Somebody get this woman a Netflix show 😭
Omg imagine a Netflix show dedicated to dressing better !!
😂❤
Imagine the Netflix show with HER encouragement, aesthetic, and her singing the upbeat intro!
Yes please
We love her. I have had all of my staff watch her videos so they have more knowledge and insight into their personal beauty. Presentation is a key feature in the professional world especially for women. We all absolutely love her. ❤
I totally agree. I admire women that celebrate their uniqueness rather than wanting to look like everyone else!
❤
Seriously… I get everyone wants to be beautiful and look like their favorite celebrity, but being yourself is way more beautiful on you than someone else’s look.
@@HappilyAnonymousGirl Exactly
You have such a gift of how to focus on the positive and how to improve, yet never criticize the way that is no longer.
❤
She seems almost too careful not to say the wrong thing risk losing subs bc the back lash is real ppl handle truth in micro doses
How incredibly impressive that your primary objective in having your channel is to provide information and train women to see their own beauty. What a amazing commitment and unique perspective you have. Simply brilliant. Thank you for who you are, Aly Art!
I really adore how you use so many examples of more senior women, who look absolutely drop-dead gorgeous with these looks. Yes, yes, yes!
You make the best videos. Over the years I’ve really enjoyed watching them. I cannot express to you how encouraging and empowering it is to hear that each person should respect their natural beauty and enhance it. You made a statement once that has stayed with me-“don’t DISRESPECT your hooded eyes!” I always HATED them, but I realize now they harmonize with my whole look. I also stopped coloring my hair. (I look at pictures from years ago and 🤷♀️WHAT WAS I THINKING?) I really appreciate your work, from your music to your styling/fashion sense. It’s freeing to be who I truly am. I thank you for everything! 🩷
so true! she is a beauty infuencer that really empowers women 🙌
You did a great job And I get it and especially being 74 I have to pay attention.I have a At least one piece from each of those periods that I still use well minus the 80s. I hated the 80s. Being petite most of those styles just didn't work on me.
Thank you so much! It was important for me to read )))
@@AlyArt Seriously. Your study, time and expertise is impressive and valuable-I speak for many of us when I say your approach significantly improves other women’s lives-of all ages. You’re so busy with your music, you HAVE to be running 100 mph ALL the time! Make time for yourself, too! Know that you’re loved and admired by so many on this side of the screen! ♥️🌹
I think when it comes to dressing vintage, particularly with 40s and 50s, it looks like a costume if you're copying what the models were wearing in photoshoots (i.e. wearing heavy makeup and styling with lots of accessories such as a hat, gloves, necklaces, bracelets, glasses, etc). But if you look at photos of average people from the time they don't usually have all of those elements at once and they tend to wear more natural makeup, so I find copying them tends to look more natural (e.g. Karolina Zebrowska's style)
Right in one. I love Karolina's channel and always look forward to seeing how she puts things together!
So true. I don't like outfits that look like a costume. That doesn't only apply to "retro" looks. But even trending looks like Kim K (long sleek hair, perfect thick makeup, tight clothes) makes everyone look the same and it looks cartoonish. I also love Karolina's channel! Mainly for her insights about fashion norms in different eras. Would love to see a collaboration video with her and Ally. ❤
I think it’s also taking inspiration more from pin up images or even more general artwork of the era, rather than real clothes. Gets so tacky.
Yes I agree - it was way calmer in real life
Sunday Best? Yeah, for BEST.
You look so bomb with this hair!
I was thinking the same thing! It suits her so much
Yes!
Aly's observation of make-up trends in recognizing with such in-depth observation is like science to me. Like when she mentioned having such a strong light on your face while filming can give you that round moon face effect on camera. That to me explained years of women putting on dark heavy amounts of bronzer and contour while filming only to have an end result of looking like a 5th-grade stage makeup tutorial
I love how you trolled most trends in such an elegant way, I was in splits at most parts haha. Great video as always
She's too funny
"A *certain* kind of attention..."
😭
Love it
@@cloudy7235a very delicate and diplomatic way of saying it indeed
I really appreciate the shift towards bespoke, “natural face shaped” beauty tips. I think the more we move away from fast trends that only suit a certain looking person, the more the beauty industry can increase in quality and the more beautiful women will feel in their own skin. 💜
I wish growing girls were taught that hot doesn't mean beautiful, in fact often just the opposite of beautiful!!
I just watched your videos for the first time. You are a real treasure. It is rare to find such a gifted person provide helpful tips for everyone to use immediately based on their own unique traits. Thank you.
