Terrence is an Australian born teacher and guide of Non duality. Like us all, Terrence had his own personal back ‘story’ (a ‘me’) which included sexual abuse as a child, living in a dysfunctional and broken family followed by drug addiction, divorce, depression and anxiety with suicidal thoughts.
During his journey, he consulted various psychologists and therapists and pursued a variety of spiritual paths and self-help groups. Nothing seemed to relieve the deep-seated experience of separation and isolation.
Then one day in 1986 he chanced to meet Sailor Bob Adamson who had settled in Melbourne following his 12 months with Nisargadatta Maharaj in Bombay. Here Terrence gained an intellectual understanding of non duality. However, it was many years later that his sense of self ('me') finally collapsed.
What resulted was no more searching, no wanting and no desires, and a state of being carefree. It was in this state of collapse that his true nature was revealed; awakening from the dreamed fictitious personal character. Since then Terrence has been pointing the way to non dual realisation or awakening. His pointings are profoundly direct and yet delivered with compassion, warmth and fun!

Thank you for sharing this video. Terry is such a good pointer. If anybody watches the video and follow his pointers, will get to the empty point. Initially, every pointer question will have the mind looking around for answers. It is like a person trying to see who is behind the person's self (without a mirror) similar to a dog chasing its own tail. Another good generic pointer question is "what is prior to form?" or "what was prior to form?" You can replace "form" with any object, including the "me" and ask the question. If you answered "consciousness." Then, what is prior to consciousness, which is not nothing?
The experiencing pointer section of the video was very good. Thank you for sharing. Another pointer question is "did you personally experience your own birth?" or "did you experience your body prior to, at, or after birth?" When was the first time you personally experienced your own body as you are experiencing it now? Where did your language come from? The language came from your parents and school, right? So where did the "experience" of your own body come from? If you have never personally experienced your own body at birth, then how do you know your body is solid? Touch the table with your finger. How do you know the table is solid without describing it? Where does the experience of solidity come from? Describe red without showing any objects, colors, or any other descriptions.
The conscious pointers in the video were also good too. Thank you for sharing. Is your hand conscious? Are your feet conscious? Are your ears conscious of hearing? Is your mouth conscious of taste? Are your eyes conscious of seeing? If not, then how do you know you are conscious, without pointing to any objects?
Did you ever notice in the video, when he answered, "I do not know." Then he goes on to provide answers. He just missed the pointless point! "I do not know" is an honest answer. The "I" does not know. As another author eloquently said the "I before I am" does not know. Thank you for the pointers in the video. 😊🙏

The human body is an intelligent living organism with mind as its instrument to be aware of the world by its incessant thoughts.
Incessant thoughts come ( or arise in body-mind ) from knowledge which comes from learning, experiences, memories, conditionings, culture, beliefs, etc.
Thoughts have no wisdom nature by itself, thus it unable to experience or realize anything. By thoughts, arise the concepts of "Me or "I", knowing, understanding, consciousness, awareness, etc.
The human body-mind is a living unit by itself and is impermanent. When body dies, the mind also ceases with it altogether. There is no real permanent being in body-mind hence no one is there.
However that which is real & permanent is One's True or Original Nature - which never dies ie eternal. It neither comes nor goes, neither moves nor stays.
It has no forms, unknowable or inexpressible thus it cannot be described or named by words or language! 😊🙇‍♂️🙏🌷

This wonderful interview is a great demonstration of the vicious circle of the ego mind
With with its big bag of magic tricks creates a perpetual loop of itself within itself
This loop is oftentimes called a matrix in which one is captured and one loses one’s originality which creates confusion and misidentification
This appears perhaps to be a current state of affairs in many societies .. and is perhaps undesirable
This wonderful vulnerable and open discussion offers a true guide of a valuable way out

Great video as usual. I would love some help with clarification. How does the mind/thoughts/me is not conscious, then how do the thoughts make a story about what is being seen? How does the thought say mug when a mug appears in seeing? Does thought have access to the other senses after the experiencing? I would imagine that thought would not even be able to talk about what's happening if it wasn't conscious. Or that the thought would be completely unintelligible vs making some sort of sense ie thoughts of a mug with tea in it occur when there's a mug with tea in it.
How does thought talk about what is going on with the other senses if it is not conscious? The eyes seeing the nose don't tell me anything about what smell is like.

    • @Robert-yi8hh
      @Robert-yi8hh Před 2 lety +3

Hi. You asked, "How does the mind/thoughts/me is not conscious," you may want to watch the video again. "then how do the thoughts make a story about what is being seen?" Look at the computer screen you are seeing right now. What are you seeing right now? How do you know what you are seeing? Where did the knowing or knowledge come from? "How does the thought say mug when a mug appears in seeing?" Which comes first, the thought or the mug in seeing? If you had absolutely no thoughts or no knowledge whatsoever and you are seeing an object that is unknown to you, how would you know what you are seeing? If you were blind, how would you know it is a mug? If you were blind and had no hands, how would you know it is a mug? Where did the name or concept of a "mug" come from? "Does thought have access to the other senses after the experiencing?" Thoughts do not have access to anything. Thoughts are not doing anything other than appearing and disappearing in time and space. "I would imagine that thought would not even be able to talk about what's happening if it wasn't conscious." A thought does not talk or speak. Can a word "mug" on paper speak? Can the same word be conscious? Again in Terry's video discusses "thought is not conscious." So can a dead person have any thoughts? "How does thought talk about what is going on with the other senses if it is not conscious? The eyes seeing the nose don't tell me anything about what smell is like." Yes, the eyes do not tell you anything as the eyes do not speak verbally just as the nose does not speak verbally. If the eyes and nose are not "conscious," then how do you know what seeing or smelling is? Close your eyes now and imagine a beautiful red rose in front of you. Can smell the fragrance of a rose, yes? You can smell a rose without seeing or having it under your nose. The smell is from your imagination, memory, thoughts. Thank you.

Thank you for this free sharing of wisdom 🙏🏻 I have a question, I hope it can get answered. After 13 years from "my" first satori (I have to use the words "my", "I" and "me") that drastically changed me in few minutes and 5 more satoris during this years, the sense of "me" is still present. The sense of lack and the desire to back in that blissful state is always present and I really can't enjoy other things because "I" is addicted to that "pure experiencing without experiencer" and the mind constantly says "I'm not present because I don't feel like those times". It's a loop and "I" feel frustrated because "I" can't find satisfaction with anything that isn't "a satori". I know that the "me" can't awake, but what can "I" do to at least ignore the desire to Awake? Sorry for the long question and thank you again 🙏🏻 I wish you to recovery soon from your health issues.

The problem is that direct experience is not always what you call satori.
      Direct experience is direct experience.
Whatever feels the need to seek for a specific state is a thought.
Direct experience is the starting point of presence.
It’s unconditional - meaning that if there are thoughts it’s still part of direct experience. There’s no one to ask for any type of state or silence or bliss or anything.
It’s just direct experience of what is.
Bliss is a poison to the seeker. Start looking how « you » react to boredom, emptiness, equanimity, presence, neutral state, absence of emotional waves.
      Observe the avoiding traits.
Satori is just a new object to seek. There’s no satori.
      There’s no bliss.
It’s all the same. Bliss pain joy anger- energetic fluctuations if you shut up the storytelling.
