turbinate reduction & septoplasty won't get rid of your allergies

I have gone through Septoplasty and turbinoplasty 1yr ago but still my nose is blocked , I have to take mondeslor 2 times a day and Ativan for good night sleep. Surgery didn't help much. Surgery can't fix allergen reaction.

Thank you for your comment! I am so sorry to hear that! I know that results vary from person to person and I am lucky to have found relief. I also know that surgery can't fix allergies, but I think the cyst that was removed and having the deviated septum caused a lot of irritation in my sinuses which intensified my allergy issues. I am 1 year and 4 months post op and this is the time of year when my allergies would kill me and I'm breathing freely with just a daily Zyrtec. Prior to surgery, no matter how many allergy meds I took I never felt like they worked for me. I truly believe that the the fact that I couldn't breathe through my nose for so many years caused a lot of my issues. Especially because your nose has hair that catches some of the allergens and when you only breathe through your mouth, you don't have that filter. Does that make sense?
I'm sure you have but have you talked with your doctor about the issues your are still having? I am wishing you well and hope you find relief very soon! ❤️

I didn't have much facial pain, other than discomfort from being congested prior to the surgery but after I healed, that discomfort was gone. Hope that helps!

I'm doing wonderful! Thank you for asking! Usually at this time of the year I would be miserable with allergies but they have barely bothered me at all. I really think the polyp was causing most of my allergy issues by causing irritation in my sinuses all the time. I am breathing through my nose perfectly and am sleeping better as well. I don't have any pain from the surgery and everything healed up nicely. This surgery literally changed my life! Have a wonderful day and thank you again for thinking of me!

@@dweebz07 I'm so sorry you are having those complications! Have you called or messaged your doctor about it? I had a polyp that was removed along with the turbinate reduction. My face was swollen slightly for a couple of days but icing the area helped a lot. Please keep me posted on your recovery and I hope the swelling goes down quickly!

For me I felt really good by week 2 but would get some phantom pains for about 6 months after. No congestion after the stents (stints?) were removed. I hope you get relief soon but maybe send a message to your doctor to see if there is something you can do to relieve the pain and congestion. Sending you lots of healing thoughts! ❤️

Sorry I missed your comment earlier. Did you go through with the surgery or cancel it? I'm so sorry you were scared of it. I feel great today! Sometimes I get an itchy feeling inside my nose that is annoying but my airway is clear and I haven't been sick or had allergy issues nearly as much.
I know the thought of empty nose syndrome is scary, but please talk with your doctor about your concerns. There are risks with any surgery and for me, I couldn't continue living without being able to breathe properly.
      Sending you my best!
