When you talked about how a lot of these makeup trends from,like 2015-2016 are making a comeback but in a more modern way…..I agree. For a while everyone was obsessed with the Latte makeup trend which is literally just using brown, nude, and some black eyeshadows and that’s a basic/simple makeup look that has been around for years but just became more viral recently. Then the whole strawberry makeup which in my personal opinion it’s only cute, practical, and logical for Halloween because of Strawberry Shortcake since in reality….most people aren’t gonna be wearing that type of makeup on a daily basis. Then the whole pumpkin spice makeup which is a typical makeup look but with some orange. I feel like 2016’s makeup trends are coming back now because 2016 was honestly the best year in terms of makeup launches and trends.
I don’t know if this has anything to do with it, but I think squeezy tube lip glosses are much more hygienic than wand application. I just got into the lip gloss/lip oil trend last year, and after watching all of my clear glosses get murky and cloudy after only a few weeks of use, it makes me realize how unhygienic it is to apply the product to your lips and then put the wand back in the tube, contaminating the entire contents with whatever germs or food residue were on your lips. The squeezy tubes are much more hygienic, or even better, lip balms.
I love my squeezy tubes for almost everything, except lip glosses. I'm sure wands are much more unhygienic but personally, every time I tried applying lip stuff out of a squeezy tube it was always messy, so I actually gave away all my lip products that had it for that exact reason 😅

The Casper line packaging glows in the dark. Here it sold out really quick and everyone was super tickled over it. Mom's and daughters were ohhing and ahhing over it in the store while talking to other women. Childhood delight in all their eyes. The IT makeup is still really stocked here is just not selling. Scooby-Doo is also flying off the shelf here. The 2016 💋 made me smile in amusement because those were very popular in the 90s grunge era.
Tbh this all makes so much sense that trend/style of makeup for those who love it is at the stage products have expired or needs to get thrown out and brands get folks are in the market for replacements (matte neutral eyeshadow palettes making a return) so folks who are buying new staples/folks who are newer to buying/using makeup and missed out on the hype, plus yeah the early 2000s are still trending heavy in beauty eyeshadow quads comeback, squeeze tubes,clear or silver packaging, bold lip color especially more goth style,and it seems matte makeup but, make it modern will be trending again next year
I saw the ABH mini pallets and thought " ooooooh is milani going back to their old formula and packaging ( which was much better than what they are releasing now) NOPE! DAMM!
ELF has actually had lip oils in their line up before, that’s probably why they didn’t have one before? I feel like they came out in the late 2010s. I actually have one by then sitting in my pencil holder at my work desk in the shade Berry Kiss. It was a much thinner consistency than the more hyped lip oils of today (but has more pigment!) and a small doe foot. I think this product got phased out earlier this year, likely in prep for this new lip oil. This kind of reminds me of what they did with ride or die lip balms where they discontinued an existing product and relaunched a similar one that aped a high end product (on that case Laneige)
In terms of elf lip oils, i am also surprised they took a while with the fat doe foot similar to Dior or Nyx. It’s been a while since there’s been a super hyped up elf product (unless we talk about dirty pillows kit but tbh that took a day to sell out). And yeah I acknowledge less than a year isn’t “too long” but it’s too long in the makeup community especially for elf who’s like a more ethical feeling sheglam of makeup. Elf did have a lip oil when it first started coming out and being a thing that exists. It tastes disgusting 😅
I wonder if it took Elf so long because they wanted to perfect the product? There’s so many lip oils that I find seem so cheap. Even some of the high end ones.

I feel like elf is less quick to dupe than we realise, since not a lot of traditional drugstore brands dupe maybe it seems faster though? Halo glow was 5 years after Hollywood flawless filter was released, contour/highlight wands were 6 years. The glow screen dupe, hydro grip dupe, black honey dupe, ysl glossy stain, shape tape/camo concealer, it cosmetics cc dupe, boy brow/ wow brow, roller lash / lash and roll, stila glitter and glow dupe, also years later (hydro grip being the quickest probably of those). The only actually quick ones I can think of are the tatcha silk canvas and poreless putty primer, and brow freeze / brow life, but who knows those could have already been in the works. I mean I love elf this isn't judgment, but like this just isn't THAT crazy.

