Hey, my grandma (who woulda been 100 this year), made a "poultice" of Vicks salve, camphor oil & whiskey on a scrap of fabric. She'd warm it over the stove, then pin it inside my shirt when I was coughing & congested with a cold. My sister & I called it the drunken cough drop. It definitely cleared out the sinuses & stopped coughs! And we slept like babies-probably from absorbing all that whiskey! Southern home remedies at their finest! Love it when Miss Kay joins the show! So glad she's okay! Blessings to y'all!!!

My son Joey was the unattended Dr Pepper vacuum cleaner. If you set your Dr Pepper down for a second, he would drain it in seconds. Didn't matter what size. Sometime before Kindergarten he got a big swallow of a cuzzin's bottle of dip spit. Puked his guts out all day. Never picked up another unattended soda or water bottle again. Lol.

I grew up in Mexico and everyone gave their kids vaporub when they were sick. I can't tell you how many times we ate vaporub and never got sick from it and got better. Lol. We also were dewormed as kids. It wasn't just my family, the whole town did it.

Don't feel bad Si, Growing up my great granny used to make all us grandkids swallow a glob of Vicks vapor rub if we had chest congestion. It REALLY WORKED breaking up the mucus.
