He was old enough and mature enough to to go to another zoo. Lope is doing great. He's big and his silver back is developing. Go to the link SV sent me. I watched a video of Lope intimidating a Silverback. Lope is cool.

Why do the zoos castrate these beautiful gorillas? If they don’t want the gorilla population getting out of hand then they shouldn’t keep making the gorillas pair up and mate! It’s sad to know that he’ll always resemble a female and never become a silverback.😞😓
It is quite sad. I believe the zoos do it because they still want to breed. Unfortunately, too many males are born in Europe, and they don't know where to put them when they grow up as there is no space for them. Unless they are neutered, they can't stay with the family.
Poor thing... He's to play all by himself 😢 He'll never grow muscular n mentally like Matadi, Okanda n Lope. He'll be just like that all his life.
