  • If you look at any betting market it will contain information on what chance the market is giving each individual participant of winning the event.
Back in the early days the 'book' was slack and there was quite a bit of room for odds to move around. But now the market is very 'tight' and any movement in one direction will trigger a movement in the other direction.
In this video we look at the market, at book % and how odds moving in one direction can influence odds in the other direction.
We then look at a football match and use this characteristic to predict where the price of the draw will be given certain movements elsewhere.

I need to watch this again, but-for now-I do understand the principle of how the price moves in relation to everything that’s happening in a horse race or a football match. I can also see why watching the event live, especially football games, can help you see this interaction at work. Really good. Loved this explanation. (Now can I remember all of the lessons? Probably not so I’ll come back and watch it again, and again until the penny finally drops for me!) Thanks Peter for the time taken to help people like me learn more about this stuff! 👍

Thank you this really helped me understand whats going on, i see allot of videos where people are trading pre race or game but never understand how they was able to predict the market and this makes total sense now thank you :)

No problem. I think it's more helpful long term to show people some depth. Much more useful that just pushing a generic strategy.

This video has nothing to do with predicting how prices will move. A better title would be predicting how paint will dry using Betangel

Don’t see how this video helps to predict which way the odds will move at all.

The book always wants to return to 100%, if the price of one horse starts drifting, the price of another has to start coming in.

Youre right in a way, this is only looking at prices moving once they have started to move in which case you are already too late, thats the problem with just trading the money, youre always going to miss out on either getting a good entry point or not getting matched at all, I think its much better to know were a price should be according to the chances of your selection, for instance if man city were playing at home against burnley and the price of city was 4.5, lets just say the odds moved pre match like they do pre race, you would put every last penny you had on the price steaming in

When it goes in play in jumps all over. Sometimes 120%. Does that mean at that point there is more of an edge for layers than backers?

When it goes inplay its more down to how the race is panning out. You can forget this method.

    Hi Peter.
Can you point or link the video where you are showing how to calculate chances for a horse winner or if that horse is going to place. You did this on a simple excel worksheet. Just to get some of probability clues. Thanks

You have three runners priced at 3.00, the favorite is moving to 2.00. What price will the others be? What if one is drifting consistently to 4.00. Where would you put your closing order on the others?

@@betangeltv Thanks for the response. As a Betangel software customer I need all the tidbits of info. I can get! As we know, the favorite that comes in can drift back out again. The second and third favorites can reverse their trend at any time as well. I am trying hard to make trading with Betangel work but I'm struggling with predicting when these moves will happen.

Is betfair trading something that can be picked up within a couple weeks? Considering learning to trade, and would love to pay for some of your products to get me there.
Kind regards, and thanks for all the content, Peter!