Aly, could you show us best hair styles/tips for women over 60? How to look more current
Thank you so much for posting the Native American woman from Mexico 🇲🇽 at the beginning! Unfortunately, she faced so much racism/colorism in her own country 😢
Hi stumbling upon you channel today was so enlightening‼️I’m turning 77 in a couple of weeks. I have always followed fashion, makeup, & hair. Since age 16. You are very spot on & I loved your content. Love that you include us older gals. Keep up the great work. Your beautiful.❣️
I love how you Aly encourage women to celebrate their individual beauty, not trying to push trends or sell a certain look that everyone should aim for. Personally I wouldn't want to look like eveybody else following the same trends. It's so sad nowadays with plastic surgery becoming so popular most of the girls following these beauty ideals are starting to look more and more like the same person. I love channels like yours saying we don't have to play by the same rules of beauty influencers/industry who most of the time wants us to feel insecure in order to keep selling us stuff. Thank you and keep doing what you're doing ❤
Love your videos! My mama has had the same makeup routine since she was 13 haha. She would dress like Madonna in the 80's and she has continued with it till now. I once begged her to let me try more modern style of makeup on her and WOW she looked unbelievably gorgeous. Even my dad couldn't stop staring at her. But she loves her 80s style of makeup 😂♥
I get your mom. I used to wear very blunt mini bangs that everyone around me hated. I didn't care. Wore it with pride ahah
Excellent video!!!! Can’t wait for the video on women over 60 as I’m a 72 yr old gamine.
I love you so much Aly! The ladies in the comments are also so intelligent and respectful. I think your community is full of amazing people ❤️
I agree ❤ thank you ))
Aly you look so much fresher in soft gamine lines rather than flamboyant gamine ones!
She's a romantic. 🙂
Experimenting is how I figured out my Kibbe. It took me a while, but I felt (and saw) it when the harmony finally happened.
How about "sneakers for the body types?" . You re the best!
Yes and the best way to style, so practical
Your channel is so authentic, and you clearly put a lot of thought into your content. Thank you for all of your hard work!
Aly, you look absolutely lovely with this waved flowing blonde do, with soft compllimentary makeup. The whole look is like old Hollywood elegance with a touch of modern glam. You shine!
You are my favorite go-to on all things ‘stylish’ which is mot the same as fashionable.
Aly, I so love these videos of yours. I turned 40 recently and THIS is the type of beauty, sophistication and style I admire at this season of life. Thank you for examining and explaining the history of styles and trends, and for your research and thoughts. You are a wonderful space on the internet ❤
Your perspective on beauty is so unique and uplifting, thank you for sharing with us! You look beautiful today & I would love an updated hair & makeup video on how you do your own right now. Xo
Thank you! I will ))
I love your hair!
I think sometimes we don't always know how we look whether good or not so good unless someone tells us. Thanks for a great video.
She has extensions in. I loved the chic bob - IYKYK - but the longer hair is pretty and everyone enjoys a change now and again.
I adore the diversity of your art and style 😊
I love how you help women around the world to look better. Also, you explain things from what came before, and sometimes from their basis in technology - film, lamps, etc. I learn a lot from you. Great stuff!
I have natural straight fine hair, when cut in a bob it the ends flip in a bit , and I hated it so much because it looked too "prim and proper". And nowadays, it seems that it's finally in fashion! I have a rich girl hair without much maintenance and I didn't notice.
I agree with Aly, if we know how to NAME the different elements, we can make them work for us and not against us. We know how they combine, what do they offer and what not. I find this useful also in other aspects of life. For example after I found how to name certain psychological traits, I knew it how to "map" myself better and work with it. It's not labelling. It's "maping".
Aly! You are so knowledgeable and compassionate and show great empathy. Thank you.
My husband saw a photo of Melissa Gilbert yesterday and said, look at her aging like a normal person and is gorgeous. Beautiful young girls are going to age so strangely and sad for them, as the trend will be so different soon and they have permanently altered their bodies and faces.
I saw her in person last weekend at the Little House on the Prairie 50th anniversary in Simi Valley. Your husband is right. She is aging beautifully. You can see she's not a 35 year old. Yet when she smiles you still see Laura Ingalls in her and she has such a youthfullness about her.
This channel deserves so many more subscriptions! Seriously knowledgeable and highly informative 👏🏽 thank you Aly ❤
the Gothic look is not for everyone, I do love it most of all (as long as you do not copy the panda look). I do not wear make up often (only when I have something special) and will always wear the dark red lips and dramatic eyeliner (it can almost go over the top). But then as a real Goth it is what I am going for, it does not suit all and you need to dare wearing it indeed!
