Thank you for sharing the results of the craft fair. One thing I've found that helps sales is having your display go up vertically. Like drape fabric over boxes & have things at different levels. Things can get lost when they are all behind each other at one level. I've found that displays that go up tend to catch my eye more when I'm shopping. I spent the weekend scouting out more shows that I can possibly do next year! I'm glad you did so well on many of your items! You did have a lot of cute things that I would have purchased if I saw them!

Laura Tieri I agree..... and also amber you mentioned you should have had a sample out of your mini journals and I think so too....and maybe those would cater to the younger crowd....so maybe cutesy paper rather than grown up pretty paper?i showed my friend some of theses same items I am making and she was all over the recipe keepers and the Christmas planners...... paper products are sooo new in our area....

As I watched your videos, and made mine, I just fell totally In love with each project. My craft fair was this weekend and I'm telling you folks went CRAZY over them ! And I am hooked ! While at the craft fair, I was told of another craft fair in 2 weeks in a resort area in the mountains...she told me that the ones attending would love them, so I'm back with my supplies and will offer these beauties! Thank you again, for spending your time and please thank your sister as well...

Hi Amber, I haven't really commented on your videos but have been watching them for several months. For some time we have had the intention of doing different things for craft fairs but your videos help get us going. I had planned on making a bunch of cards at different price points, some altered composition books and planners but after seeing yours and some other videos we went with the variety (not as many as yours but we did several of your items). We started crafting too late so we were doing a lot over the last two weeks. As we shopped at the Dollar Tree, some of what you made inspired me to make a couple different items with the breath drops and tissues. I am happy to share with you what we did but this is more to thank for the inspiration and all of your updates. Interesting that a couple of your best sellers were similar to ours although we did a different twist on the hot chocolate and use the pockets to put packets of Capucinno packets with a biscotti cookie. Thanks again for you all your inspiration!!! Also, your updates showing us what you do at the booth, and how you evaluate the sales is awesome!!

Thank you for sharing with us, Amber. I always love the items that you, and your sisters make and show us on here. I love all of the beautiful things that your mom makes too, but look and admire is all I can do, there. She is an awesome seamstress, and I can't darn a sock, lol. I am sure that I am not the only one who appreciates you letting us know what sells well, and what doesn't, also. I will be doing a Christmas, or holiday sale here in my little town over the next few weeks, and I'm working on making some of the items that you showed in your videos. I think that the gratitude journals will be a big seller here, along with the candy treat holders and the cocoa/apple cider pouches. Many Blessings to you and your family.

  • @minikraut
    @minikraut Před 6 lety

    Dear Amber,
Thanks for sharing - most people will try to give away as little as possible about how they did and more so for how specific items did! I have been selling several types of crafts but my long time standing thing is dollhouse miniatures. And one thing I have learned is that there are a lot of customers lacking inspiration of what to do with items they see. So it comes as no surprise to me that your bestselling items were either ready to go - like the chap stick or the twix items and of course the tey bag thingies - or very clearly denominated, such as the christmas notebooks. Clear instructions were invisibly written all over them. No extra work. No creativity needed, ready to use.
    Just a thought.
    Best of everything, Stef

Hi Amber, so glad you and Bri did well! I took your advice about packaging and wrapped all of my items separately in plastic envelopes and put the price right on the plastic so that ppl don’t wonder what the price is. Also I bought cute little christmas bags to give out with their purchase...instead of using grocery bags (which I have done for years)and it really shows you think about the shopper too (thanks for that idea too).
I had a friend over to show them my stuff and have a “pre sale”just for them and they commented on how professional everything looked packaged up and they LOVED the little bags I put their stuff in! I agree with a few comments below, bring some of your items “up to eye level”. I did that last year after reading a lot about how to sell at craft fairs and it looked better and I am sure I sold more. One more thing I did was put on the signs what they item could be used for, such as “great teacher gift”or “stocking stuffers” and “secret santa gifts”...and I could actually hear ppl say..oh yeah, great idea and then sold!
Thanks so much for this series, and telling us the price of your items. Although we pay much more for stuff in Canada I just priced mine accordingly. I usually figure out how much it cost me to make it (including packaging) and double it. My craft fair is on the 25th so I can’t wait to see if the ideas I took from you sell! Thanks again!!!

    Amber,
Thank you so much for the recap! Great feed back for all of us crafters!
I watch all of your posts and appreciate all of your time and effort you put into them. Thank you for sharing your creativity and all of your secrets!
I too am a crafter and paper lover however, the clientele at the craft shows that I sell at don't have much interest in paper crafts. I do keep trying though. I did better with the chocolate goodies.
You give out some great tips so I thought I would give you my best tip...I did find that if you elevate things rather than displays on a flat table, to bring them eye level, helps tremendously! In one post I noticed that your mother has some type of screen, (it looked like chicken wire) to hang the aprons, try packaging some items in bags with toppers or ribbons and hang them on a similar vertical display. Or, easy one, Try putting some empty boxes on your table, tall ones in the back row and shorter ones in front of them, creating a "stair step" effect. Then put your tablecloth over them. This will elevate your items and make a more pleasant display. I have also put 2 small wood shelves (like those white cubes that you can purchase at Michaels or Joann's or even some wooden wine crates) placed on each end of the table, put a long board across top of the 2 boxes, creating a 2 level display.....keep it simple, yet effective. I actually pack things in my wine crates and then use the crate in the display. Google craft show booth set up and have a gander at what others are doing.
One more thing, ... if you raised your prices just 25 cents on each item, it would still not be overpriced, it would still be reasonably priced and you would make a better profit. Thank you again and God bless you and your family. 😉

