This is a great video and i enjoyed watching it very much! As a chinese living and working in New York, USA, it even makes me a little emotional and homesick, especially I happen to watch it today - 10/01/2019, China’s 70th Anniversary since its founding.
I really hope there are more people from the globe to go to China and explore and see it though their own eyes, and beautiful documentaries like this open a window for foreign friends to have a peek of the Middle Kingdom, it’s culture, history, education, people’s views, mindsets, real daily life, etc. Nowadays I’ve seen too many western media demonizing China blindly in a very political way, which make some first-hand raw materials like this even more invaluable. I greatly appreciate the creating team’s efforts and wonderful work! Each country has its pros and cons, China is not perfect either, but it has many beautiful aspects, a hard working people, and no doubt is one of the most important world engines of this century. I’m very proud of my country and proud to be a chinese, and happy birthday to you!
BTW I’ve never been to Xi’An, even though I eat Roujiamo in NY all the time. It’s definitely on my list to visit!
I lived in xian from 2005 to 2009. I love that city. Taught English first at Jin yuan da ming gong and then at Jiao tong university. So many memories, so many wonderful friends. A great experience. Xian is the food capital of the universe.
Rarely do I see a documentary with subtitles in two languages alternating between English and Chinese. All of Graeme's videos are outstanding. This proves that you don't need to spend a lot of money for high quality. This video could easily be mistaken for a BBC or National Geographic documentary. Well done.
Thanks Joey!
The only difference about BBC is that they will only talk bullshit about China to destroy their image
Better, than the BBC I must say. And for the amount of money I reckon the average BBSh*t programme would cost, this show is my new favourite! ❤️
@@graemelangford4094 You didn't go to see the Terracotta Warriors!
I really love how you go out of your comfort zone and interact with locals. Really valuable footage of a fascinating culture
I am so proud to be born in Xi'an and also grew up there. That middle school was where I studied at. I never thought it would be featured in a CZcams video, and I don't remember we ever practiced Wushu lol.
they enter into national competitions for Wushu now I think. They were pretty damn good! haha

I smiled from ear to ear watching this and seriously admire your courage and dedication to immersing yourself into a different culture! Well done!
Thank you, much appreciated. I love trying to immerse myself in places as much as possible. It's the best way to experience the world!
I know Im randomly asking but does anybody know a method to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly lost my password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Ibrahim Malcolm instablaster ;)
I have watched three of the previous Silk Road series, this is just as good. Very well made and highly professional documentary.
Thanks Peter!
I saw my teacher in the video. Thank you for bring my memories back
I’m a Chinese, and I live in HangZhou, a city near Shanghai. I’ve been to Xi’an for several times, but I think you know the city more than I do. Your video is great. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you so much♥️
I'm from Northwestern Poly-technical University ,Xi'an . Felling Lucky to live in a city like Xi'an . Anyway I climbed Mount Huashan in Last August , it's just amazing experience :D

校友,哈哈
Bayezidh Tanu i am also from xi’an ,so where are you now my friend
Hello, I am from Xi'an, I graduated from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China
Wow it’s hard to believe that your crew has only a few people. I would have confused this with a BBC documentary if not specified. This is indeed great work here. I hope that you can film more about China and maybe Southern China next time?
Winnie_hwm.
WELL SAID
Agree. Very impressive work.
Thanks Winnie. Hoping to have some more vids done soon!
Better than BBC
It's easy to see the difference from BBC, BBC will only talk bullshit about China
Major production companies have a lot to learn from you. Incisive, stylish reporting. Thank you!
Thanks man!
You earned my utmost respect for singing Xian Opera :) Subscribed!
Haha thank you! It was very difficult!

Excellent work. Good for who needs to get inspired to visit China and for those who spent already some times there. Looking forward to watch the next episodes.
Thank you so much for making such a wonderful documentary about my hometown. I moved to Australia 15 years ago but Xi’an always have a special place in my heart. I went to that high school for two years and still best friends with people I studied with back in the days, seeing the kids brings my eyes to tears 😭
It's a wonderful school. I showed the doc to all of the kids at the school after it was completed and they loved watching themselves! haha
This video deserves more views! You've convinced me to go to Xian this year! More power and pls continue the excellent work.
I musst say, this is the best video from a private channel that i have watched!!!
Thanks so much!!
Xian is one of the most historical city of China. It was capital of 13 dynasties, from Qin dynasty(221 BC) to Tang dynasty(618~907). It even get a foreign name called "Khumdan".
I'm from Xi'an. Love this city. This video is great for me to teach my students.
I love it too. And miss it very much! Hope your students enjoy the film :) What do you teach?
I teach Chinese. This video is what I want for this week's Chinese culture "China Today".My students really enjoy watching the school of Xi'an. Besides these 3 episodes, do you have more? Thank you.
That sounds great! At the moment I only have this and the episodes about the Silk Road. But I'm working on some ideas for more films in China. Any suggestions would be welcome! :)

