DJI RS2/RS3 Ring Grip by DigitalFoto: geni.us/4BBCSi
This ring grip is the best budget ring grip I have tried. The build quality is exceptional and I believe digitalfoto are doing some great things to bring budget filmmaking tools to us for much less than the competitors.
You may find that this ring will suit more than just the DJI gimbals as stated in the video.

You've explained it like a professor. Thanks a bunch. am now ready to buy RS2 ronin tomorrow, I already have the grip.
I purchased this after watching your video Jason, but I had to return it. Firstly I am not sure if my one was faulty or it's a design flaw, but he quick release base wasn't locking into the RS2 properly, so I couldn't lock it. In fact your video shows you having trouble with this, not sure if you found a workaround? Second, if I keep the RS2 base (battery) it's too talk to fit my camera as well, so it's really too small for that. Overall I wasn't impressed at all, and will have to use my RS2 the old fashioned way.
Thanks for the video, but i found this video because i need to know about that blue strap to attach it to the vest. Is it justa. Diy setup?
Do I see correctly that you've zip tied the damping serene to the support bar of the hook vest? I just got one and was noticing the pan axis feels a bit volatile when the damping serene is sprung under pressure. Thanks for the helpful video!
Great video
Hey man thanks for the video been very helpful , ONE HUGE QUESTION though, i have an FX6 and im trying to figure out how to disable the AUTO lock feature when powering off the RS3 PRO ??? The FX6 is too big to auto lock in this configuration right ? What do you do when you powered this set up down ?
@jasonmorris
Nice!
What exact model is your hook vest by DigitalFoto? I see a lot of different versions on B&H
Hookvest with serene. 8-15kgs I think it was
What is the blue strap you are using to hook up the easyrig to the gimbal ring?
Let me know if you got the name of the blue strap
Bro how did u mount the dji wireless control on the DigitalFoto
Great video, but the description area is a mess and has links for everything in the video except the 2 things this video is about which makes it confusing and frustrating.
Which is the smallrig that u use to the Atomos Ninja?
Cool rig
It is
Is the ring also compatible with other models like the Ronin SC ? Really want to buy one for my gimball, but would be a shame if it's not compatible...
You will be able to use any gimbal providing you use just the regular quick release clamp that comes with it
How do you pair your FX6 with the RS3 pro? Can't figure out how to use the rec button on the gimbal itself..
I believe hes using the direct multi ports on the RS3. camera usb c to gimble usb c
Separate question: I currently have an RS2. SHould I get another and save the money for get the RS 3 Pro? I JUST finally got my FX6!
The RS3 pro is a pretty good combo with the FX6. I didn’t own the RS2 though so I can’t compare with that camera
theres not a whole lot of difference. im hanging onto my RS2. I think the stabilization is a wee bit better on the 3 but not much. The only reason I was considering it is because I have a BMPCC6k pro and it sits weird. the RS3 is a few inches long on all the arms.
how is good if use DJI 3 pro at smal Raining /snow weather, and dush/sand and at beach
Not sure how weather proof they are to be honest/
Can be used to dji rsc2 ? 2:49
You could trip and fall with that. Stand up , Brush yourself off and do some jumping jacks and still have stable footage.
😂 hahaha maybe. There might be a little camera shake
That power base isn’t very good it relies on the rs2 battery clamp to hold it on and not let go. The Tilta version has a side bar which hooks over the built in nato rail. The small rig version is similar but has 2 power ports and adds a cold shoe to the bar and has 2 nato rails on the base. Which leaves one nato rail free for a remote. Small rigs remote is magnetic and fits into a couple of handles including one for the ring.
The Tilta ring is insanely expensive probably because they included power ports around the ring and custom parts to connect to that power.
The biggest problem with most of these companies is they don’t think about interoperability very much if at all. For example I have digital fotos ares z axis stabiliser. It’s not too bad but they made it attach to a ring with a nato rail unfortunately the rs2 has 2 nato rails so you Cant just put on the ares and go. I think I have it solved now using a clamp to rosette adapter I just need to drill a hole into the ares rail and slip in a m6 bolt. I will have to dismantle it to get the bolt in but I think it will be worth it. Should be able to tighten it with 10mm spanner.
But yes interoperability is something that needs more thought, smallrig seem to be the best in that regard as they will even send you parts of a product and they have co design. I’m seeing good things from digital foto and I hope I can pick and choose more of their parts.
It actually has a safety clamp on the side which has to be screwed in. It will not fall off. I didn't mention this as I forgot to. The only issue I have with the smallrig version is the overall size
3 questions please:
1.if directly install DIGITALFOTO ARES handle on RS2 nato rail,it will be impossible to achieve remotely control gimbal.
2.Will the handle position be too high if install them on RS2 nato rail place?
3.Is it a big difference between install ARES handle on RS2 nato rail and directly mount ARES on RS2 battery grip?
@@ivankwok3852 1 remote control is possible in a couple of methods the rs2 supports remote control with the dji phone app. If you have the Tilta remote the receiver doesn’t have a nato rail on the other side. So you can’t connect one of the handles. The small rig remote receiver does have a nato rail so you can go left to right handle remote receiver rs2 and handle. If you have small rigs power base that has 2 cold nato rails so you can connect the ares to these nato rails and you have one hot nato rail free which either Tilta or Smallrig receiver can mount. The problem with small rigs remote is a lack of focus control which the Tilta has. smallrig has a focus control module under development. You can use dji lidar and raven eye for auto focus and tracking.
2 the handles still work mounted on the 2 nato rails on the gimbal they rise up to the gimbal and the loading lowers them to more or less straight.
3 it’s a faster install to add or remove the handles going directly to the nato rails and a little less weight. If you do want to use the ring to connect the handles then undoing the mod is a bit of a pain if you don’t mind leaving the screws in place I think you can unscrew the adapters, you can get a stubby Allen key in there.
