      @@AlexTeo Finally I managed to digest what u been trying to explain 🤭. Since is not necessary to have neutral wire, I doubt I need the electrician to change all switches to smart switches as I can do so myself 😏. Thanks again! U deserved more than just "one thumbs up"!

    For new BTO, the circuit breaker will usually turn off first when there's safety hazard or power surge. So quite safe already

      How the new mismartclock is gonna work with google is still unknown. So aqara hub and aqara app is what you need to work with google

    When the door open/close the aqara hub will start to speak? How do we know from the app when the door open/close. ( ur remote triggered like that message) if we install aqara G2 camera when someone open the door or passes near the door Will the app send the video to our smartphone?

    Thanks for these great videos Alex. About this new gateway, its quite sad that the speaker is not loud enough anymore to be a siren. Is it possible to create an automation to make my Google home speaker or Xiaomi speaker to act as a siren when the alarm is triggered?

      there is an automation rules condition for the gateway alert, so I believe you can have the xiaomi speaker to play something once that condition is met

      yes you can especially each hub has a max cap on the number of child devices you can connect to, and you want to place them in such a way that they cover the entire house where your zigbee devices are placed

      yes google home can control the switches and the m2 hub, not sure about dimmer switch man, didn't go check them out. If I want to control brightness I straight away go with smart bulbs/strips

    Is there a non China version of the gateway 3 ? My China version can only connect the my Aqara D1 switches in the China server.
    When i am in sg server, my China gateway 3 is greyed out when I try to pair with the D1 switches.

      yes both will, either you wait for the global version of the aqara M2 hub, or get their m1 hubs

    Hi Alex, your video is great but i am still confuse with which hub to get.
    I just bought couple of Aqara smart switches and a IMIlab EC2 but i am not sure i should get a XM V3 or Aqara M2.
    Aqara M2 seems better but i have read some vendor disclaimer that it cannot work on mi jia app -- is there a global version set and mainland set difference?

    Do I need this to get additional functions for my lockin s30 pro? There’s limited functions for the door lock in mihome. Eg to get the door lock displayed or work under google home

      previously mihome sg server doesn't support any hubs but now they do, I don't have the lock with me anymore so can't test whether that will appear in google home

    Hi I have a Mi Smart Home Hub Gateway V3 which is controlling my Aqara D1 light. I have successfully linked up both devices in Xiaomi Home App. When I go to Google Home > Set up device > Works with Google > Xiaomi Home and login successfully. The devices does not appear in Google Home app, any idea why?

    Thsnks Alex, the video was great. I am presently using a mixed of Mi Home hub and Aqara hub. Mi Home is set to Sg server and Aqara is set to Mainland server. Mi home devices are linked to my Google platform but I just can’t get my Aqara linked to Google. Could it be, my Aqara devices are linked to Homekit?

      homekit part i'm not very sure as I'm not using any apple products anymore. You will want to use the aqara app connecting to the 'other' region if you want to use google home.

      aqara app (others) + aqara m1 hubs (3pin & CN) + aqara D1 switches + aqara sensors and wireless switches
      All integrates with Google except for sensors and wireless switches. Set your automation rules in aqara app, mobile/voice controls use Google home direct.
      This is my recommended setup in SG.

    Hi alex. I was wondering what made you decide to go with aqara instead of tuya. Tuya is natively supported by smart things unlike aqara. Tuya also supports local operation, not requiring internet connection if you have the zigbee hub. Xiaomi also has these region nightmares.

      @Alex Teo no it does not require home assistant. But i have not yet tried. I bought a set of tuya products recently and im waiting for the items to arrive. Will keep you posted. But one of paul hibberts videos shows local operation. Ill post it here later.

    Hi Alex want to get your thoughts. Having hubs around the house is so unsightly for light switches only (IMO). I want to future proof and go directly to wifi. If I am running a wifi 6 mesh router through the house would that get rid of the interference? Wondering if you have any experience or know where I can find the answer....thanks!

      using wifi switches are not future proof. Actually in your case, you will have only 1 hub at most so I guess its fine especially the aqara one can double as a night light. What interference are you referring to?

      @@AlexTeo My concern is that one m2 hub will not be able to cover an entire flat that is 1K sq ft.? In your video you have a gateway and as you said, no neutral in light switch means it doesn't act as a repeater.
      The only way is to do a test. I am planning to buy a M2 hub and 1 wireless switch to test the range to start. Is that a good idea?

      most likely just their range of smart home products, better check with them to confirm.

    Does this mean that I can't integrate the Xiaomi Home Sensors outside Xiaomi Ecosystem like Philips Hue, Smartlife, etc? If so, what's your recommendation to integrate? I've just started transforming my place to Smart so I have already owned few smart devices but some of them are not Xiaomi brands. And now, I wanted to invest in the sensors so I am looking for the smartest way to integrate. Thanks!

      depends on how big is your house and where you placed the hub. If strategically placed, you may need just 1 hub. Same idea as how you setup your wifi to make sure the entire house has coverage.

