- Daunte Culpepper was one of the Top QB`s in the early Otts! However, after he left the Vikings in 2006 he pretty much vanished.

I remember when my neighbor got blessed with a Sega Dreamcast for Christmas, and NFL 2K (yes football, not basketball) He always picked played with the Vikes, and I always played with Air McNair and the Titans. Didn’t realize how good we had it back then
Yep I remember when 2K made football games. Those were the days. Daunte Culpepepper was always really good in 2K as well
I remember liking that game more than Madden at the time.
Miss them days.
1:24 the Sega DREAMCAST wae FANTASTIIC. THAT BADBOY COULD OF KING FOR A LONG TIME
Wow you mean to tell me a game titled NFL 2K wasn't an NBA 2K game?!?! My mind is blown
🎉
..tard.
For as big and strong as he was he had TINY hands. Thats why he was always among the league leaders in fumbles. But, he threw one of if not the most if not the most beautiful deep balls. And dude had a howitzer for an arm. Don't get it twisted, his bombs were a thing of beauty. Perfect spirals. Zero wobblers or ducks.
That 2004 season would have been an MVP season had Peyton Manning not thrown 49 TDs that same year. It's important to remember that Randy Moss was out for half the year with a hamstring injury.
Randy Moss was so good that Dante Culpepper won co-mvp.
Damn that's a long ass intro
Do you not like the intro?
@@Sports_Townshorten it bro lol
Fr tho maybe like 5 seconds at most, the average person will lose interest bc of reasons and stuff @@Sports_Town
@@M0y861agreed. It’s like he’s challenging people to click away from the video
@@Sports_TownI agree. Maybe try experimenting some videos with a short intro and keep the intro for others, see the results. Love the content bro!
As a Dolphins fan, I was SUPER excited when they signed him! What a bummer, man
He fired is agent and became his own agent. Which was a terrible idea, because he had an inflated ego. Should've stuck it out with the Vikings, lose some weight, trust in the healing process. He would've made more money staying with the Vikes than bouncing around the league.
So, you're just going to give Brad Childress a pass?
'06 was quite the offseason with both Culpepper and Brees completely uncertain....that and the sex cruise are Daunte's legacy to me
I mean when you have randy moss and Carter why would you not be great
My child went from babbling to walking and talking like a man before your intro ended
Lol, I had the exact same thought.
dude this video was soo cool! this is why i became i vikings fan ~1998 when i first started watching/understanding the game! SKOL FOR LIFE
Thanks so Much. Culpepper and Randy Moss were so good together and their highlights were fun to watch. Its a shame how it ended.
Dude made his mistakes and had a propensity to fumble, but man that Vikes Defense of that era was HORRIBLE. Like Ed Donatell horrible or at least same tier horrible.
Which is funny bc right when he left is when they got Winfield, Williams, Greenway, Allen and the gang lol
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodGentile Right that Defense went from bottom 5 to at least average overall. From '07-'09 it was a top Rush Defense and in 2008 it was the BEST run Defense in the league. WILLIAMS WALL!!!
It was pretty fun rejuvenating his career on Madden 11
Simple, he was only good in his rookie year because he had that Vikings squad from 1998-1999. And when they were gone his flaws were laid bare for everyone to see
Mystery solved
Honestly the dude was overrated and was made by Moss. Once the Vikings traded Moss, Culpepper looked like ass that next season before he got hurt.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I would not say that. He was good, but i think what really hurt Culpepper was all the injuries. By the time he got to Miami, he was very injury prone.
That injury destroyed his career, but before that he was a beast. SKOL!
Great physical talent....but the "party" on Lake Minnetonka demonstrated a lack of leadership.
i'll take a wild guess and say- he retired.
Great video, would love to see more!
Thanks man. I really appreciate it.
As a Raider fan, I don't give a 💩 what a player did for any other team, only what they did for the Raiders. Both Cullpepper and Moss didn't do anything other than pick up a paycheck for the silver and black
Good video! Though Saban is on record saying he wanted Brees despite the medicals. The front office and doctors voted against Nick.
Thank you. He was good for a short time, but it is sad how it ended. When the Dolphins acquired him they were hoping that he was the same player in Minnesota from the 04 season, but that ended up not being the case.
There’s an article out there from 2006 where a Vikings coach Brad Childress talked about the end of the Vikings time w/Culpepper. “It just became a deal where I didn’t feel like it was the team, I felt like it was `me,”‘ Childress said about Culpepper, since traded to Miami. “I went through a big `me’ situation last year with a guy who was all about `me.’”
Culpepper went from having a $102M contract extension (not much guaranteed) to $35M in career earnings at the end of 2009. It’s one of those “what if” questions where if he could’ve navigated better through some issues he might’ve had a much longer career & earned a lot more money. Comedian Tosh makes fun of Culpepper insulting Saban.
Speaking of the Vikings, it’s really a shame the 98 Vikings never made the Super Bowl them and the 04 Steelers, headlined by some of the greatest rookie seasons by an offensive player for both, both of them going 15-1, and losing in the conference championships and the champions and those years were repeats
Glad you spotlighted Cullpepper, feel like he is still very underrated
Played against him twice in the United Football League.
