    Solid hit makers from the early-mid 90s, def check out Hey Jealousy, which I think is their most powerful song, and infinitely relistenable.

      @Drederick Tatum Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.

    Toad the Wet Sprocket is another great band within the genre. A period of music overshadowed by grunge.

    Hi Ray, yes your right this was a song, which most of the early stuff, were written by the lead Guitar player Doug Hopkins written about his girlfriend, Sondra. He unfortunately shot himself after he was kicked out of the band because of his alcoholism and depression in 1993. I lived in Tempe Az. and knew the other Guitarist, Jesse Valenzuela, and met Doug and the lead singer Robin Wilson and Bass player Bill Leen

    Honestly, Gin Blossoms' entire first album, New Miserable Experience, is worth an in-depth listen, it's an absolutely fantastic album. As a side note, I'd love to see you react to some songs by a band called The Gamits. They're a punk band out of Colorado, and they're absolutely fantastic. My favourite album by them is called Parts, and a close second is Antidote. They're interesting because they use a lot of weird chords, really good basslines, and absolutely fantastic drums. Their music has helped me through some really tough times, too.

    Love this from the first moment I heard it. Even though I was 30 something it brought back all the teenage angst about those summer loves that disappeared when school started. All the time rehashing what was said and what was done, and wondering if it was everything you thought it was or just in your imagination. What really happened.

    Wow, I didn't know that about their guitarist. Makes a lot more sense out of the band name now knowing that he was that dedicated to alcohol. Another great song by them to check out is "Til I Hear It From You", which I think is one of the best written pop rock songs of the '90s.

      The distance to here by the band "live" is perfection from start to finish....oh and yes, they have other songs as well..... Lmao....yup a genius gathering of like and love minded folks....i think that was probably the point though.....lightening crashes , although beautiful and profound, accidental hit song? They went waaaay deeper after they went " lets get a hit song" Record company edict...lol....i digress......the distance to here is a deep and reflective ,inteospective , meditative tretise on awakening , soul shaking love and ..... Well.....lets see what u find maybe?

    The Gin Blossoms have that stereotypical 90s pop sound. Their other hits are equally as good, haven't heard anything by them not played on FM radio. Perhaps you could find a huge Gin Blossoms fan that can recommend some hidden gems by them. On a side note, the guy at work that controls the radio, absolutely hates the GBs. I'm guessing his hatred of them has something to do with a female 😂

  • @killurbluffkillurbluff5570

    This is likely their best song a d Everybody listened to it back then, no 1 I knew ever changed the station when radio played it.
    HOOBASTANK I Finally Found A Reason is a ST8 BOP from that era also

    • @lastnote
      @lastnote Před 3 lety

      Huh? That Hoobastank song is from a completely different era - recorded over a decade later. They aren't even the same genre of music and sound nothing alike. If you're looking sounds that are similar to Gin Blossoms, stay far away from Hoobastank...

    • @killurbluffkillurbluff5570
      @killurbluffkillurbluff5570 Před 3 lety

    • @lastnote
      @lastnote Před 3 lety +1

      @@killurbluffkillurbluff5570 NO, they are not the same genre - one is hard rock and one is alt rock, completely different thing. And NO, they are not from the same era. I never said that you said they sounded exactly the same, I'm making the point that they are so different, and from different time periods, that it's just bizzare to bring up when comparing to Gin Blossoms. It's like saying "hey, you like Blues Traveler? Check out Good Charlotte too!"

      @user-ux1vj9vx7s Před 2 lety +1

      @@killurbluffkillurbluff5570 Lol You’re an idiot. The other guy is right.. A decade apart and complete different genres. Also, It’s just called The Reason, Dipchit. They don’t even say “I finally found a reason” anywhere in the song. Maybe you’re thinking of Touch, Peel and stand by Days of the New.