Amazing video, Aly. I'm very much looking forward to your mature ladies video(s). I will be 61 this year. I want to look nice and polished but not trying hard to be someone I'm not. I love all of your videos. They're very helpful and informative.
I have a different definition of "dowdy". To me it means "frumpy", a sloppy look, oversized wrinkled cloths (maybe in ill repair, tattered). Pieces that do not go well together, often drab colors, or faded. Many of the looks mentioned appeared dated, or out of style, tacky but IMO not dowdy (per se). This may be a language interpretation issue.
According to me , what you said was the first phase of dowdy . Once you learn about kibbe , color seasons and essence ; you can still struggle between trends , developing a personal style , finding the right makeup , hair etc . And I think one can also look dowdy , following the wrong style for themselves. This video explains that very well .
Dowdy is synonymous with frumpy, old-fashioned, sloppy, dull, shabby, unfashionable ❤
She used it correctly in fashion. It means you have an old-fashioned, dated, stuck-in-an-era look about you.
I would love a video on that too, or any recommendations of existing ones!
I came here to say just this- dowdy has a more specific meaning than in this video. Prob a language thing indeed
Can’t wait for the next video you mentioned - mature women tips and tricks- I’m in my fifties and would love to see something new to try. Love your vibe Ali! ❤
Yessss yes yes this had to be said! I’m just watching on my couch continuously nodding!! Best content and reminder of our own unique beauty and style!
I love your hair in this video. You look very pretty and I love your makeup too!
Best fashion video i have ever seen! Clears my eyes
Great video! You really do your homework and give us much to think about in terms of personal style. Thank you.
**LOVE** the way things are explained in this video.
your hair looks so pretty! and as usual, I agree with your take! love you!
Thanks Aly!
Loved this one!
You look stunning in this video, Aly! That added softness with the hair really underlined your beauty. Chef's kiss ❤
i love how you articulate everything so well! very interesting and thorough video, thank you :)
Aly, I just want you to know that videos like this one are VERY WELCOMED 😍💐
I love longer hair on you, Aly!
Thank you for the video! Everything you say makes sense.
Another AWESOME video Aly!! 👏🏻💗
Thank you for this great video. And your hair looks fabulous!
Another cool and classy video from Aly! Looking forward mature woman tips! 🤩
I appreciate your approach to beauty.
I just love your videos, your thinking and delivering message in such a calm no judgment way. There is no another channel like yours, Really enjoyed, and so agree with you. It’s all about learning your own face, body, to look yourself. Have a blessed day🙏❤️
Aly I LOVE hearing your honest opinions about beauty, fashion and make-up. Please keep going, I believe you are such a unique video creator. You have your own ways of expressing yourself, besides you are such an intelligent woman with a strong sense! Always a big fan of yours.. looking forward to watch upcoming videos
I remember some years back trying yo think about what "tacky" or dowdy looks were, and at that point I realized that to me, it usually means wearing something that doesn't suit you. An individual item can look dowdy or trashy on one person, but absolutely stunning on another. You just put this so eloquently, tactfully and in such a detailed way. I love it.
Kind of want to show this to my mother as we have gotten into so many fights over my hair. She doesn't realize we do chunky waves now (or the crunchy curls of the 00s thinks the 1980s fluff is the only way for hair to look good.
Thank you for lifting up women and providing them with great knowledge. You use your gifts for the goodness of us all. Much love.🙏
Gurl you look good, so confident, makeup on point! I love that you’re growing your hair out, almost giving California dreaming vibes yet so glamorous
So smart, Aly! Thank you for your channel and for sharing your ideas. You're one of the only people I'll listen to when it comes to style :D
Thais was such a great video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge x
The SG lines look fantastic on you! I'm FG (leaning towards Gamine but definitely yang dominant) and kept thinking that you're way daintier than any FG I've seen thus far. Thanks for your awesome videos!
Dear Aly, looking forward to your video on mature make-up. Hoping to achieve a natural and gorgeous look in my 60s!
You described it perfectly and confirmed to me that it's all about mix&match. I've always done that and I thought I was doing the right thing because that's what my mother did, but then people started recognizing bits in my outfit from different decades/influences and somehow still put me in one category. I still had confidence in my style that was never "trendy" per se, but a mixture of all the things I like. I was wondering if I'm doing it right but yours and Ellie Jean's videos confirmed it so I'm glad we align, as you said, nowadays everybody looks around and is combining all the pieces from around the world, as we travel a lot more and see a lot more. Maybe that's why this nostalgia trend is so popular right now, everybody is mixing everything!! And I love it, I am more of a vintage girl so that's my excuse to finally be trendy :)) I had the chance to experiment with '60s inspired trends and I found out it really suits me, I received more compliments than usual and even the hairdresser suggested sth similar.