I loved watching your whole craft series this year! Thank you for sharing your after video with us, I was hoping you would! 😀 Glad to hear you did so well after all the work you put in on making everything! I think your air heads would sell at your next fair as stocking stuffers if you remove the middle paper from each one so they can see what the candy is, like you did with the twix packages. Also you can get a medium sized stocking and have a few different candy packages peeking out of it to help give your customers the idea to use them as stuffers. Good luck on your next craft fair! TFS! 😊

Thanks for making a video on what sold well and what didn't! Your insights are very helpful to this "newbie" to craft fairs! I am a paper crafter and have so many ideas and want to make some items that will be worth the time. The nugget packages and hot chocolate packets are already on my agenda!

Amber....thanks for sharing! I just got done with 2 craft shows over the last two weekends......my best sellers in both were my Hershey bar snowmen that I found on Pinterest. I make the nuggets also but make them into little snowmen and those were my best sellers last year. Like you, I have been selling a long time and it is a learning process as you say. Thank you for all your ideas and have a Happy Holiday!

Thank you for the informative video. It really helps to show what does well and what does not. I know there is no guarantee from event to event, but it still is helpful to people like me who set up to know what to keep in mind. Thank you again.

Omg!! I love ur craft fair series. always informative and fantastic creative ideas. makes me wish I could be a paper crafter, however I make jewelry. I love the cereal box cover notebooks. they probably would sell better at a back to school fair , like in July or August. another suggestion , I agree with gift tags, beautiful but stamp on it the ' to' and 'from. much love from long island, N.Y.

Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful ideas and doing a recap. I would get up every morning over the last month and check youtube first thing to see if you had a new video! Can you tell us a little more about the craft fair in general - where it was, types of vendors, # of people, etc. Thanks!!

First off, I LOVE everything you do! That being said I know I’m really late to the party considering it’s practically Easter 2019. This is my 3rd video and I’m already looking up some of the things on Amazon (it’s storming so I can’t go to the Dollar Tree and I have a craft room that could restock most Michael’s). I am in awe! I so wish you lived next door to me!
I’m not sure where you are but dang your stuff is affordable! I’m in the process of launching an Etsy store soon to be followed by its own website and the product line is growing. I love Anna Griffin products so you can imagine that all of the things I Create are expensive just to create. However we’re including other products and other designers and I love what you do.
You seem to know your market very well and I envy that, it is the one thing I will miss with an online business.
If I may offer a few suggestions, and please bare in mind I haven’t watched your other videos so you may have already addressed these areas...
Your sister’s bows: okay here in the South most girls are “bow heads” we like bows. Would it be possible to hang a long wide ribbon or a large braid or yarn and clip the bows on it. It will show many diff colors/designs and likely get Mom’s and daughter’s attention.
I’ve learned that most people who do crafts or like crafts are generally very kind and caring people because to craft is to make something with love. I think your Gratitude journals did so well because your audience knew what they were. Perhaps with your other journals have examples as you mentioned, perhaps one as a travel, one as a sort of personal “calendar and keep up with my to dos”, also think about creating a prayer journal or a wish journal (for those who don’t want to be tied down to a specific religion). I know one artist who will take prayer requests/wishes and write them on a canvas before she begins painting and then they are contained under the art sealing your prayer for all eternity.
Your gift tags: I personally love gift tags! You’re going to laugh but I think perhaps you had too many in the package, sometimes creating the idea of scarcity is a good thing. I would only put about 6 in each package, charge perhaps $1.50, keep them in the same color family. Did the all season ones say happy birthday or congratulations or anything like that? The paper is beautiful and you and I will always be drawn to it but I fear a customer may worry about matching it. Also if it didn’t have a ribbon on the end to attach it just add one.
Also get a small table top Christmas tree and hang the tags from it as if they are ornaments.
You can also wrap and empty box, use one of the tags and your sister’s bows as the bow on the package.
Loved the cereal box notebooks and when you had them standing up I knew what they were. When I saw them in the basket I thought they were a cookbook using that product, remember when Campbell’s soup put out a cookbook and Hershey?
One thing someone else told me also was to offer something for $3 each or 2 for $5 or if you notice one item isn’t selling like you expected when you’re checking someone out at your table or your sisters tell the customer that with every purchase over “x” dollars today we’re offering 20% off (of the item that isn’t selling).
I hope I haven’t overstepped my boundaries. Please know that every bit of what I’m saying is in pure love. You just have me so excited with your enthusiasm and ideas that I want to run out and do a craft fair right now!
