If you can pack light enough it’s fine but yeah with their bag fees it’s often cheaper to fly another airplane. (Last time I flew them I was in the exit row for no extra charge)

Just flew frontier for the first time in decades. No more. I paid over $800 to fly roundtrip between DCA and DEN. The ticket price fell almost $100 the day before my flight, and somehow more seats were open than when I booked 2 weeks prior. No low fare guarantees. The crew in DCA was very strict about personal item size, whereas Denver was not. Gate agent pulled 15 people out of line charging $99 because the bags fit but didn’t slide in. This literally caused a riot as we were boarding. There were empty seats in the exit row behind me. When everyone was boarded I asked to move behind out of my full row, and was told yes for $35. Literally 4 mins later to balance the weight on the plane, attendants asked for people in the back to move up front, where 2 people charged the very aisle seats I asked to move to. I asked the flight attendant why she let them move but told me no, asking if they were being charged and she snapped at me. Rude crew altogether. Seats don’t recline and are uncomfortable for long flights. Want water? You get a Dixie cup of it. Have a question about your reservation? Pay $40 to speak with a ticketing agent. No mas!
The government really needs to fine them for charging for everything 😊
I agree with everything you said. With that I fly frontier all the time and everything is spelled out on the website. There are no surprises. I go without luggage and never pick a seat. Usually pay less than $50 rt to Florida from PA. Treat it like riding a bus in the sky.
You didn’t do your research. That’s your fault. If you know how to fly with them you’ll be fine.
@@klimaxxx06 I researched my airlines, bought the stupid bag, avoided the labyrinth of extra ‘gotcha’ fees, but there are only so many choices when making a last minute decision to fly for a funeral. It’s okay to have an opinion different than yours. Doesn’t justify being rude. The airline still sucks IMO.
Uneducated people do struggle on Frontier and other low cost airlines.

I took a midsized backpack to a Frontier flight, which fits perfectly in the sizer and it fell right in, and didn't get charged a fee for it. I flew for the first on my trip to Vegas. The seats are super firm however, I personally found them comfy. The stretch seats are very comfortable. I had a very pleasant experience. I might even use Frontier Airlines for work travel.

I agree with shopping online for an underseat bag. All the carry-ons in the stores are too big for under the seat. I got one in the suitcase style with pull out handle and wheels so it's convenient in the airport. Just big enough for a short / casual trip.
Flying Frontier later this week. I bit the bullet and bought the carry on baggage option!
The first three row seats also give you 5-7inches of leg room. So if your taller its worth the upgrade. It works out to be about a similar size seat to a premium economy on like Delta.

Also, a lot of times if you know how to book just right for a particular destination you can find that competitor non ultra low cost airlines will charge comparable if not equal fares. Sometimes an extra $50 is worth 99% less stress and 2 inches of legroom

Had bag that would slide into bin size-but brought big purse! Panicked til frequent Flyer said put it on like a backpack then sling your sweater over shoulders (over top of it) and tie around neck. She then distracted checkin as I flashed my tkt and I was able to get past - owe her a bunch!
This is why I sprung for a bit more expensive ticket on Alaska! Had an issue trying to pay on the mobile app with my credit card. Called customer service, picked up in less than 30 seconds by a very nice lady in the US , very helpful, got my ticket purchased in about 5 minutes, and no $15 charge for customer service apparently wasn’t my fault ! Gotta love Alaska plus allowed a free large! Carryon!

I fly round trip from St Louis To Las Vegas. My experience has been you can do I slight push to make it fit in the sizer for a personal Item, but if it looks like you are pushing down with all your mite they will charge you.
I got Take off Luggage we used it on Spirit and it was no problem just have to be careful not to over stuff it!

