- In this video we enjoy a vistit to the delightful Llanberis Lake Railway in the middle of Snowdonia in North Wales and travel along the beautiful 2 1/2 mile long Llyn Padarn hauled by 1922 built Hunslet 'Dolbadarn' and we also see 1889 bult Hunslet, 'Elidir' on another service.
So nice .Love this
Thank you, one of many narrow gauge railways in North Wales.
Superb scenes Bob with some excellent on board footage and close up view of the locos. Regards, Jeff.
Thanks Jeff, another Great Little trains of Wales, passing through some stunning scenery...Regards....Bob
Have just watched both of your North Wales videos and even with the rain in the first one, you have still managed some very good shots. The Llanberis Railway shows a delightful trip on the line and some great clips of Dolbadarn. in much better weather. Always enjoy the steam.....Regards, Mike.
We've been very lucky with the weather this week Mike, and with so little Steam to capture back home, I wanted to make the most of steam in North Wales, in all it's shapes and sizes....Regards...Bob
Great onboard footage Bob. Stunning scenery. Cheers, Dave.
The scenery is so beautiful Dave, it's the only way to see it, behind a steam loco....I've enjoyed all of them with each one so different to the next....What a week it's been.....Regards...Bob
Some really stunning scenery! I could almost smell the loco and countryside in this one!
North Wales is full of these Great Little Trains of Wales, and everyone is different to the next....Fantastic scenery, a warm welcome from staff, and plenty of steam...what more can you ask for!...Bob
One of the lines I've missed out on Bob so good to see what it's about. I think these diminutive slate quarry Hunslets are incredible little beasts but I guess a few carriages are nothing compared to heavy tubs of slate. Take care - Chris
They are deceavingly powerful for their size Chris, this line is quite flat, but the scenery is worth the ride. I'd been over to the Snowdon Mountain Railway across the road from this one, and it would have cost over £110 pounds for the three of us to travel....So I gave that one a miss again!...Regards...Bob
Great video..loved the trip....You were lucky with the return as the Weather seemed to brighten up.....Amazing how much Rail fun You can have on Holiday in North Wales...!! Best wishes....Steve.-:)
I know that much of it is narrow gauge Steve, but each Railway is different and full of character, and with so much available....you're spoilt for choice....We've had a fantastic time, as you can imagine...All the best...Bob
Very nice Bob, lovely views from the train. didn't have time to visit the line on our recent trip to Snowdon but hope to return soon
Someone's been looking down on us this week Austin, the weather has been great showing off the stunning scenery around North Wales, something as you well know, can be very much hit and miss. I haven't seen so much steam in a long time...Bob
Brilliant video Bob. Nice journey with some fantastic scenery and the sun was.shining . Great week of filming. Best wishes C&A
Thanks both, we've had quite a magical week chasing the steam, and managing to get so much without any planning....Someone's looking after me..Ha..ha...Regards...Bob
Lovely and interesting video Bob. I'd never seen anything of this line and it must be great for you to still be able to hear the sounds and smells of steam on this erstwhile main line. It seems like a well kept line with beautifully maintained locos and stock, and quite craggy in places. These blessed level crossing gates, although necessary, are quite piercing and loud, but not loud enough for some it seems - lol! I didn't you all these wonderful narrow gauge lines and hopefully I can persuade Marjie to spend a week or so travelling on them - we'll see! Once again I feel like I've travelled a line after watching one of your vids Bob. No need to ask if you enjoyed your holiday - the results speak for themselves! Best wishes as always. Ken
I was hoping to see some trains Ken, but was amazed as to how many I was able to fit in....a truly memorable holiday....Best wishes...Bob
Another great little gem on your holiday amidst the usual stunning scenery Bob. I wish I could capture such a variety of 'unplanned' steam during an holiday....... Obviously must try harder!! Regards, Brian.
You're too kind Brian, I'm so lucky that Mrs M and our Grandson are so tollerant of my Railway interest, and this certainly helped. I never plan my days out, and fly by the seat of my pants, and it tends to work most of the time.....So come on get yourself down there and have a great time...Regards...Bob
Well, you could have fooled most of us I'm sure Bob, your 'itinerary' & timing/locations appears to have been arranged with some military precision lol. Hope Mrs M & Grandson enjoyed the holiday as much as you obviously did & no doubt I shall be subjecting my Mrs M to another trip that way..... Cheers, Brian.
Anyone that knows me will confirm that I rarely plan anything in advance Brian, I tend to react to what presents itself, much to Mrs M's frustration! I had the times for the two main Line runs, but the other visits were just taken as they came, and thank goodness, it all worked out in the end.....Thanks again...Bob
Another great little train that we have all been on. Thanks Bob
Man I wish I were to be a lie to ride on that awesome lookin locomotive. Looks so cool!
Lots' to do and see...a wonderful way to spend a few hours....Bob
Went on it today, had a chat with the driver as well. I couldn't do his job for longer than one lifetime.
Me neither, what a wonderful way to spend your time.
Lovely video, thank you, Robert!
My pleasure Elena, I'm delighted that you have enjoyed it.
@@robmasterman very useful too, Iam planning my next summer trip! All the best!
@@elenazenzolo6689 There are plenty of Narrow Gauge Railways to see in North Wales, Hope you have a wonderful time during your visit ....Bob
@@robmasterman thank you!!!
super
Thanks.
Just watching this video, silly pair. The warning is loud enough. We have been on this a few times, hopefully if the lockdown is over by August will take our grandson, he is 2, his sister has been on it she is now 6, start small work up to Welsh Highland Railway. Thanks Bob,
Thanks very much Diane, it was a little concerning, as they didn't have a clue as to what they should do. The Great little trains of Wales are all very different, and well worth a visit when you can.....Bob
Thats a bit like the Loco they have not in the Park at Scarborough gain a great little railway ..take it this was an intentional railway holiday ?? LOl..Dave
It is a bit Dave, these Hunslet locos built for the slate mines in North Wales, are full of character, and powerful for their size Dave. This holiday was booked before the main Line runs were announced, and I wasn't expecting to visit so many Railways, but I have a wonderfully understanding wife...Bob
Very understanding Bob ....i get the same ..sometimes LOL ..Dave
Me too and it certainly helps........ Especially if 'trained' to carry equipment & buy the coffees haha!!
