it's fun to see more of the defensive side as opposed to offense all the time
I loved it, it was awesome to see the skill, strength, and defensive intelligence of a top league Centreback. It's also cool to see that CZcamsrs can still, though rarely, get the better of some of the best in the world
I’m sure both Chris and Tobi fancy themselves in a one on one, but this really shows how professionals are (both literally and figuratively) in a different league. We, as fans, criticise these players a lot (often justified), but the fact remains that these players have spent more time than we can imagine to get where they are. They’re professional for a reason.
The rules heavily favoured the defender though- in a real game they don’t stop the attack as soon as he touches the ball lol. Getting past him in a dribble without him *even touching* the ball one bit is difficult even for pro players

Yep I’ve noticed the higher I’ve gone up to semi pro the ability with the ball doesn’t change as much as the speed and intelligence of the game. You can see Will knows exactly what he’s doing and always puts himself in the best position to react fast to Tobi and Chris.

This vid just proves how professional the Prem is. Even players from a club that can potentially become relegation-threatened can thwart off CZcams players that leave.Most of us in awe
Not just the Prem. This guy would get eaten by pros from smaller leagues too. People vastly underestimate the level of pro athletes, no matter the sport.
But honestly, now I would love to see someone like Van Dijk going all out on amateurs lol

Professional players are obviously miles ahead of any ordinary player or youtuber. That being said, a 1v1 like this is much harder for the attacker because the defender knows they aren't going to pass to someone else etc

Not necessarily. With other sports and football being no exception, elite defensive is more about forcing initiative and cutting time rather than being reactive so with the attacker having the ability to have as much time as they please and going wherever they want evens the odds.
It's actually easier here because they have way more space. In a real match, if you approach slowly like these guys, or run into other areas, other players opposition players will smash you.
The defender had also just trained and clearly wasn't putting it all on the line.

I had no idea how difficult it is to take on pro defenders. It's not even just getting past them but the finishing is just as important. I can't help but think of Messi who these days isn't quite getting around defenders like he used to but give him an inch of space and it's ending up in the back of the net.
As Nantes found out the hard way at the weekend...

Pure class from WIll to even film this... being in a 1v1 as a defender with an attacker running at you is one of the hardest scenarios to place oneself in.. most pros wouldn't even film a video like this in the chances of getting humiliated... anything can happen in a 1v1 even if the attackers aren't at the same level
If you play football, you'll know this is harder to achieve than in a match when you have players to do 1 2, or you're getting a through pass or you're getting the ball from the center of the pitch with plenty space up front to run at.
If you play at any kind of a level you'll know that this is way, way easier than in a match. In a game with quality players you are getting pressed as soon as you receive the ball and you never get that much space either side of a player just to dribble into, you have other players coming in rapidly to take the ball off you if you stray into their space.
Also, if you're playing at a level where you have space in the middle of the pitch, that's a very, very low level. In anything like a serious level, the centre of the pitch has zero space and you're getting smashed as soon as you receive the ball.

Would've been great if they got someone like Dennis or Joshua King to run at Will too, get a sense of the difference. Running one v one at a defender is difficult if they are capable, in this scenario in particular. The defender has no other players to worry about.

Really shows how physical the highest level is too. you can see tobi has legit 1:1 skills, and there are times where he's getting the better of the defender, but he's just getting boxed out by sheer strength.
