leather. Also adds more bulk.
