The take away from this is - jenny from the block hasn't ordered anything from a bodega since the late 90s.
It would have been dope if she actually answered it that way. “Sir, I haven’t stepped into a bodega since the 90’s” 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Even still, I’m from Cali, lived in BK in the early 90s and still remember my order. I still remember my address the schools I went to, the train I took on Rutland and Sutter.

Harley Quinn’s bodega order in Birds of Prey was more authentically New York than J.Lo’s bodega order 💀💀💀

Real New Yorkers from her era know that the "Orange Drink" she is referring to is the "50 cent" and "35 cent" juices that they used to sell in all the Bodegas in NYC. They stopped selling them years ago. There is a difference between orange juice, orange soda and orange "drink".
They were fountain drinks, came in fruit punch

Is JLo trying to deflect because of what's going on with Diddy that is likely going to incriminate her? Who cares what JLo ate?
I’m from the Bronx, ya know the block 🤣🤣 But seriously we didn’t call the small drinks orange drinks, those are quarter waters. So the mystery still continues

Yes the clip at the end - it's the inauthenticity. While she was answering all those questions, she was too smug and arrogant while sipping out of a pretentiously fancy tea cup. When she answered the bodega question, you could tell she had no idea and said whatever to seem like she's from the hood.
Smug and arrogant is called just being herself.

@@anonymouse6703 well then many new Yorkers her age saying otherwise though
That last dude hit on a good point.
The reason no one is down with J.Lo and she doesn’t have the following that people like Beyonce do, is because of inauthenticity. And she pretty much just filled the gap that Selena left, having come out with the movie only 2 years after her passing. So her initial fame was literally her just riding Selena’s coattails and having a good management at the time. Just great timing for her all around. But now people don’t want that from their celebrity heroes. They want relatability not someone who lives so far removed from who they were when they started. J. lo has never been authentic!
That’s not true because people actually liked jlo better then Mariah Carey personality wise it’s just the fact that haters always trying to discredit her mainly black Americans.

NOT HAM, CHEESE, BREAD, AND VIBES! 🤣
Yall the bodegas back in the day didnt have all if the variety that the stores have now.. people talkin bout chop cheese.. thats stuff only came recently. She is from a whole different era..
JLo order is not necessarily wrong. I am from Queens and I used to order ham and cheese sandwiches on a hero at the corner store all the time. It used to be $2.50. Turkey sandwich was not a thing back then. I am not even 40 years old yet. I would get mayonnaise on it and when I had a little more money, that's when I got lettuce and tomato on it with salt and black pepper. Sometimes I got a BLT with lettuce And tomato. The orange drink part got me confused because it could be anything but my guess is the ¢25 drink in a barrel shaped bottle. Either way no one would order the drink because we would just go to the fridge and get what we want. My drink was always a bottle of sprite and then I got Doritos nacho cheese chips.
This! The young folks are spoiled with variety. I don’t even remember the bodegas in the early 2000s having too much variety. I’m not from NYC but traveled there frequently.
Yeah I mean it feels like people are just nit picking her to an extreme level and its kinda disturbing, like its just a fucking sandwich, maybe she likes it simple

Ngl I’d crush this sandwich. We don’t have bodegas here but we have some good sandwich shops. I love me a turkey and provolone with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, salt, pepper, & oregano, mayo, and oil & vinegar. Snatch a couple of lays originals and root beer to drink.

The Orange drink is Tropical Fantasy. The chips are the corn chips by Bonton. The sandwich at the time would cost $4.00, the drink was $0.50, and the chips were $0.50.
What?? Nobody was drinking that Tropical Fantasy stuff. Back in the 70s and 80s a Hero Sandwich from the Bodega was about $1.50 so a Roll would be about $1.00. I'm giving J'lo just a LITTLE bit of grace. Because maybe the last time she was in the Bronx was back in the 80's ordering sandwiches at a Bodega that's probably not there anymore or the original owner is long gone.
JLO was in CoOp city last month. She was here again this past weekend. Idk where TF y'all are getting that she doesn't visit the bX. Some of her family still lives in the area. Y'all DID NOT experience old school New York....and many would NOT survive.
This is not in defense of JLO per se.....this is just the silliness of a younger generation trying to get clicks.😒. They did not experience: early Hip-Hop....graffiti trains....Mayor Ed Koch....Bernard Goetz....Howard Beach....Central Park Five fiasco, the PRE and post- crack era (that's important. There WAS an era before the crack era)....etc.

