- Silicone molds can be made using lots of different strategies. in this video I explore 3 kinds of molds: open back molds, one-piece cut molds and rotation molds.
After the molds are made I use colored urethane resin to cast copies of the molded parts

Would you like to mold and cast something but have no idea how to start? Send pics of your project to me and maybe I’ll do it as a CZcams video.

As I’m watching this and seeing all work that goes into your work and time minus the edit that we don’t see but I can image even all the little stuff, its definitely a lot of work for this little guy! He’s cutie and does look fun to do!
I have a crystal container that has a design on the top and I couldn't figure out how to make a mold out of it until I saw you completely cover your cast then just cut it out! helped me allot! Thanks!!
I really enjoyed seeing this and I learned a lot!
Really interesting instructional video, to the point. No "ballast" talk, just what you need.
Thank you so much, this is the first video I've seen from you, but it is the most useful mold making video I've ever watched. New subscriber.
+Zinzi Thanks!

Love how you teach the small details that sets us up for success.
This is an incredible source of information that is simultaneously very entertaining. Thank you so much for your hard work and great sense of humor!
I had a mild curiosity as to what it would require to even make a mold. And this video did NOT disappoint!! Fascinating process, excellent descriptions of the processes and the reasons for each. I'm just in awe, it looks like so much fun!! I don't doubt there's an incredible amount of experience that's required to do this correctly like this professional, but consider me inspired!! Thank you for sharing your expertise and satiating my desire to explore mold making (sorry if that's the wrong term, I'm new lol) great content! Thanks again 😊
Nice video, I've been doing 3D printing for a while and this video alone has convinced me I need to add resin molding to my repertoire of tools.
Thanks Alvaro. I’ve also been 3D printing for many years but have always sent files out to be printed. I am just now adding machines to my own studio. Molding and casting is a great compliment to 3D printing.
Well taught, and fun too!
Thanks Robert!!!

Love your videos. Look forward to the next one.
From an old metal moulder, great video. You've got me interested in resin casting. Well presented and enough information without overloading the learner. I have done some vulcanised rubber moulds for rings and other jewellery and this looks like an interesting new step to take. Thanks.
Thank you very much for your reply Robert - appreciate it
Wow, I just got introduced to a whole new set of art forms, thanks man! Great Video

Thanks so much for your nice comment!
You are the best thank you Robert I’ve learnt so much from you … I’m still looking back from your previous post TY x🇬🇧
Nice demo, and I also love your mold-maker's fidget spinner. :-) I am currently experiencing the newbie woes of using too much expensive silicone, alas. No matter how much college we have, we always are paying for our education, it seems. Thanks for the lesson!
The materials are expensive - no doubt!
I always try to focus the videos on the least expensive, most efficient way of doing things.
But the learning curve is steep and can be costly, especially when a mold doesn’t come out right.
Thanks so much for watching!
I came here to learn about making silicon molds for resin but I left with some much more. A very inspirational video Robert, thanks heaps for sharing it!
Thanks Matthew!
Good lord, The amount of useful tips in this video! Awesome Thanks!
abgsolutely amazing! love the different methods demonstrated and the tips thrown in along the way kept me focused and engaged!

Thanks for watching! Glad my video is helpful to you.
Incredibly interesting!!! A true master at work
I learned a neat trick for estimating amount of pour needed. After you set it up, before you mix your pour, fill with rice. Then pour rice into measuring cup to give you a fairly accurate measure of what you need. Works with me, but I add just a little more for good luck.
That's a great idea!
I love watching you. I love the silly things you say. I haven't watched for a while so it's really good to see you.
Yea, I dig this guy ...and the dump truck he brings to carry all that Knowledge and Confidence along wit him. Lol Keep it rolling man
