IDK if your offer price is due to being a friend but it’s pretty cool how fair you were and clearly giving anyone watching this a great lesson on many variables that why a vendor would just speed through and throw out like I said $250. People have to understand that what someone is asking for something vs what someone is getting for something is very different in the selling world.

@@Spegtacular A neighbor wants to sell his silver and tells me, silver is selling for over $30.00 an ounce. I say, right now, silver is worth $22.50. Just because he sees a in a book or advertisement $30.00, right away he thinks his silver is worth that much. I say $22.50 is the price of silver right now. It cost money to melt and separate the silver so if he tries to sell it for $30.00 he will get something below $22.50.

@@harrysurtees8710 you're talkin retail and wholesale/spot price. Those are two different things. 3 to $5 over spot price is fair retail price for bullion/generic. Depending on what it is it could be more.

Thanks for reminding me of how worthless my coin collection is. As an investment that is. Still it was fun to collect. I would rather give mine away to kids somewhere. Silver value is intrinsic, but who has the time to figure out the silver value? Scarcity condition, and variety are probably more important than silver or metal values. Silver just crashed this week, so I wont be taking my silver coins up to the coin dealer who pays 50% of the melt value. Thanks for the video. Nice explanation of what dealers really do pay. There's always the CoinStar machine! Be sure to check the reject bin for foreign coins and sometimes dollars and halfs. I found 3 silver halfs in one the other day: 2 1964 Kennedy, and one 1962 Franklin. I kid you not. The two kids behind me in line wanted to see them. I gave them each one.

Cool little collection, too bad you didn’t find anything super valuable, but I think the owner should be please with the silver value alone…

honestly, old wheat pennies even if they aren't one of the super rare ones or whatever, they are worth at least 2c because of the copper. And even more than that a lot of the old wheat pennies from 1909-1940 are worth 15-25c just bc they are old (assuming they are in decent condition). So, imo most of the wheat pennies (in decent condition) are actually worth a lot considering they are 1c face value.