is it just me or is natasha denona launching much more frequently than she used to? this is giving me major abh vibes, in the sense of nd being a brand so many people love, a brand that honestly doesn't have a lot of misses, and a brand that, at least from what i remember, didn't use to have frequent launches, but every single one of them was and has been meticulously thought through and effectively put together. nd hasn't, in my opinion, had a dud launch yet, like abh had in the past (considering the launch that started their ongoing downfall at the peak of the brand's success was subculture), but at the rate of which nd has been launching makeup, i get the feel their dud launch is on the horizon
I just dyed my hair reddish-plum and am feeling the burgundy lip this season to match it :) definitely interested in the haus labs lip duo. Also, the bright pink lip on you looks gorgeous! I am all for more stark & intense lip looks lately and hope we see that make a come back from 2016.
YES! I have several of those "straight-up brown" neutral palletes and I think I have pretty typical coloring. They look BAD on me. I need either very warm browns or very cool browns, browns that DO something. They took every shade that wasn't the color of cardboard and threw it out of the mini O_o!!
Sultry is a great palette... that being said, I rarely touched Bloom, Cyborg and that grey shade. When I saw the mini, I too felt something was missing. But when I really thought about which shades I hit pan in in my original palette, it was the majority of those in the mini. It is the perfect everyday palette for me so I am so grateful they rereleased it and simplified it. I got the mini, used it and the reliable formula quality is definitely there and the palette feels weighty and strong. Definitely not cheap feeling.
Costume idea (from a young columnist in Boston): A Freudian Slip. Pretty knee-length slip with psychoanalysis words written with contrasting fabric ink all over it. Simple, but very clever. If it's cold, wear a jacket or a cardi.
Fenty is killing it!! They should have done an off shoot brand like uoma did at Walmart not that it was executed that well but the idea was cool as hell

I bought several of the Ulta Bouncy Cream dupes for Moondust shadows thanks to you, so I'll probably skip the palette. I do have the UD Moondust Space Cowboy and will hit pan on it.
Squeeze tubes: don't melt on you in your bag or car; ultra-hydrating like aquaphor which everyone knows is *chef's kiss* for day or night or even sleep; can be made recyclable, or at least more eco-friendly because no moving parts, just one moded tube and a lid.
I've had the MR palette from ABH in my cart many times, but I just can't commit to buying it yet, lol. It's pretty, but I have somewhat of a dupe (WnW Rosé in the Air) and it's ok. However, I AM intrigued by this little one, lol. So, we'll see. Not getting the mini Sultry 'cause I have the regular size (thanks to you, actually ❤).

There was already an elf lip oil, maybe around 3 years ago? It wasn't great. I think it got outdone by other drugstore oils that came out later and was pulled. Either way elf feels incomplete without a lip oil in their lineup.
Now if 2008 emo makeup could just make a revival I would be in good shape. I need more pale foundations (that are ACTUALLY affordable!) in my life. And scene makeup with the colorful lids and heavy eyeliner was so my jam! I can't do a regular wing to save my life.
If you have a foundation that is just too dark for you but your correct undertone- buy a white mixer. LA Girl makes one for $8 and it’s 1oz like a foundation. With a pump and everything.

I was going to get the Natasha Denona mini palette but then I remembered I have tons of clionadh, terra moons, blend bunny, etcetera, multichrome and duochrome eyeshadows so I believe I'd be underwhelmed. Plus I have the blue/purple 200 something dollar palette from ND with very very similar mattes and a silver shimmer. I don't think it's worth it.
The "minis culture" needs to become the norm in the beauty market. Less waste, more chances to try new products.

The Modern Renaissance Mini palette reminds me of 3CEs palettes. The palettes Rosy Muhly, Overtake and Dry Bouquet look very similar to this palette.

I was going to get the Natasha Denona mini palette but then I remembered I have tons of clionadh, terra moons, blend bunny, etcetera, multichrome and duochrome eyeshadows so I believe I'd be underwhelmed. Plus I have the blue/purple 200 something dollar palette from ND with very very similar mattes and a silver shimmer. I don't think it's worth it.
Yeah judging from mountains of review videos, I don’t think ND holds a candle to Clionadh. Just more well known