    Hi Alex, thanks for the video. I have a question regarding Aqara devices. I understand that we can link Aqara to Alexa to enable voice command in Alexa to trigger an Aqara device action. Is it possible for us to use an Aqara sensor (say the Aqara cube) as a trigger to set up an Alexa routine?

      Can't in google home, i doubt it can it alexa, but worth a try since alexa comes with a zigbee hub in their latest models

    Hi. I have some question… I am using mi home Singapore region , I am wondering , can I get the aqara switch or mi hub or aqara hub from tao bao? Since you said region Singapore mi home only can using global version mi product , how can I know those product is global version, one more question , is it Global mi hub / aqara hub sensor will be less battery consumption too ? Zigbee ?

      you can just see the list of supported devices in the app on singapore region and you won't see any hubs there

    Hi Alex , recently I got a Aqara M1S hub CN version however found it not able to connect to the Aqara app... Keep on failing in the last step "Fail to send network access information". I've connected to 2.4G wifi already and tried with Mijia CN app and it worked. But since the rest of my devices are all in aqara app and connected to Google home, this is definitely not a solution for me. I've been looking on the internet but didn't find any solutions. Perhaps you have some experience? Really appreciate if you could help.

      Why don't you use back your existing hub since you have all of them in the aqara app? I don't own a M1S so can't advise on that. What i have in the video are both M1 - a UK 3pin and a CN pin

    Hi Alex. I’m setting up my new house and i bought some magnetic track smart lights from Taobao.
    The shop owner told me that if i want to control the lights, i will need to get the 小爱同学 speaker,is there any ways for me to control the lights without buying the 小爱同学 and just control the lights via my xiao mi app on my iphone? Or we need to buy a gateway for it?

      You are stuck with aqara app which i find the user experience better than mihome, switches and sensors doesn't matter, what matters is the hub

For the hub initially i thought only global released ones can connect to 'others', but apparently my fren's china socket hub can also do that. Both are the ver1 hub, the m2 i heard can only connect to china which you don't want that

      best is to check with the seller of that aqara zigbee smart door lock whether it is supported in the 'other' region, my guess is yes.

    Hi alex, I have around 20 lights at home. They are all wifi. And naturally slows down my router and together with phones and mobile phones and tv there are a total of 40 devices which is toomuch for my router. Devices get disconnected and don't work propely
    I wanted to cluster them with a Gateway so router will not be directly connected to them. Do you think this will be a good solution? And do you think xiaominhub will be a good idea? I got zigbee wireless gatway but Infindout that one only has zigbee and not wifi. Now I ordered this xiaomi and hoping it will solve my problem.

      no, having multiple wifi will cause interference which will affect your wifi

    I have the Gateway V3 and some Mi/Aqara zigbee sensors, plugs and bulbs for a while now. I am able to set up all sorts of automation, but these zigbee devices are not controllable with Google voice. I have now bought an Aqara gateway M1s, hoping to be able to use Google voice to control my Mi Zigbee plugs and bulbs through the Aqara hub using the Aqara android app. However I cannot seem to set the M1S up with the Aqara app on Android. But I can set up the Aqara M1S in my Mi Home App in my Android phone. I would like to use the Aqara M1S gateway with the Aqara app in my Android phone, so that I can use google voice. Is there something that I am missing?

      @@AlexTeo Hi Alex, Unfortunately the M1s I bought is China region locked and hence only able to setup with China region, hence unable to connect to Google Home. Wish I had known earlier that Google is not allowed in China, hence no google Home on all China locked gateways. So its a waste of money that. I also found out that the M1S can be set to either Aqara app mode or Mi home App mode (reset and press button twice quickly immediately after the announcement, to switch between modes) with some success of linking only zigbee bulbs to Google Home through Mi Home app (region free hacked), but completely unable to link anything to Google home with Aqara app (china region). Now, I am going to get an international version of M2 from a local seller on carousell, who say its compatible with Google Home. Hopefully, I will be able to use google voice to control my collection of Aqara and Mi range of zigbee sensors, sockets, switches and bulbs. Have also ordered a Google Home enabled Tuya multimode gateway online. Such a hassle to get all Aqara and Mi zigbee and BT child devices to work with Google Home... Will probably set up Home Assistant in a Raspberry Pi in the future, if I cannot find a universal solution.

      @@dchey01 going the home assistant route will be probably taking it too extreme for you, why don't you explore samsung smartthings first, eventually you still need a centralize solution if you want to scale up your smart home.       @@leyyee nope, as mentioned xiaomi hub can only be used in mihome via the china region server, the great firewall of china blocks all google services so probably only those products that u see in our local xiaomi stores can work with google voice

Not sure whats the difference. Some aqara D1 switch china version, sellert mention need to China version and some global version dont require that. Now iam confuse on what version to go for. If i have 1 global and 1 china, will they work? Please advise. Thanks.
