- Bangkok to Koh Samui via Surat Thani.
Koh Samui, Thailand’s second largest island, lies in the Gulf of Thailand. It's known for its palm-fringed beaches, coconut groves, and dense, mountainous rainforest, plus luxury resorts and posh spas. Indeed that makes it one of the most expensive holiday destinations in Thailand.
We wanted to experience this paradise on a budget and reduced the travel cost by avoiding airfare and opting boat.
Overall the experience was amazing, but we did not expect a vacant ship during our onward journey.
But all's well that ends well.
Let me summarize the travel details:
Cost per person:
Return flight cost from Bangkok to Surat Thani: 2350 THB
Surat Thani Airport to Koh Samui Hotel at Chaweng Area (through RAJA FERRY): 740 THB
Koh Samui Hotel to Surat Thani Airport through SEATRAN: 700 THB
Isn't its the CHEAPEST way to reach Koh Samui?
I would highly recommend SEATRAN, its pier, ship, service, and cost everything was amazing and incomparable.

Hi, even we're planning for Koh samui from Pattaya. Direct flights are really expensive, do you have any suggestions for us?
Either plan way in advance for direct flights or via Surat Thani would be cheaper but will take half of your day.
how did you arrange the Van to hotel @250THB? I guess its in chaweng area.. I am also going to stay at chaweng so wanted to know the price from the pier to the hotel
Right outside the pier you will find shared vans.
