Being a western rider i loved hearing her explanation of how a western saddle feels lol great video!
Glad you're doing her stretches 😍
Yeah she’s so rubbish at them haha I’m excited to see how she improves ☺️
This is really useful my pony has a stiff neck so your stretches will definitely help thank you x
Definitely adding those stretches to my routine!!
Um hello. Thank you for the free stretches. I needed them in my life 🙋🏼🙋🏼🙋🏼
They’re actually so good! They’ve really helped Khal and I’m excited to see the improvement in Welbeck the more I do them! ☺️
WOW! You can tell you really know what you are doing with Welbeck and your stretching! I'm so happy that you made this video! Thank you for always putting so much time into your videos! They are always really well done! :)
Thank you so much!
Omg Welbeck!!!!! she looks like she wintered well, thank you for such an awesome video as always !x
Thank you! Yes she did, she’s so hard to keep weight on but I’m really happy with the condition she’s in now ☺️
You are such an inspiration to me. Your riding and eq are like GOALS😍😍
Yay!!! Welbeck videos! this was entertaining😍
Love this video!! Will definitely try out these stretches❤️🐴
These stretches are so helpful !!
I'm going to try them stretches thanks so much and love the video as always ❤️
Excited to watch
The stretching was very interesting!! 😍
Love this video
Cool video I’m starting doing stretches with my pony and this is very helpful.
I love theses tacking up and talking videos so much I just find them really interesting and it would be great if you could do more. 👍😄❤️
I will indeed! I really like them too haha
Congrats on 20 k!!!
Love this 😍
Loved this video❤ Welbeck will be flexible after this !!😁lysm Holly
She sure will! ☺️
Very early today! This is fab 💕 it’ll be amazing to see how much more flexible welbeck will get after these!!
Yeah I’m excited to see her progress!
Great vid
I'm glad she's back! And also super excited to see competition and jumping videos with her
Yup! I definitely plan to get her into work and competing ☺️
Glad to know I'm not the only one with a stiff mare. Started doing these - and at the start she could barely reach past her shoulder on the side of side 😂😂and still not a fan of stretching the hind 😂
It’s great to see them improve! And knowing that flexibility will make them much better undersaddle really helps motivate me to keep doing them ☺️
I love my millbrook leathers! They have helped me solidify my leg like a hot damn
Nice saddle pad
Love you
I do have a dumb question when riding is there a way you have or could do a video of what to look for in horses working their back while lunging? If not it’s fine figured I would ask lol
There’s not really enough to make a whole video on, but I can give you a few pointers here! First make sure the horse is tracking up (there’s probably videos online if you’re not sure what that looks like) also you want to horse’s head and neck nice a low but their head should not be behind the vertical, their nose can even be poking out a little bit :) and make sure you’re keeping the horse going forward with plenty of energy so they’re engaging their hind end 👍🏼
💖💖
My horse gets mad sometimes when i brush his stomach bc hes just ticklish. also make sure youre tightening the girth slowly over time sometimes that causes it :)
Woah I’m so early
she is so fLUFFY!!!
are you thinking of clipping her when it gets a bit warmer ?
She is super fluffy! And I probably won’t because she’s already starting to shed and by the time she’s in full work, she’ll probably have her summer coat ☺️
do i use polo wraps on my horse when doing flat work and lunging
Could I ask what are the spots on her back couldn’t be rainrot or something and does it hurt her ?x
Yup it’s a bit of rain scald that she got a while ago but it’s healed now. It doesn’t hurt her, we’re just waiting for the hair to grow back ☺️
Question: Will Welbeck get better in time with the stretching. Like will she get more flexible? Just wondering because when I do carrot stretches, my horse can only go about half way down his belly too.....odd
Oh she definitely will! It’s like a person learning to do the splits, you keep stretching and practicing and you get more and more flexible 👍🏼
Do the stretches not hurt your back? because mine always hurts especially when stretching the back legs 😬😬
If your back is hurting just means your putting too much pressure there - if remember to keep your feet shoulder wide apart, legs bent and your back flat it shouldn't hurt - Holly's position in this video is pretty good
Maybe something to try :)
Remember to bend your knees and rest their leg on your knees so your legs take the weight and not your back ☺️
Do you recommend doing these before or after riding? Or both?
Oh shoot you just answered in the video xD thanks
I bought I mentioned it in the video, but always after! Stretches should only be done on warm muscles ☺️
Holly is this your own farm or a boarding because it looks like your own
It’s our own :)
What did the horses think of the snow
They weren’t too keen haha
Very wise move to wear a helmet with new stretches!
First
do you stretch out everyday?:)
Yup! ☺️
do u still own her? and if so why don't u ride her a lot?
Kiley M she is in college away from home and doesn’t have much time when she is home
College and horses being competed highly typical get a complete break from riding for 1month+ over the winter since the SJI leagues are stopped till around March/April time
Everyone doing upper level should stretch their horses every day, optimally, both before and after exercising, and once on rest days. It's good to see someone actually stretching correctly.
The only issue I had was the coat of the horse, his coat is quite dull for a horse that's doing this advanced of work - he either needs better grooming or better feed!
Stretching is always needed, but i’m quite concerned with how wasted your horse’s muscles are, it looks as if either you just started riding her again after a few months off, or you’re not doing the correct amount of flatwork and dressage work with her, which should be 5 to six days a week and only jumping once a week. Her coat is also concerning, with the correct exercise and diet, your horse should be shiny and silky and consistent in coat even in the winter months.