I lived in Xian one year. I'm an american, and it was so eye-opening and my heart was deeply touched by the warmth of the 西安人。 you have loved them well, and I salute you for that, fellow traveler. May the Lord bless you.
Thank you! It's a great place.
I love Xi'an. Another fantastic video.we tried the night dancing too. The people were so friendly and helpful. I found the night market a bit overwhelming.
Thank you! Yes, I suppose it can be quite a full on experience. When we were filming this it was the national day holiday so there were just so many people in the market!
It's so amazing. Like every documentary you make. More please!
Thank you! I will have more coming soon!
我是西安人,现在在印度工作!

Maybe a video blog?
I’m Chinese and I go to China a lot, but I never stepped inside a middle school, so that was particularly interesting.
The old lady was just wonderful.
Loved that you tried doing local opera - that was funny. Bravo!
Thanks Arthur!
你这个字幕,我给满分,视频很不错
厉害了啊哈
my wife is from Xi'An, and she loves your video. Thanks bro!
Glad she enjoyed it! It's a special place for me too.
As a Chinese I am really happy that you enjoy yourself in China :) Looking forward to seeing next episode. BTW, if you love modem city, Peking, Shanghai and Guangzhou are the best choices. And Peking is also rich for Chinese history. And, if you have plenty of time for travelling around, Sichuan province and Yunnan province have the most breath taking scenery. (I would love to recommend my hometown, Daqing, too, however it is minus 20 degrees right now so it is a little cold LOL)
I've been to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou before. My favourite is Shanghai! If I can film something in those cities then I will. I recently travelled to Kashgar and filmed something else so that will be coming soon for you to watch :). Maybe I should go to Daqing before the winter! haha
Graeme, what a delight it is to watch your videos!!!
Mary
Thank you, Mary!

I thoroughly enjoyed your work, only you don't have too many videos....Please show us more of your trips, china or around the around. I like your candid, light hearted way of story telling; and I can tell you did your research!
I was there in 2010..I loved China.
Awesome videos, esp the Silk Road series. Good work! Do some more :). Also, were you living in China to learn Chinese so well?
Best video I’ve seen on Xi’an. Cheers 🥂
Thanks, Shannon!
Love you bro.
Chinese people should be satisfied and appreciate what their government have done for them. Believe me or not, the grass is not always greener on the other side of the world. I have been to other part of China but not Xi'an. I have already plan to visit Xi'an for the first time next year in May. See you next year Xi'an!
The Chinese government should be grateful that its people have sustained the largest bureaucracy in the world without much complaint.
Well done. Fascinating video. I envy you speaking Chinese. I went last year to chengdu and chongqing and they were fabulous. Xian next. Maybe Harbin
Xian, an amazing city with ancient Chinese heyday culture and modern characters, if you can add some scripts of Big wide-goose pagoda and Qin dynasty terracotta worriers of the city wall, people will know more about this ancient luxury culture. Anyway, I am happy to watch your video about my city, a place you will never forget once you been there.
Please do more vlog of china..
You did great job singing!!! I used to sing Chinese opera my self.
That's great! I'm not sure the teacher thought i was that good hahaha

Great, man! Where you thinking of studying?
Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), Mandarin and Chinese Culture. Just sent my application for the scholarship the other day. Know anything about the school?
I know where it is but I don't know much about it specifically. But, there's a guy who studies there on this comment feed so get in touch with him :)
I will, and thanks again for making videos like this, they're really helpful for people like me who want to know more about a place
Graeme, I just stumbled upon this video and it’s making me feel super nostalgic! I just wanted to tell you this video influenced my decision to go to Xi’an and it absolutely changed my life! I have since been to China 6 times and I just got accepted to study language for a year at Nanjing University, hope I can go since COVID-19 may prevent me. Thank you again for this video man 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.
