Even if the film was untrue, there’s a point that the movie was trying to make. It was never supposed be about Facebook. The movie is about greed, selfishness, power, and friendship. It’s not trying to tell the story of how Facebook was made, it’s trying to tell a story about someone who’s trying to convince himself he’s not a bad person but is constantly killing every single relationship he comes in contact with.

I wholeheartedly believe he has an immense love for his company, but his past actions show that he was ruthless in achieving his success. I think you should be a hard-worker to get what you want in life and succeed, but I do not believe that you have to backstab others to get there. No matter what society says I truly believe putting people first and compassion will always win.

If that wasn’t the case, they wouldn’t have tried to perfectly recreate every crime scene in Zodiac. As for the Social Network, it wasn’t 100% accurate due to the lack of available info. However, both Sorkin and Fincher went above and beyond in crafting the story to make it as accurate as humanly possible. I mean Sorkin went as so far to interview Natalie Portman who went to Harvard at the time to grasp the effect ‘The Facebook’ had on the campus. I’m sure the film isn’t too far off from what actually happened.

It gives the audience the freedom of choosing who is right solely based on the accurate portrayal of characters.Most people thought mark was lying because he was a dick,and they thought Eduardo was a telling the truth because he seemed like a nice guy.
Exactly, in the film he builds that Face-Smash site in order to take his mind off Erica, implying it's something he enjoys to the point where he can lose himself in it. The reason he continues building and goes onto create Facebook isn't to impress anybody, it's because he feels he NEEDS to build it. Erica isn't some half-assed explanation as to why he did it all, really all she is is a representation of Mark's connection to normal life, and how it gets lost along the way.

david fincher added the story lines to make the movie more interesting and so we could relate to the char better, with the whole social concept and whatnot. the thing i liked about mark in the movie portrayed by jesse was that he was borderline apathetic and neutral, however he was the builder.

First time seeing this. As much as I love the movie, I'm fully awared it IS a movie, not even documentary. So of cource it's more about drama than facts. But actually seeing the movie I can feel how Mark the character "like building things", just from how ambitious he's about expanding, or how defensive & protective about it. It's his work and might even want it to be a legacy, doesn't matter if it's initially just for fun or such.

It is very weird when you think abut this movie. I mean how many biopics actually come out during the main character's life-time? This is one of the few instances where you can actually hear what they thought about the film.

Asoiaf79 Rdr/43 I disagree. His perfectionism shines in both cinema and history. As a perfectionist I think he sees it fit to tell the story with truth. If that wasn’t the case, they wouldn’t have tried to perfectly recreate every crime scene in Zodiac. As for the Social Network, it wasn’t 100% accurate due to the lack of available info. However, both Sorkin and Fincher went above and beyond in crafting the story to make it as accurate as humanly possible. I mean Sorkin went as so far to interview Natalie Portman who went to Harvard at the time to grasp the effect ‘The Facebook’ had on the campus. I’m sure the film isn’t too far off from what actually happened.
He claims he is married to the same girl but those live journal and the AIM chat logs the movie didn’t even reference, are all true. It wasn’t Erica Albright but it was someone else in the original blogs. Mark is full of it. Everyone in 2004 wanted to get laid. Harvard was filled with pretentious human beings who always think they are better when really so few “make it” out of that club.
It's not that filmmakers can't accept that fact. It's that films aren't good if they obey that fact.
The movie did play on the three different stories told during testimonies. It gives the audience the freedom of choosing who is right solely based on the accurate portrayal of characters.Most people thought mark was lying because he was a dick,and they thought Eduardo was a telling the truth because he seemed like a nice guy.
Exactly, in the film he builds that Face-Smash site in order to take his mind off Erica, implying it's something he enjoys to the point where he can lose himself in it. The reason he continues building and goes onto create Facebook isn't to impress anybody, it's because he feels he NEEDS to build it.
Erica isn't some half-assed explanation as to why he did it all, really all she is is a representation of Mark's connection to normal life, and how it gets lost along the way.
What the fuck does it matter if he dated a girlfiriend before he made facebook? Erica Albright dumps him in the movie before he made facebook and is a reason he made FaceMash, not FB. Plus, if that's the only real big difference between the movie and what actually happened, than it means that fucking over the Winklevoss twins and Eduardo was all true man...

All I want is the truth. Clearly he is a genius, but there are a lot of unknowns that he doesn't clarify. I think he is kind of shady - probably stepped on a lot of people to get to the top.

The Social Network is a great movie, and I would imagine there is a lot of truth to it. Regardless of why Mark wanted to create Facebook, the most powerful impact of the movie is his personality. His arrogant and superior attitude is what people will remember most from it.

The Social Network was a magnificent film, and it explains and showcases out time we live in. Mark Zuckerberg (real) is a intelligent, and visionary of a man who wanted to make something out of an idea that the Winklevosses would have done nothing with. Social Netowrk is a film, and is for entertainment sakes if you want a 100% cut dry story watch 20/20

david fincher added the story lines to make the movie more interesting and so we could relate to the char better, with the whole social concept and whatnot. the thing i liked about mark in the movie portrayed by jesse was that he was borderline apathetic and neutral, however he was the builder.

First time seeing this. As much as I love the movie, I'm fully awared it IS a movie, not even documentary. So of cource it's more about drama than facts.
But actually seeing the movie I can feel how Mark the character "like building things", just from how ambitious he's about expanding, or how defensive & protective about it. It's his work and might even want it to be a legacy, doesn't matter if it's initially just for fun or such.
