- The Rings of Power is an absolute masterpiece of how to get everything wrong and let down a fan-base. Lets dive in and review this hot mess. There are 8 main issues I have with this floating dingleberry of a show. We all know the $1 billion price tag, but for me there are some huge gapping issues with the fundamentals of this show in the first 6 episodes...lets break it down.

0:52 - The Rings of Power Bad Acting
2:31 - Terrible Fight Scenes
2:42 - The Rings of Power is woke
3:33 - Rings of power terrible script

Thank you for the overwhelming response! Its an affirmative YES on the episode breakdown - working on it - each vid will likely take about 15-20 hours worth editing. Will try and get one done for next week. Bit of shameless self promotion, if you are new to the channel please drop a sub and hit the bell, it really helps a tiny channel like this take off and it means YT actually tells you when the vids are out. Have a wonderful day y'all.
As a dude who used to run a small channel, people will not believe the editing takes that long but it really can. Was the thing that broke me ultimately 😂
I personally like some of the shows elements, specifically how the orcs are just trying to make a home for themselves surviving in a cruel world where they're being hunted down by an evil genocidal elf lady and they're living under everyone's floorboards waiting for an opportunity to rise up against their oppressors, the corrupted elf being a father figure for the orcs, the orcs not all being pure evil, etc. It's to bad they're trying to cram this story into Tolkein's setting and that the show is riddled with bad writing.
I came here to downvote you for being a shill and was pleasantly surprised lmao.
CZcams won't tell lmao but I'll subscribe and try to remember you nonetheless
@@Don-ds3dy yes if you ignore all the fundamental problems with the show, some aspects are pretty good. Like that one. I did enjoy ep 5, the best episode of the entire show imo. At least if you do as I said and ignore all the problems lmao

That scene when Halbrand said "I don't want it. She's mah queen" and gifted Mordor to Galadriel, I literally cried. The best moment in the history of cinematography.
My jaw dropped when Galadriel screamed “THIS IS SPARTA” and kicked that guy down the well. Chills.
The part when Galadriel said: "Its Galadrin' time" and killed, all by herself, a galadrillon orcs was truly a moment in the history of TV shows.
I've seen a lot of these types of comments, but a galadrillion orcs takes the cake for me. Cracked me up.
they have strayed so far from Tolkien that at this point, the twist that I really am hoping for is that Sauron maces all the characters and wins. The goblin campaign of Battle for Middle Earth II is a better adaptation of Tolkien's works
Very original comment

60 million per episode and 59,5 millions went into the "good reviews" budget.
They had years of practice with this method on their own website 👍🏼
@Un Woke The sad thing is, on many of those points you are likely to be right...
@Un Woke I hope that's a just a really detailed exaggeration. If not, 😂
60 million PER EPISODE? that’s more than GoT season 3 full season budget. Shit I think it’s actually more than S1 & 2 combined. What a bungle of a production
Now now, be fair, they had to save some for the money laundering.
That moment when Gladriel handed Sauron the grenade pin and said 'this.. is from... Matilda'. Got me right in the feels.

And it was so heartwarming to see Mathilda walking into Mordor, the flowerpot with one of the Trees of Valar firmly in her hands.

The part where Galadriel threatened genocide against that corrupted elf leader and his people was really likable. Genocide is always ok if done by a girl boss! Slay queen
SLAAAAY!! slaaay your enemies! TAKE YOUR RIGHTFUL PLACE!
I was honestly sympathizing with the elf dude at that point. Just wanting to belong somewhere in middle earth, then Galadriel is like "I dont care, i will fucking murder all of you". Are the good guys actually good?
In fairness, lore accurate. Orcs are the antithesis of the Elves. In reality Galadriel would have killed him instantly, she wouldn't even really have free-will in that regard.
@@TheWalter1293 Good guys are boring, reality isn't black and white. Making Galadriel a flawless hero would be even worse.

Dying to know how Amazon spent so much and still didn't manage to find decent writers. Even a random Fanfic writer could have made less of a mess of it.
You are assuming Amazon was after the best out there.
This is like the media equivalent of excentric billionaire attire. They spend immense amount of money to demonstrate they have no taste.
They did the same thing with the Wheel of Time.
I think these absurd budgets are just a money laundering scheme.
I'm guessing it was cuz of inclusivity. They were inexperienced, don't have any achievements or praises or/and they were g*y writers. Amazon made a great "modern" choice. Can't think of this in any other possible way...

When Galadriel made that last speach, I cried: “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Napkins in the shape of swans... I watched sea-breams glitter on the banquet table next to a five-tier wedding cake. All those moments will be lost in time like... tears in rain.” So poetic.

