Cody’s Wish needs speed to run at. Fractions soft. 24.2 opening quarter. 48 and change 1/2 mile. Right there, pace unlikely to back up to you.
Also, 1 1/8 too long for Cody’s Wish. He’s a solid miler.
Doubt the connections were ‘going for it’. Dress rehearsal workout. The BC Dirt Mile is their target.
Come November this race is a throw out.
I’m sorry but Cody has done everything right to deserve an opportunity in the classic. There is no point in racing in the mile when you can become legendary in the classic. It would be one of the worst racing decisions in a while if they did not run this horse in the classic

@@joemac9249 No, Im not joking. When I place a bet I’m not placing it on ‘hope’. I know and understand the back story to this colt. I get it. The other colts and jockeys aren’t just going to ‘gift’ a win to a horse with a sentimental backstory.
Study Cody’s pp’s and his strength is at a mile. True, he ‘hung’ in the stretch, but he ‘hung’ with several others indicating something else was going on which didn’t affect the winner because he was the only one running in the stretch.
For me, the race is a throw out. He was running one panel longer than his strongest distance, he went up against a decent field, the pace was slow- he had nothing to run at. Now, if he runs at 8f against softer and gets beat then I’ll agree with you and say something isn’t right with the colt.
I had white abarrio n Zandon exacta I also had Charge it tied in with both horses I left the favorite out had a feeling he wasn't gonna win I been following White abarrio he was due for a huge race

Absolutely thankfully he looks uninjured. I'm repeating that can't be him at 100%.
Shame he didn't get a smooth start but we haven't learnt anything regarding the trip for Cody's Wish. He managed to grab 3rd but could he have been closer if not for the start. Winner was impressive

Wasn't that big of an upset. The combination of Cody's Wish due for a loss, Saratoga's reputation for favorites in big races smelled a trap bet. Plus, White Abbario was long overdue for a huge win. And whomever had him at 10-1 was the steal of the day...
Im not a big fan of Godolphin. But I really hope Cody's Wish is ok.
The way he was so slow to break and had nothing at the end.

I stopped going to Saratoga. Horses are beautiful but it's the graveyard of the favorites. Hope CW wins his next race.

Saratoga is mostly favorites which is why they've had just 1 carryover pick 6 in 4 weeks
Second observation. Rarely can a horse’s running style be changed. Zandon is a one move deep closer. Putting him closer to a slow pace won’t change anything.
Deep closers rarely win. They need a pace meltdown up front. Like Rich Strike, Zandon won’t be in the winner circle very often. But when they are getting their picture taken the tote board will be lit up with huge numbers as well.
Hes a herder and you are correct about what you said for the most part but there was a horse by the name of Concern a one run deep closer who was then closer in some of his wins including the Ohio Derby and then he won the BCC from last to first. Zandon isnt winning right now but hes always in the money!
@@bnegs521 I wouldn’t put Zandon in the same class as Concern Not yet, at least. Concern ran considerably more back then as opposed to how they run them now. He was a stone cold closer as well and his record I dictated that with his seconds and thirds easily outnumbering his wins.
He was an underneath exotics horse for me. Rarely did I have him to win and I was right more times than not.
Plus, Concern ran at a time when simulcasting was still very new in CA. Geographically, me being on the West coast, I always felt Concern was an overhyped East Coast horse touted by the DRF who seemed to dismiss West Coast horses. Don’t even get me started on Holy Bull.

Codys wish ran flat ,think he deserves another try at the distance ? Maybe the trainer will have other ideas . Winner bolted in looks to have really improved.
My Thoughts...Pace Was Slow But Codys Wish Was Only About 5 Lengths Behind That Pace...He Should Have Had a Lot More to Offer in This Situation at 9F If He is The Classic Horse People Think He is...He Was 1/2 Length Behind Zandon on The Turn and Zandon Took off on Him and Finished Much Stronger Too...(Great Routers Overcome Obstacles in a Race)
Tough to beat a doped race horse. I guarantee you that horse was at Belmont and shipped in this am. Rick Dutrow has nothing to lose.

Watch the start and pay attention to someone standing behind stall 6. He raises his arm just after the horse leaves. The horse's rear legs hesitated. That's why I don't gamble on horse racing. I watch it but don't bet on it.

Won easy, nothing could cope with its finishing speed. Not absolutely certain that those behind the winner are any thing better than average. Pace might not have suited the 3rd but he doesn’t appear to have a turn of foot. Seems to keep on at same pace.