My daughter and I flew on Frontier the first part of February, and our personal bags fit, but my poor daughter layered all her clothes so her bag would fit 😂. I layered mine until I got to the airport and realized I had so e wiggle room and I took off the layered clothing and put it in my backpack😁
While we were still on our trip I started googling luggage that would fit in the personal bag sizer and I found take off luggage. The smaller 2.0 bag will fit in the sizer, I think the larger one is iffy, but I'm going to get my daughter and me both one before we fly again.
If you’re traveling back to the US and have a DutyFree. Beware, the outgoing country will wave the bag fee but if you have a layover the second stop will change you baggage fees

Just flew Frontier from Tampa to Cincinnati RT this past week. Leaving Tampa nobody checked anything. Coming back From Cincinnati they were only asking the people with bags that "looked too big" to put it in and check. They caught 2 that had to pay the $100 before I boarded. So it seems the checking is highly dependent on what city you are flying out of and the agent.
That's so true! Flying out of their hubs (Denver is there headquarters) tends to have more intense checks. We've seen them check every single person and tag upwards of 15 bags in one flight!
@@dinksaround I flew out of Denver back in October and we didn't have any checks that I saw...however, they were warning folks and recommending that they purchase the carry on bag via their app because that was slightly cheaper than the gate agent price. They had also delayed our red-eye flight 3 hours at that point. What killed me was the lady in front of me in a wheelchair who claimed that she had no idea that she had to pay for a carry on bag. huh? When I booked my flight I had to click several times that I understood that it costs extra for a bag. Then I received emails constantly up until my flight was scheduled offering me a chance to still buy that bag. She ended up buying the bag on the app...and yes she needed to because she had two bags with her.
Neither does Orlando, Memphis or Ontario, California 😂
This May i travel from Puerto Rico to Orlando and from Puerto Rico they didn't make people measure the bags , but in Orlando they did it and the bags really fit underseat and fit on the bin , and still they want us to pay

Do pay attention to exactly how long your layover is. I found a round-trip between PDX and BNA for $248 plus luggage. This was pre-pandemic price, but last week. The catch was a 17-hour layover at the airport in Vegas. 😂 No way😊 $100 bucks more got me a 3 hour layover in DEN
Spirit I got both my seats for $15 round trip
they good price for flight . charger extra for everything. paid little bit more for southwest .they crazy for flight.
They are being sued $100M class action suit because they made the personal item container in the boarding gate smaller than the one located in the check in area 😂😂😂 I feel like they should've sued for $1Billion maybe it'll go down to half billion.
Another thing I've learned is, dont show up more than 3 hours before your flight if you have a checked bag; you wont be able to check it in. Then when you pay to have the bag as a carry on that you already checked in so you can go through security, getting the unused checked bag fee refunded will be like pulling teeth.
Honestly. I would rather just pay the extra money and fly AA and not have to go through all this nonsense. I don't mind jumping through hoops but if I can't even figure out what the hoops are, I'm out.
I'd rather just be able to walk on the plane and not have to worry about the Gate Agent Nazis. Not to mention the crazy impossible to follow websites. No thanks.
Little correction. Frontier’s Stretch Seats are in the first 3 rows plus exit rows and unlike their regular economy seats the Stretch Seats both recline and have better seatback tray tables.
Which means you should always avoid Row 4, because the folks in 3 could recline into your cramped space.

I abandoned my flight to SFO from the Charlotte airport after experiencing the tip of the Iceberg in line at the Charlotte airport. It seems you cant just walk up to the KIosk and check in with a a conformation code, you know, like EVERY other airline. They want to you to use your app. My phone is full and cant take any more apps. Never flying Frontier again, or Spirit. There was a fee to see the gate agent, I found out, and fees for bags, which I expected. Then they said I owed fees for selecting seats, i dont recall selecting seats, but they wanted to charge anyway. I see emails now a few days before the unplanned flights now, where they are slashing prices. Gee I wonder why? Do you think their planes arent filling up anymore cause people are mostly now wise to their devious behavior?
The only don't you need is: don't fly frontier. The will change you for all luggage, even the emotional damage they create.

I fly for just the layover. No personal item. No carry-on. No checked bag. Just fly to the layover and enjoy an event or a meal at a nice restaurant.
That’s why I fly Southwest.