The fact that Galadriel in this age is supposed to be a couple thousand years old and they have her behaving like a petulant teenager is astonishing. I didn't think a show could have worse character writing than the last 2 seasons of GOT....but here we are.
So true, shes just been a petulant little teenager so far. Unreal.
@@crappyfilmfans Thousands of years life experience and years of study under guidance of basically a demi god but she apparently can't grow out of her teenage years

@@mikem9001 Yeah I said couple thousand cos I wasn't sure just knew it was in the thousands, but 4000 puts it in a different light again. What they've done to her character is reason enough to hate on this show, but there are so many more things then stacked on top..it's a trainwreck I hope they stop making it but they've sunk so much cash into it now I think we'll be hearing about it for a long time yet
Well, the characters can only be as intelligent as the writers themselves...
When the fallen Elf antagonist is the most sympathetic character, you have reached the pinnacle of writing.
I think that's the idea. Just like Animal Farm, you start out with good intentions eg of empathising with "villains" and portraying "heroes" as flawed, eg like ASOIAF. But you can take it too far, as in the Monty Python Robin Hood sketch. You still need a decent plot, though, along with all the other things. Subverting expectations isn't the be all and end all, especially if you're expecting it to be good.
@Bob H Ye, hate to say he's Sauron though. That's the only reason he's made remotely likeable: to "subvert expectations" later. I'm dumbfounded that a billion-dollar series could be this terrible.
@Bob H yeah. Galadriel did all this. She belived in Sauron. She is the MAN. What a guy!!

The biggest problem with including so many different people is that it weirdly makes all the places the same. Instead of any location being associated with a particular group of people, you find the exact same people everywhere you go. And--astonishingly--some people are buying it, and helping to make excuses for doing that ("Tolkien didn't exactly say there _weren't_ early hobbits in the Second Age")
"Harfoot" is also a Tolkien word, so its not a copyright issue.
It's not a rights issue as Hobbits are definitely in the appendices, which they have rights to, however timing-wise... Surely there were hobbits near the end of the second age, but they were not in a position which would make them in the least notable.
They're the primitive precursor species to hobbits. .Not-Frodo and not-Sam will be cast out from the tribe, then discover that harfoots are hermaphrodites and they'll found the Shire. That's gotta check off a few diversity boxes.
Harfoots are Tolkien. He created 3 types of “Hobbits”, which Hobbits are descendants of Harfoots.
The part where Galadriel said “say what again MFer I dare you!!” To Sauroun…chefs kiss
When Galadriel said "it's Morbin time!" I was literally shaking.
You got me there, Sir. I`ve started watching very "concerned", but now I cannot get smile of my face. I think I`ll watch it couple more times.
For me line that cracked me up: "They stare at each other like married couple for 30 years, with NO hope at all"- Thats love, I mean they were in love....lol.
Baha thanks you bro, yes I can confirm that’s true love AND a true marriage 😂
My favorite part was when Galadriel let Halbrand hit and Halbrand told her that he was Sauron but she didn’t care because she wanted to put aside their differences for love. Such a romantic scene that made a lot of sense!
Galadriel would be lucky to have Sauron.
Why would sauron, the strongest of the Maiar, lower himself to the level of a mere elf.
Because she is a strong independent woman
i remember watching ep7 and counting the seconds for that pointless apple scene when frodo gave the apple to gandalf. i want an extended version of that scene ( at least 5 minutes )
This is such GOLD. And, if I may say so, thank you to the creators of the Rings of Power, without you we wouldn't have premium content like this praising your show to high heaven - as god intended.
Seriously though - the reference to hyena Ed from the Lion King had me in fits for like ten minutes, mate! 🤣🤣
Don't forget that the writers obviously have no idea how TIME works, as the multiple story plots are supposedly happening in sync with each other, but the Numenor plot has, by their own dialogue, taken place over weeks while the Orcs vs Southlanders plot seems to take place over... a few days???
The scene when galadriel starts repeating "all work and no play makes me a dull gahl" gives me thrills like nothing ever...
To me, the most touching scene was when Galadriel shouted "Are you not entertained?!" after killing all of the snow trolls. Further proof of how perfect this show is.
When Mike said "Waltuh..." I was bloody done. This show is a masterpiece.
In the script part you forgot to mention how none of the characters ever actually answer any of the questions they are asked, they just give you an analogy that makes no sense 😂
Well, they just looked at politicians I think
I think it was the 2nd or third episode when they showed the slow mo of her dress while riding the horse, for literally no reason, I knew every aspect of this show was doomed. I haven't been able to sit through an entire episode since.
wdym no reason? It was an artsy shot and they had the budget for it :P
Wow! That caught me by surprise :D
I liked transition from "Pretending it's the best show ever" to "Downright honest sarcasm"
"Guys, I want more tears here. Honestly, at this point I just don't give a crap. Let the orcs win" This line cracked me up.
I feel like the writers submitted something completely different to get the approval of the Tolkien estate and Amazon. Did they not try and watch the show before sending it to brodcast
Fav part so far is when she said ‘it’s galadin time’ and homeless Gandalf yelling ‘LEROY JENKINS!!’ With intense passion and vigor
My favourite part was when Galadriel said "Because I was inverted" after explaining being in a 4G negative dive with a MiG 28. So funny.
The part when Elrond asked Sauron, "Tell me, do you bleed?" then Sauron flew off in the air as Elrond finished with "you will" blew my mind
My favourite part is where Galadriel said to the six Orcs, “Are you gonna pull them axes or whistle Mordor”. So stunning and so brave.
When Galadriel killed an unarmed orc and got called a "Cowardly person of a bitch. You just slayed an unarmed orcxn." by Sauron to which she responded with "Well, he should have armed himself if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friendxn." I literally released my bowels all over the room and my family members.
