When Steve and Bucky are fighing on that Hydra spaceship,Bucky actually talks and yells at him about how's he's just his mission,that is why he was trying to convince himself of it. In that moment Bucky and the Winter Soldier were fighing for control,Bucky didn't want to win tho,because he knew that if he did he would have been tortured (more than usual)until Steve said the famous line.
Yes we love that friendship more than anything😭😭😭
Also when Steve told him his name, Bucky yelled at him to "shut up" because if he remembered and didn't complete his mission, he'd be hurt again. He just wanted to avoid more pain.

When you realize that the movies don’t really talk about the other missions he had to go on. Every single movie has him being forced to fight and hurt his friends. Crumbling him more and more as he watches from behind this mask as every single one of his “friends” turns on him and is perfectly willing to fight and hurt him. Except Steve but then Steve leaves. Sam is the only one that is real

Ok so I’ve heard a lot of people say that Bucky was needed in the show and while I agree I think I know why. So he was going to therapy now due to government regulations my guess is that before he didn’t have a therapist and didn’t open up so he kept it bottle all inside and that’s where a lot of the fuel to his strength came from is his trauma. But often as a trauma survivor myself I’ve personally noticed that as I start to open up and trust people that a lot of my built up anger while it’s still there it’s not the same. I think that Bucky’s mind in the show while it is recovering most of it is that there’s that first initial download for say of actually registering emotions but then there’s the secondary shit that will likely set in in thunderbolts of coming to terms with it and learning to use it. But I mean if your gonna nerf a character at least make it believable such as make some overwhelming flashback overcome him. Something logical.

So much pain he was in because his mind was torn between to different places the thing was he was still in control of not being the winter soldier when he briefly remembered who Steve was he has such a great love for his best friend Steve that’s how much he loves him now he can finally put the past behind him and focus on his mental and hopefully bright future with his family and friends
He really deserved so much more..i feel so bad for him. He went through so much pain in his 70 years with HYDRA 🥺🥺. He couldn't control what he did when he was The Winter Soldier, and when Iron Man found out that The Winter Soldier killed his parents, Tony blamed him not knowing that Bucky was brainwashed over and over again after each mission. Tony never u derstiod what Bucky went through. Bucky didn't mean to kill Tony's parents, HYDRA forced him to and I feel so sorry for Bucky and Tony, but mostly Bucky 🥺
One thing I don't understand is, when Bucky finally comes back after zero trigger the winter soldier in Civil War, Bucky asks "what did I do?". But he later says, and we definitely see, that he remembers everything. So why did he ask? He should have already known
I’m pretty sure his memory came back slowly; he went thru so much trauma that his confusion in the beginning had more to do with the fact that he could not process any of it, than any actual memory loss. Honestly his brain was just scrambled eggs at that point, with all the times it had been wiped and reprogrammed etc.. These are just my opinions tho :))
I think he was meaning what did he do at the place they were holding him in when he snapped into his winter soldier mindset
Basically what I happened is because his brain had been scrambled so much, his memories sort of come in a weird order, sometimes he could remember what he ate for breakfast a week before but not remember if he had eaten lunch yet for a while. Also, the code words push Bucky down and resurface the winter soldier, but Bucky is still watching, so while he didn't remember what he did at first, after a moment of focusing he remembered that Zemo asked him about Siberia. I think that's it at least
@@ilovebuckybarnestoomuch Technically though, Zemo started asking him about Siberia just before he activated him. That line has always kind of confused me though too. There's a book which suggests Bucky was induced into a sort of trance/dreamlike state for missions and wiped afterwards, so he probably didn't remember them at the time. Might have been only later that his memories of what happened during missions started coming back.
My other theory though is that when he said "I remember all of them" is that he wasn't being totally honest. He was taking responsibility because that's what he thought people expected of him, instead of saying he couldnt' remember which might have sounded like an excuse. Or maybe he could only remember bits and pieces: faces of his victims rather than specifics.
So, according to the book the Wakanda Files, the trigger words put Bucky into an almost trance or dreamlike state which also accounted for why he didn't seem to feel pain during missions, but could feel pain when he was for example having his mind wiped. The memory loss was seperate, largely caused by HYDRA's torture and conditioning.
My theory then is that because he was knocked out when the helicopter fell in the river it snapped him out of the trance, so he just didn't remember what had happened immediately before, like people reportedly don't remember what they've done whilst hypnotised.
However, when the Winter Soldier he was basically never snapped out of it, and was always in that state. He went straight from mission, to giving a report to a mind wipe then cryofreeze where he had zero brain activity.
During missions he was probably in that state for longer until he had to give a report. So he was never "snapped out" of it, it just had his mind wiped of recent things and was put back into crytofreeze whilst in a confused state with his recent memories gone. It wasn't until the Winter Soldier movie that Steve kind of "snapped" him out of it.
At that point, his missions were probably all he remembered, and it was his other memories that he had to get back. Once he stopped being tortured and frozen, his memories back more quickly and his HYDRA programming disintegrated. He didn't have to obey orders anymore, etc.
This made my heart crumble into a million pieces and sink into the depths of my stomach T_T
But whoever made this, I love you 💕