And I understand his point about younger generations assuming things were always the way they are now for some things. The people who probably ran the bodegas were different then too so ordering styles will change with generations and even the workers. Yes, that’s what I was trying to get at! A lot of commenters are younger.

yeah like if you don't like someone thats fine but this just seems borderline obsessive stalking and nitpicking tbh. Maybe she just has a more mild taste or didn't feel like listing all the damn things she put in her fucking sandwich, my god people these days are so judgemental
every fooking time you insert the „iykyk“ part always choking me ngl. 😂
If I was J-Lo's marketing team....I would run with this!
I would choose some bodegas in NY and buy out a days worth of their profits and hand out J-Lo's order for the day at different bodega spots also while promoting her new film and album!
Her songs would be playing in all the bodega spots on repeat for the day!
“She said smalls chips but she didn’t say what kind, there’s a million chips. I’m just going to get takis because they are my favorite.” I HOLLERED! of course the gentrifier who knows nothing about the hood gets takis. 😂😂😂
That South Park episode parodying J-LOW was hilarious!!!😂😂😂
I HONESTLY hope that South Park does a part two!!!
Lmfaoo it was hilarious! Every second of it.
6:18 You know you are black when you haven't switched the batteries in the fire alarm. That BEEP sound triggered me and almost made me look up to see if it was mine. lol
New Yorkers are really pressed over a sandwich!! Yikes! I couldn’t even finish this video it was so lame of a topic. The thought that so many people are really wasting their time on this is more comical than what JLO ever said! 😂😂😂😂 but I’m glad these bodegas are making a killing right now! Nobody can say she didn’t do anything for the block! 😂
We're not pressed over a sandwich. Discernment is key. This page and the content that's out of context is what has us NYkers pressed
Wait a minute...I'm sure if there was a celebrity that was representing your city/town or wherever you call home and they said something out of left field claiming it to be peak, quintessential [insert your town] you'd be perplexed too 😅
@@JamaicanBeefPattylmfao. I love me some. JLO. She laughing all the way to the bank
Its not about the sandwich. Its the fact she keeps mentioning she's from NYC but doesn't exhibit any of the attitudes and characteristics of someone from NYC. If she's not going to behave like she's from NYC, then she should stop mentioning it. And no one is pressed, if you actually watched you'd know they were trolling and making fun of her😂😂
As a Canadian girlie this is sending me 😭😭😅😅! Like why is this lady lying about a damn sandwich??😂 Shout out to my New Yorkers, we know y'all the food capital of the US 🩷!
She's not people just think she is because they can't believe it's not all this extra bullshit on it like she can't like a plain sandwich 😂😂😂
She's not lying. It's this awful misinformed page for bait and click. Discernment is key.
Fk this NovaReii gentrifier transplant
What makes you think she's lying? Has noone ever eaten a Ham and Cheese Sandwich before?
Irish gal from Brooklyn here! If I'm in the Bronx, it's a chopped cheese with champagne cola or some rum goodness if I can get some. if I can't get some, then it's just Cherry Dr. Pepper or a Snapple Lemon Tea.
New Yorkers call sandwiches heroes, I move to PA and they call them hoagies 🤔
Orange drink sounds like it was Sunkist to me. She probably didn't say it because she wanted to get paid for advertising for them. Everything these celebrities do is about money.
At this point it could be an unfrozen icee.
Not what she was talking about hick
Nah, she would have said orange soda. It was prob quarter water and she was too embarrassed to say it.
@@songbird9444 Regardless nobody cares wtf J.Lo drinks.
@@solangelalebron1348 If you know you know..😉
You don't eat ALL that in the middle of the night. I'm like "Let me get ham & egg on a toasted roll with mayo"(NO CHEESE!) and an orange juice. That's it. That's why I keep my shape and remain thin/slim. Cause after that I'm going to sleep. 😴
That's like walking into a bar here in Texas and asking for a BEER! The bartender gonna look at u like "😒what kind of beer dumba**?" Be specific. Nobody knows what"if u know, u know" is🙄
This made me just love my NYC ppl even more & more. ❤❤❤ lol 😂
Orange drink = Bug juice, IYKYK.
New Yorkers love their food
I’m from Bmore and we called quarter water aka little hugs “lil juice”. 🤣😂🤣😂
All these fools looking for a drink called "Ya know, ya know"!🤣🤣 She's talking about quarter water.
The thing is that JLo is still very relevant to the younger generations & they know she’s much older but she looks so young & is very much relevant today, that she’s thought of as a “peer”, so people are saying “no JLo that’s not what we get”.
She’s a 50 year old woman. What she & her friend group were eating at THAT very particular moment in time is NOT what people are eating at THIS very moment in time.
When I was a kid in my particular area in Louisiana it was popular to buy a pickle & a bag of chips & whatever drink options they had. My kid doesn’t even like pickles & that was all the rage. It wasn’t a particular brand, it was whatever pickles they sold. So my go-to order sounds quite possibly random or generic but that was what I got. If that was HER order, that was HER order.
Exactly
I'm sorry but that white girl was trying wayyy too hard lmao
She's just another gentrifying hipster who tries to water down our culture
Oh for real i thought it was JLO watering down the culture....stop w the white hate tho. Its toxic and unattractive!❤@@daughterofeveandhateroflil2683
