Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

Visited here a few months ago when I was in Sweden and it was so nice great old town and the ruins/lake areas where very nice.
Beautiful place with special atmosphere. I visited Sigtuna for the first time in April 1999. Now I can see that Rikstelefon booth is still here, and boy with sailboat also. Thanks Daniel, thanks Olov.

Just caught up with this fab walk! I've been very busy with work and family stuff and have been watching when I can! I'm still one of the crazy people who've watched ALL your videos! Sigtuna is such a pretty town but I'd have liked to have had a closer look at the runestones. Just a personal interest of mine!

Hi Daniel from Australia. I lived in Stockholm for a year a very long time ago. I came over to be with my girlfriend and stayed for a year. I loved Sweden very much and hope one day I might get back. Min flicka Maria and I ended up apart but still as good friends. We lived at 18 Dalagatan near Odenplan and now I have discovered your channel I will keep watching closely in case you might oneday go past our old place. The big courtyard was filled with children at lunchtime, so it may of had a connection to a school. That was probably around 1994. I have subscribed and will look forward to more wonderful Swedish walks. Hejdor....don't know if I spelt that correctly,but you know what I mean.😄
Isn't Stockholm wonderful? Australia doesn't come anything close to the history of this place. Maybe parts of Melbourne have some of that old world look. But even then, most of Australia is quite modern looking
@@Lex.S.theonlyone we are a very young country and don't have history that dates back to the early years of the Vikings and so forth but the little we do have is pretty interesting and has got some bloody good stories.
I loved my time over there, the people and culture were something I remember very fondly..but remember what Dorothy said in " The Wizard of Oz"?? There's no place like home.😄

Hello everyone! I have to say that today's video was beautiful, the colors were very vivid the greens were green. I'm very impressed by the quality of your camera. I thought it was HDR at first but it doesn't say that in the description. The town itself seems like it is halfway between Stockholm and Uppsala. How far does Tunnelbana go? Is the only way to come here by bus?