I just bought a Cabinzero 28L backpack that’s apparently Ryanair qualified! Yo can get fifteen percent off your first order. $70 or thes the slightly ruggeder military version for $95 but same dimensions. Lots of neat colors too!
I understand that the "personal item" needs to be no larger than 14” X 18” X 8” , but can I bring a small purse in addition to this? From what I'm reading, I don't think I can. Basically everything needs to fit in 14 X 18 X 4" unless I want to pay for a larger carry on?
I’m going to take my small crossbody. This is technically a no no but you can just zip your jacket over it and not get penalized. If it’s something larger, consider using as a packing cube inside your personal item. I’ve done this with a small kankan backpack and it’s worked
Technically, the purse IS the personal item, and your other bag is the carry on (to go above).
I’ve also brought a small crossbody in addition to the bag. If I can’t shove it in my personal item before boarding, then I either zip a jacket over it (like the other commenter said) or I carry it wrapped up in a jacket
Frontier has the most uncomfortable seats I’ve ever encountered. Plus I was bracing for spikes to shoot out from the seats. Horrible. Only fly frontier if you have no other options

I purchased an under seat bag for frontier flight to Buffalo, crossing into Canada. The bag was perfect. Surprisingly no one asked me about it when I went up. But the agent when I came back or should I say when I was in Buffalo, decided to see if my bag would fit. I just smiled at him hovered it over the bin and let it go. There was nothing he can do cuz it's slid right in. Now I will pay for extras on an airline, but it's usually the seat. Not some personal carry-on.
This is possibly the worst airline . They have baggage nazis . I’m older and was freaking out with my backpack . Did not have extra money available . I held it with my left hand and the boarding agent was on my right . Got through - never fly this airline again
Please do not fly Frontier Airlines had a flight from Detroit to layover in Denver and finally to Las Vegas. But first the flight was late getting to Detroit which was late getting us to Denver which gave us 10 minutes to go to baggage claim get our bag and check it in to go to Vegas. So we go to check in and we're too (late) so we go to the agent and rebook. And the agent saying that it's going to be $200 to rebook she had no sympathy like we being (late) it was our fault so we had to sit in the Denver Airport for 7 hours waiting for this next flight to Las vegas. Oh yeah they switch the boarding Gates from where your ticket says at the last minute every time we was about to board Fly Frontier if you wanna

Frontier Airlines:
Have flow Frontier 3x and each time was progressively worse. I have never once gotten the flights as I booked them. Every time my flight time was switched without my permission, endless delayed flights, and incredibly understaffed ticket counters. The last time they switched my direct flight to one with a stop over. Didn’t like it, but I went with it. Then that flight ended up delayed causing me to miss my connecting flight and stranding me in the Las Vegas airport with my grandson for 24 hrs without our luggage. I paid $700 to take a Delta red-eye just to get us home. Horrible! I had to get a couple of hours sleep then go back to the airport to find my luggage. NEVER AGAIN! If you value your sanity, you won’t fly Frontier.
My flight was delayed 15 hours and I missed a full day of my trip and all I got was a $70 voucher for my next flight. Never again.
Do: expect to be nickeled and dimed and every turn.
Don't: expect to enjoy your flight.

I flew Frontier to Denver in October and I hated it!!! It was aggravation upon aggravation. I thought that I was doing the right thing by booking 1 month in advance. I originally booked a flight for Thursday Oct. 6 at 2 pm . 5 times the departure time was changed.I am a dialysis patient and this forced me to re-schedule my treatment day and time. The flight ultimately left at 5:45 am. Because you must be at the airport 2 hours ahead of time, I had no opportunity to eat breakfast and if I had brought food with me, security doesn't permit it past the checkpoint. On the plane, the only thing they offered was brownie M& M's and coffee. I realize this is a low cost carrier but really? You can't serve bagels and cream cheese , muffins or breakfast sandwiches on these early morning flights? The seats were cramped and uncomfortable. There is more leg room on the mass transit system in Philly. The flight attendants were friendly and even allowed me to pose with them for a picture. I could tell that they were trying to make the most of a bad situation. I'm a former restaurant manager, so I know how it feels to keep the customer happy, knowing that the higher-ups in the company are being stingy and unreasonable. I don't blame the crew but the airline. It's sad but I remember the " original" Frontier and it was classy and sophisticated. Many of us were devastated when it disappeared into Continental during the merger mania years. Next time, I'll fly United, Southwest, or take the train. I love Amtrak: you have a choice of booking a general seat or a private state-room, food is plentiful and you can eat at whatever time you like, and the scenery is beautiful. I flew this last time because I needed to get there and back within days, but next time, I'll plan far enough in advance, so I don't have the annoyances. Flying used to be fun and exciting; not anymore.😢

They have to also allow a bag for medical items, but everything in that bag must be for medical items. I have to keep my insulin cold so I packed a cold pack and they allowed it.