Very accurate and insightful observations, a great guide, I learnt so much!
I love your videos and you talk about a lot I've noticed in my last years of aging. I would like to have a video about aging and staying beautiful. Because I dont get away with the make up I wore in my 20s 😅
Your hair is goals, i remember you said years ago balayage is more damaging than full blonde and I am learning the hard way it is! You are one of the only ones that keep full blonde looking classy, healthy, shiny and beautiful, I'm going back
I hadn't seen you in a while and you look so beautiful with this length of hair and the waves 😍 Thank you for the video
You always look classy… your hair and makeup is gorgeous.❤
This was pure gold.
I loved this video! Fascinating look back at fashions. As you mentioned, in certain eras, certain looks were fashionable- hair, clothing, makeup…, the worry for me is that surgeries and fillers to look fashionable, are not so easy to change when they are no longer “in”.
Fantastic video! You are so incredibly informative and knowledgeable in every aspect of makeup, beauty and fashion. I learn so much from you! You are so right about how we unconsciously don’t let go of past decades, with different styles. I’m totally mesmerized by your videos!
I love all your content. You are truly amazing. Do you have any book recommendations on all the knowledge you have learned?
Loved this video, I totally agree with every word you said! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
You’re looking sooooo beautiful in this video!! The hair and top really suits you
I always learn a lot with your videos, thanks❤
Thank you so much for showing Yalitza Aparicio. She represents Mexico 🇲🇽
Great video. You look fabulous!
So true ❤I love playing with colours and I had a couple makeup classes in uni and I would say the “wilder” the colours the more time you need to invest. Your base needes to be as close to perfect as possible and liner and mascara/lashes is a must to pull a cobalt blue eye look off 💙 other than the browns and beiges I would suggest all the metals depending on your eye colour. Silver for gray & blue eyes, light and rose gold for hazel and green eyes, antique gold and bronze for brown eyes. Not saying anyone can’t wear a certain colour but for an easy evening look this is a more or less fail proof pairing. Put a neutral colour close to your skin tone in the crease and blend well. I personally would put a small amount of the metallic shade on my lower lash line but it’s up to your taste. Finish with mascara (black or brown), eyeliner or lashes if you want to. ❤
I loved the video, thanks! ✨
I'd be interested if you made a video on red lipstick! I want to wear red but have such a hard time with it. (I have a pale, yellow cast skin tone with blueish green veins and yellowing teeth 😅).
I enjoy and look forward to every video you make
One minute in, and I already love this video and your observations 😊
I understand what you're saying, but my problem with this whole "Modern" style is lack of color. I truly hate the time we're in due to the lack of colors. Do white I agree we should try to do what's reasonable...but I can't help but hate the modern way of lack of color. Dowdy or not, I love elegance..thankfully I am a deeo autumn...but color feeds my soul and I express myself through color.
Feel the same way
Amazing content. Thank you.
Great video. Thank you Aly! How about that red lip video?
I love the way how you explaining ❤
Hi Aly I'm from India and i am 26 years old i like watching your videos before i sleep because it is relaxing and i gain extra knowledge about fashion, hairstyles and makeup from you . I do inculcate your teachings to spice up my look and to make myself elegant.
Vielen Dank Aly für das gute Video.
You couldn’t be more on the ball 💗
This video is very helpful to me, thank you so much! 💕
I think its fun to add a trend here n there👍 keeping up☺️just keep things in moderation & have fun🙂we all have 1 life to live go for it 😁and Ladies from the 80's out there in 2024 these are good tips 😊
I loved this so much!
Great advice!
Those example photos at 2:33 are amazing!!!
The worst thing when it comes to brown is this current trend, where they brush them upwards with wax or gel, and they look bushy and spikey up top
Yaaaaas! It's just another trend and will go out of style, same as ' instabrows'. My advise...don't follow trends when it comes to brows. For the majority of women medium thick brows work the bests. Nore thin, nore thick. Close to nature.
@@kingatrojanowska4675 agreed!
Yes. I do not like soap brows
As someone with wavy hair and straight ends I hate it but I’m glad others like the look 😅
😂 you’re lucky!
I love your channel so much ❤
This was such a great video!!
Would love to see you touch on the Athleisure trend.
Great video! As always 😊