HC of FMU?
@@Kingsized_Kevin yeah
@@bobbyromeii3418 Thats Dope
@@bobbyromeii3418 yeah I lived in Sacramento when he was with The Mountain Lions
@@Kingsized_Kevin yeah him and denzel washington son was on that team
He was drafted in 1999, not 1989
I like that you did this video, but tbh the pace of your narrating feels too fast. Take more pauses between statements & let the music/video do its thing too
The human turnover machine. With a depleted receiving corps, he showed what he really is. When he publicly thanked Gamble for tearing up his knee and "getting him outta Minnesota" I wrote him off.
Man, that’s some epic After Effects in the intro!
After he had that knee injury he wasn’t the same player.
Hard to listen to the narration
His 2004 season is still the best passing season by a Viking QB. Franchise record in TD passes and yards, all with a hobbled Randy Moss and a terrible defense. Also went to Lambeau and whooped the Packers in the wild card round. Its a shame he got injured and things soured with the organization
good job
His brother was my gym teacher back in the day
Just subbed
Thanks man! I really appreciate it!
Get your roll on Daunte!
I wonder what happened to seneca wallace
Coaches football in the Sacramento area.
his record setting completion % in college
It's been literal ages since I left a comment on a video, so please take this with the upmost sincerity. Your content needs work. It's all bread and no butter. While you were adequately able to cover your topic, you weren't able to deliver it in a compelling enough manner to cut through the noise.
1. It's ok to do several takes when recording your dialog. You seem to be a good speaker, but there were too many times when you clearly fumbled at the goal line and just forced the words out. A little bit of rehearsal time can go a long way. Also, learn to pronounce the words in your script before you say them.
2. It should be YOUR script. You need to be able to compete with voice bots reading a ChatGPT prompt. It was obvious that you were reading some of those words for the first time, and plagiarism is boring.
3. Pay attention to detail. Make sure your visuals are accurate and work to enhance your narration. I'm pretty sure you used a picture of Zigi Wilf when talking about a time before he owned the team.
4&5. Brevity is the source of wit. Trim the fat, eliminate the pauses, and for fucks sake, keep your intro under 10 seconds.
UTmost sincerity
Dude was a beast but injuries ruined his career. His stats were great at first
Arthur scopic is my dawg
The voiceover is absolutely loaded with slurred words and mispronunciations.
I want to add something "What the hell happened to Danunte Cullpepper?" Where is he now?
Is that the title you think it should be?
Couldn’t win without Randy Moss
"Whatever Happened to Steve McNair?"
You want me to do a video on him?
He was a beast.
Dude just couldn’t stay healthy…sad…he was pretty good. Nice video.
He was born in prison
The definition of a video game create-a-player. God doesnt make perfect QBs, Daunte was a mistake and was quickly struck down.
Elite pocket QBs are not suppose to run like RBs and be built like DE's.
I think what his downfall was not protecting himself enough. He ended up becoming injury prone by the time he left Minnesota.
@Sports_Town that knee injury was a career-ender.
@@Sports_Town .
I thought he had better stats 😳🫢
Culpepper over Brees looks brain-dead now, but this video is a reminder of how much higher Culpepper's ceiling appeared to be. He was a big deal in the early 2000s.
I love Drew Brees, but if you look at his numbers on the Chargers, I do not think anyone imagined him one day holding the career TD and passing yards records (even if it was for only like a few months). The Chargers' offense was based around LT. Very different from Drew throwing the ball 650 times a year on the Saints. Oh yeah, and he just had his shoulder repaired. Culpepper was a far more physically gifted athlete. However, Drew has an exceptional work ethic, and that enabled him to overcome the injury and grow into an elite passer. He also wouldn't have had Sean Payton in Miami, another key element to his development into an elite passer.
Culpepper was way overrated due to Randy Moss' explosiveness. It wound up working against him as he never looked that good again wherever he went.
Many forget he was also adopted
2008 season I wanted pats to sign him to come in and play qb after brady got hurt
*Great* ?
Worse TD celebration in the history of the year
All he had to be was HUMBLE but Noooooooo…hope he saved some of the money he earned BUT I seriously doubt it! 😅
Struggling with your script brother? LoL
?
If reading scripts and narrating perfect CZcams vids was easy everyone would do it.
@@Sports_Town lots of shuddering brother. Not hating, just pointing it out so your next vid is on point
Down voted obvious reasons 😑
Culpepper is a what if story. What if he stayed healthy?
I think he would have been good if he would`ve stayed healthy. Maybe the Vikings could have actually had their franchise QB if he did not get hurt. But his relationship with the Franchise was also not great either.
He was not the same when Randy Moss got traded to the raiders.
didn’t his son sign with the Buccaneers?
I am not sure. I checked, but I did not find anything.
your intro is too long buddy
I will make the intro less long next time
This is AI
Its not AI
Wtf was that intro? Lil too long, don't ya think...makes me not want to watch any more vids of yours.. too bad as well. You make good content, but I'm not watch that intro again. Isn't it enough that we have to deal with ads? Jeez
Probably the best QB the Vikings have had only behind Fran Tarkenton
I would agree
Words are tough huh bud
?
